Okay, I'm really confused. Do all versions of the game (European, American and Japanese) have different soundtracks? I know the American versions have instrumental versions playing (excluding Budokai 1, in which it seems that Rock The Dragon plays during the CHA-LA opening animation, that just sounds stupid ><).
Because lots of "critics" (unappreciative fanboys who just won't shut up) claim the music to be directly from the FUNi dub, I'm at a lass as to which music is which.
Considering how badly translated the European Budokai 1 was (they game isn't even called Budokai in some cases, just Dragon Ball Z) and how the poor the subtitles are, I'm guessing the soundtrack is the Japanese one. But the opening animation (a montage of scenes from the game with one of the tracks playing), is the Japanese version like this or does it have the CHA-LA opening?

AFAIK, the Japanese version has a CG-ed Cha-La Head-Cha-La opening, with of course Cha-La Head-Cha-La as the opening theme.
US Budokai jhas the CG-ed Cha-La Head-Cha-La, but with Rock the Dragon. EU Cha-La Head-Cha-La has a random clip montage, with a stage BGM as opening theme.
In Budokai 2 and 3, JP and EU versions have the same vocal opening, while the US version has an instrumental version.

So it's the CHA-LA HEAD CHA-LA you hear in the end credits?Ash wrote:AFAIK, the Japanese version has a CG-ed Cha-La Head-Cha-La opening, with of course Cha-La Head-Cha-La as the opening theme.

The Japanese version got the vocal Cha-la during the opening. I still haven't figured out why the opening was cut from the EU version... that clip montage is on the NA version as well. If you go passed the intro and sit on title screen it'll go to a demo fight, skip that and wait on the title page again and then the clip montage will play... for some reason the EU version just cut out the opening... for no reason that I can tell.
