Yeah, it seems like the idea is making it more 'simple' and 'streamlined'. But it just seems like they're gutting any complexity that most detractors of these games aren't aware of existing in the first place.
The game's pros:
Character Creation
Nice graphics
New story animations
Boss characters
Cons:
Character Creation is extremely limited to race, gender and customization
Diminutive character roster
Bizarre character omissions
Lack of individuality
Quick-Time Events identical between characters
Camera is a mess
The cons trump the pros by a leaps and bounds. The QTE are what really put me off from Budokai 3.

I've got to admit, whether he fought or not, not having Base Teen Gohan is just absolutely ridiculous.
I don't mind small character rosters but this game's selection is just ridiculous. What's the point of SSJ4 Gogeta and Omega being playable if no other GT Characters are? No Goku/Vegeta as Super Saiyan 4? Just leave it out all together and stick it in a sequel!
Guldo might be pointless, but why just leave him out? Only having 4 members of the Ginyu Force is just another reason this game is going to feel so incomplete, especially seeing as all the character models already exist.
The boss fights, while they look cool, seem to be slow, clunky and repetitive.
There's so many details where I find myself simply asking... Why???

I feel that if they were going to exclude base forms that didn't fight, exclude base Future Trunks as well. And they should have Saiyan saga Vegeta as Vegeta's base form.

And it really comes back to all the half-assed GT stuff and Cui instead of relevant Z characters like Goten and Kid Trunks. The mind boggles. It's not the size of the roster for me so much as who's in it.

Awesome looking story - Which I have read, watched and played how many times now? Not even close to being important to me. I may rent the game to play through the Hero Mode and see what they did with that giant What-If tough... $2 is better than $60.
Because if 80% of what we're missing are male saiyans...that's exactly what we can make. Since we do have SSJ4 Gogeta, we might be able to make Goku with little to no difference...all we need is to give him a red KamehameHa and the Dragon Fist

I'm only happy about the character creator because I hope it's the start of a movement towards custom character stuff in anime fighting games.

I was kinda hoping we would see Spike own up to what we've seen in DBO and Heroes and have Humans, Saiyans, Nameks, Majins and Freeza's clan...oh, well

They are always saving for the next game like the costumes or a big roster.That is actually a reason why the Cac isn't as in-depth as it is. The guy I talked to the guy about the Cac beings o limited pretty much said they are saving up for the next game if this does well.
This BS doesn't work anymore,at least with me.
This franchise needs new producers and CyberConnect2.

....Gosh, you guys are acting like a spoiled child. So what if a few characters are omitted? The majority of main characters from previous game are still in this game. You can't always expect this game to be exactly like Meteor in HD where the roster are packed with too much characters. If you want to play Goten, Trunks, Gohan, SSJ4 Goku and SSJ4 Vegeta, they have them in Meteor. Even all Budokai series never had this much roster as the Sparking! series, which is a good thing since the majority of Meteor roster are very flat.
This new game offers something new which we never have had before. You'd have to sacrifice something to gain something, so they did in order to create Hero mode, which looks cool, in my opinion. Not to mention they have gone back to Budokai 3's story mode which we all have adored so much.
You should at least take a look at the game yourself and see what you think of it once it comes out in the store. But right now you shouldn't jump to conclusion just because of the few omitted characters.

Well, I will wait for the next game then
If there will be any after this debacle........ But I will buy it - after some half year that it'll be on the shelves.
I won't pay full price for it, no way. It's like f**king Final Bout but on the next gen.
And I can asure Spike the for me to be lucky, I don't need anything awesome. Raging Blast 3 with story mode and bigger roster then it's predecessors + toss up some extra modes.
Since these experiments always ends in shit, I will bet on classic model.

Answer : Tony Shoupinou confirmed that when you lunch the game, it check for updates online so we can expect some DLC for this game but that's not confirmed yet.
3 - In the video of the opening of the game, the producers announced that CHA-LA HEAD CHA LA song will be the main theme of it, can we expect the same thing for the european countries ?
Answer : Yes, Head Cha La it's indeed the intro music even in European countries and you can play it during the battle.
4 -Can we transform further than the SSJ form with a created character ?
Answer : No only the Super Sayan state is available for the created character.
5- We have seen a huge list of moves in the videos of the characters creation but we are able to choose only two of them during a fight, can we expect some special moves like false courage ?
Answer : No, like we saw on the videos only two attacks are available and you can choose only special attacks that cause damage to the opponent.
6 - What route do you plan to take with the following DBZ games after UT? Carrying on with trying to get a good fighting engine in 3D? Or in 2D? Or maybe a whole different genre, like an RPG?
Answer : Tony told us if this game make some good sell's they will keep this base and improve it with a new gameplay and more characters

Would it be possible to create a way to bring that feeling of the anime to any future titles? It would be similar to Dragonball Z Legends. And is it in any of your plans to explore co-op options? (same system, system link, online or team battles with simultaneous matchups with a targeting ability)

I love how Spike is assuming that they'll make enough money for another game. The thing is they might end up taking my $60 anyway because I'm not really into Gamefly and BlockBuster is damn near extinct, plus I still kinda wanna play this game. See Spike didnt give out a demo for this game for a reason, they knew people would be upset and consider not buying it once they found out the shit we know now, and they didnt want people mastering the combos after just a few playthroughs like they did with RB2 demo. So if some one wanted to even just test the game out they would have to buy it, well atleast in my case.

I can agree with the character stuff because, for the most part, we'll be able to make them ourselves......But why don't we see the "sacrifice" logic applied in other series of games? And not just anime-based games. The logic i keep seeing is "bigger and better" and not "we'll give you more of the same, but different and maybe an improvement or two"...DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:You'd have to sacrifice something to gain something
I guess the major problem comes back to the fact that...they all play the same...again. And if they do play the same, where's the difficulty in having the same roster as we've had in a game that, not only was on a previous generation system, but also took up less space than we have in this generation.
Personally, i'm getting the special edition. I'm digging the boss battles, mini-games, character creation and new animation (despite being aware that new animation should not be a selling point for a game) and the Gohan figure which ironically ISN'T in the game either. The real gameplay of the game is gonna get old really fast though.

WHY?! Why compare a Dragon Ball game to a Naruto game, when you can compare it to a game made by the SAME COMPANY? The Naruto series has them so why not the db games? I mean they didn't always FLOAT in the anime.
Answer : The animations of Dragon Ball requires different animations than Naruto.

But well, without comparing, I somtimes wondered back in BT3, that they can improve it on the next gen.
When you tap on the floor, the character can walk like in Budokai, not staying and then howering weirdly.
Yeah, Naruto games are completely different thing, but I don't see this as impossible task.

I get that, but we've seen how they do run in Zenkai Battle Royal...which is made by the same company and it is a Dragon Ball game, so clearly they can do it... Why the hell don't they do it here? These five points should be part of this game.11 - Can we expect to create Male/Female Saiyajins, Aliens (like Freezer and Cell,Majin Buu),Demons(Dabura,Janemba) Human Characters and Namek Characters in the next DBZ Game?
12 - Can we expect in the next DBZ Game Cell Shading Anime Graphic like the Ultimate Ninja Storm Series?
19 - When will we be able in a future DBZ game to select our costumes for our created characters by selecting separate pieces instead of the whole costume?
24 - Many times in DBZ (anime, specials, and movies) there are characters, heroes and villians, fighting multiple opponents at once. Would it be possible to create a way to bring that feeling of the anime to any future titles? It would be similar to Dragonball Z Legends. And is it in any of your plans to explore co-op options? (same system, system link, online or team battles with simultaneous matchups with a targeting ability)

DBZ Tenkaichi 3 was the most successful dbz game.
After BT2 and BT3, every single thing Spike did was a downgrade despite the fact that people constantly said they want a BT3 HD or BT4.
Bring CyberConnect2 to do it.
