Interview with Hiroyuki Kaneko (producer)

We concentrated our efforts in the battle system!
We have added more energy and intensity to the action and also time!
We really want the players, whoever they are, are experimenting with duels
very large scales!
We want it to be unheard of!
To give you some examples, the intensity and dynamism of the fighting
disproportionate: the combos will be more important, all will be destructible with massive
explosions!
There will be the same all-new missions in the face of Boss, which has never been done before!
As for the story mode, since there are already many DBZ titles that have already
covered a large part of the story, this time the focus is on the Saiyajin saga, Cell and Buu, but we will not follow the story like it, we'll
dissect further, to learn more on it!
We can say that it is the last episode!

Ooooo, he said not exactly like the story, which means it's gonna be like Budokai 2 :D

Reading that paragraph in the way it's worded, the Frieza saga is excluded. Is that a terrible translation?

Sorry English is not my native language and I try my best at finding sarcasm or anything but this paragraph really confuses me.

I didn't see any sarcasm, I just see spotty explanations for the game.

I'm confused, is this really their last game?

Why quit now when they, apparently are going in a new direction with this one?

We may not like all the new choices they are going with but atleast it's not the same old thing again. I hope it sells tremendously well.

But if they keep with the Ultimate Tenkaichi series, won't you be a little upset since they're "limiting" the gameplay?

As stated in multiple interviews so far, this is Spike's last game. Their models and stuff can be used by the next company if so desired, but they won't be making another game after this unless Namdai renews their contract.

I know it is. That's why I said if they keep with the UT series.

I have 3 things:

1. Do the people on youtube not know how to play the game, or is it really as simple as (quick combo)-->(rock paper scissors button mashing) for the whole time that your playing? Does anyone know what I mean? I feel like Tenkaichi 3 had a a decent amount of combo variation that was in real time, without cut scenes, but it seems like after you do a BASIC combo on this game..there is a cut scene with button mashing.

2. Why does Trunk's head look so big/mis shapen? I've watched Kai recently, and Trunks is like the only character that looks really weird to me...does anyone else see this?

3. Other than that, I like everything about this game and the Character designs. How likely do you think it is for Spike to get the license renewed? I mean..who else is going to do the series?
PLAY B3YOND.

They don't know how to play it yet.

I think It would be a nice addition if a character would revert back to their previous form when hit hard enough.

This would mainly apply to SSJs, and Perfect Cell, allowing him to turn into his 2nd form and if he self destructs, he alternatively becomes Super Perfect Cell (he could still transform to Super Perfect Cell from his Perfect Cell) Plus I think it would create a much more bigger challenge for players (Especially for people who constantly use Super Vegetto online)
GT isn't bad, just sucks ass in comparison to the other 2 animes.

goku the krump dancer wrote:The game is looking better I admit but its faaaar from perfect. Honestly to me the only thing this game seems to have going for it is the explosions and the battle damage(Theres a video with Trunks fighting and he has ripps in his pant and his jacket). The auras look good too, especially Broly's and Freeza's and I'm anxious to see Yi Shin Long's and SSJ4 Gogeta's aura. So basically as far as the DB "LOOK" goes then yeah this game is really good except that Goku's costume is kinda messed up and we dont know if thats going to change or not.
No DBZ game will ever be " perfect " because there are way too many interpretations and opinions of what people consider " perfect ". People, like me on the other hand, don't care to bust a mental nerve. I just want this game to have a great aesthetic (Check !), feel and look powerful (Check !), have great dynamic gameplay (Check !), and be fun and enjoyable to play (Check.... Despite the sucky expo gameplay videos so far, but that's subject to change in talented hands.).

And the presentation is a beauty. The hubs/menus look very DBZ much like Budokai 3, BT2 & BT3, and Super DBZ. Raging Blast 1 & 2 hubs were blah.

I had fun with every DBZ game and never really complained. I always had fun alone and with my friends. I never see the big hubbub about all the flaws; when I play it's always a grand time :)
