I actually found Eric Vale as Trunks more bearable in this episode. He seemed to tone down the rasp a lot more.

Seems like Eric Vale's back to normal, now.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Yeah, I agree. The first couple of lines were still a bit too raspy, but after that the rasp was incredibly subtle, and sometimes pretty much non-existent.

You might not hear any music replacement until the DVD and Blu-Ray releases of these episodes.

Vale seems to have toned it down some, but I need to see him interact with others more to fully judge. For some reason I vividly remeber the monster growl delivery of Sabat as Piccolo in the DBZ dub reacting to Trunks return.(TRUNKS IS BAWCK!!) Here in Kai, it is without a doubt soooooooooo much better and natural sounding, it really is night and day.

I just caught a glimpse of the first episode being shown on NickToons' Kai marathon today (17-Dawn of the Fierce Battle! The Star of Hope Is Piccolo's Homeland!), and it's still using Yamamoto's score... I don't get it. :? I figured FUNimation was on top of this issue since Toonzai's airing now has Kikuchi's score, and FUNimation has limited involvement with that version as far as I know. I thought that they'd also quickly give NickToons the ones with the replacement score as well, but they haven't.

Probably because they've had that episode for almost a year now and have yet to air any new episodes they've received with the Kikuchi score?

I don't know. So far, from the looks of it, the episodes that were already aired won't be replaced, but only the newer episodes will have the Kikuchi music.

We'll find out for sure tomorrow when Nicktoons starts from the beginning again. If so then it gives me reason to watch Toonzai's version after all.

We will probably have to wait until part 5 comes out on DVD/Bluray to know for sure.

Just saw the beginning of their rerun of episode one. Still Yamamoto's score... :x

Then why is Toonzai using Kikuchi's score....?
If FUNimation is working on the BGM change for Toonzai and episodes 34 and 35 were aired with it, why aren't they doing anything to earlier episodes of Nicktoon's version?
So mondo lame.

It's probably made up. How can Toonzai be using it already?

By this, do you mean that the replacement score was "made up", or somebody "made this up" and they actually didn't air with the Kikuchi score?
If you mean the replacement score was made up, it wasn't. I recognized a lot of Kikuchi's work from DBZ on those episodes.
If you mean the replacement never happened, it did. I saw the episodes on Saturday when they aired, and if they didn't air with Kikuchi's score, why would I be talking about it?

What? You honestly think this video is fake?
