Would you mind snipping the images from your quote? Thanks.
Anyway, it seems that with the release of this box set, the steelbooks are starting to rise in price on Amazon:

I think once box 2 comes out those'll go down. If you look at the first movie, it's pretty cheap.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:Would you mind snipping the images from your quote? Thanks.

I'll just keep them the way they are, as altering the covers & moving them into standard size DVD cases would mean they wouldn't fit stored in the outer box. I'm fine with the way they are.Vegeta1984 wrote:You could easlily modify the covers and make them where they would fit into normal sized 2 disc dvd covers... That's what I'll Be doing....

I'll just re-post me question now that people are starting to purchase this...

The disks are the same, so I'd put my money on no.Gozar wrote:I'll just re-post me question now that people are starting to purchase this...

They are well worth the money.
Re: Dragon Ball Z Movie Pack 1 & 2 (1-9) DVD sets at RightSt
Has anybody seen this set in any stores? I went to Wal-Mart, Target, and Best Buy yesterday and didn't see it. I'll probably have to order it off of the internet.

You can't find it at Best Buy? Then your option probably is to order online. It's cheaper online anyways.

I saw the set at Hastings. #LoveHastings

Aw man, there aren't any Hastings anywhere near me. To Amazon!

I will wait to see if Dragon Box: The Movies comes out before I buy this.
This seams like an obvious ploy by Funimation to make some extra cash before they reveal the true release of the movies in their finest form.
Think about it. The Dragon Boxes have all been released. The true fans have the entire Z series. Now all they need are the movies. So they release these cheap box sets so fans who have completed their "recent" DBZ collection, will pay to get these movies asap and watch them as they watch the series. The steel books were not bought by everyone, including me. These are far cheaper and easier to buy all at once.
Funimation truly does reach out to the hardcore DBZ fans who will ABSOLUTELY buy all the crap they re-release, just so the fan will know that they, "have it all".
I honestly believe we will get the Dragon Ball Z movies in Dragon Box form. I'll wait another year before I consider buying these.

I see, too. I have a feeling this will be like the DBox Vs. Bricks, Price Vs. Quality.
Re: Dragon Ball Z Movie Pack 1 & 2 (1-9) DVD sets at RightSt
Or, FUNi wasn't planning on getting the rights to the DBox and now have to find a way to release that and re-release their own material without much confusion and backlash..dprez wrote:I will wait to see if Dragon Box: The Movies comes out before I buy this.

If you're not here soon... GET ON!
Re: Dragon Ball Z Movie Pack 1 & 2 (1-9) DVD sets at RightSt
If that's the case, these movie box sets are the best release the movies will ever get, excluding future blue-ray releases.AgitoZ wrote:Or, FUNi wasn't planning on getting the rights to the DBox and now have to find a way to release that and re-release their own material without much confusion and backlash..dprez wrote:I will wait to see if Dragon Box: The Movies comes out before I buy this.

I am willing to wait and see if the Movie Dragon Box will be released in the states.
As far as I am concerned, the DBZ movies happen in an alternate universe apart form the DBZ anime. Watching them as you watch the series doesn't make much sense for just about all of the movies.
Watching them all at once after watching the entire series appeals to me more. It's just my fancy I guess, but I know that waiting for a Dragon Box release, compared to settling for these "remastered" versions, will be far, far more worth it in the end.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Movie Pack 1 & 2 (1-9) DVD sets at RightSt
I'll only buy these if it's announce that the Dragon Box movies will not be released. I'd like to have a complete set of full screen and widescreen movie DVDs, and though I complained about these masters earlier, after looking back, the later films look much better than the singles both color wise and detail wise (in terms of color details such as shading lost due to brightening. I've never disputed that the double features had better encoding). I'm pretty sure the reason for that is the same for why the series started looking better. I think the later movies were also done after FUNimation left Franko, and they look really good from what I've seen.
Here's a comparison of a shot in movie 12:
Double Feature:

Single:

Here you can see that not only is much more detail gained, but the colors look more balanced, there are no RGB balance issues (no blue boosting resulting in blueish skin), and no shades are lost due to the over-brightening. The darkest shade on Goku's orange gi seems a bit darker, but it's extremely dark on the singles as well. I can forgive the darkness issues, as those are surely a result of FUNimation's film itself, though I can't defend the entire shading levels removed due to over-brightening the film as seen on movies 1 and 6, and thankfully those seem to be the only real examples of this from what I've seen.
Unlike a few of the earlier movies (pretty much movies 1 and 6, though 3 has some weird colors in places, that's not a huge issue), there are no huge details wiped out here, and you only gain clarity and more natural colors, and for whatever reason, the last couple of movies seem to have worse than usual encoding, so that gives all the more reason to want the later films' double features masters over the singles.
I'd much prefer the Dragon Boxes, but for the most part, these would be okay if we never get those.

I don't think there's any doubt that the double features look far better. (Other than the TV specials being cropped, sadly.)
I just hope that if we don't get the Dragon Box the Movies, they at least do this for Blu-Ray, as the BDs are like 20 a piece.

Honestly? I can see FUNi "Digitially Restoring" and redoing the movies for Blu-ray... I see this happening honestly, well over a DBox for the movies.
