Just saw the Bd commercial on Cartoon Network. It was a great feeling to see that on TV.

Man, I wish I could've seen this.

I wonder if CN is peeved at themselves for letting Dragon Ball Z Kai go on a rival network, especially considering that they tossed all the Toonami stuff aside for "CN Real", which they appear to -finally- have mostly canned by now.

I doubt it. While I'm sure that any popular show would be a good thing for the network, CN is doing just fine with shows like Adventure Time or Regular Show.

It's interesting that in just 10 years, anime went from appearing on every kids network, to barely having a television presence.

Rarely do they include those kinds of things.

I'll wait for the box set or at least something that isn't seventeen episodes per release. They most likely won't be limited, so I may as well bide my time.

They have mostly died. CN Real, I mean. The only shows from that left are Hole in the Wall, and occasional episodes of Dude, What Would Happen, and Destroy Build Destroy.

Which are all canceled now. The only live action show left is Level Up. Which starts out with a CGI movie this week which will probably bomb. But yeah...we are getting off topic.

2.2: 52-67
3.1: 68-83

This doesn't guarantee that all the sets will be released. It all boils down to sales figures.

Correct. If these DBZ Blu-rays aren't profitable then FUNimation might think about cancelling releasing all 18 Blu-ray volumes.

I haven't seen too much positive feedback for DBZ Level 1.1 even. And I'm not a fan of FUNi's DBZ Blu-rays neither.

It's a shame, because these are pretty much perfect.

Really? Do you meant sales? From what I've seen everyone thinks are pretty darn good. Even if they weren't getting the best reception they will still sell well since it's DBZ. I mean look at the Orange Bricks those sold well regardless of all the criticism.

Has FUNimation revealed if their DBZ Level 1.1 was a successful lucrative release? Tho, I'm not sure FUNi does such a thing for the public to know.

When I said feedback, I was referring to reviews/comments.

I'm going to hold till Toei makes their own HD remaster of the complete Dragon Ball Z series.

How can you be sure Toei will? And don't you think there's a chance they'll screw up the colors again?

It doesn't entirely depend on whether or not they're lucrative TBH.
It depends on how much work and how much money has already been spent on this release.

However much work has already been done, that is how much will get released. If it turns out to be profitable at that point, they'll go back and do more.

If they went and did all the remastering work in one shot and already spent the money on remastering all 291 eps, then all 291 eps WILL be released regardless. Because if the money has already been spent and the show is already in the can, then they HAVE to release it all to try to make back as much of their investment as they can.

From the making-of featurettes, they've shown footage till as late as the Early Cyborg arc, I saw Trunks about to blast Freeza and Son, Piccolo and Gohan flying to fight the Cyborgs.

So, they'll release until at least there.

It's Dragon Ball Z folks. This is going to see no matter what. The day FUNimation drops a DBZ release (I'm not talking Ultimate Uncut's case), is the day pigs fly.

I'm not but Toei knows they can make money off Dragon Ball Z and so someday it'll probably happen.

As for the colours, I prefer the Dragon Box colours than FUNimation's DBZ Level 1.1 colours.

You do realise the Dragonbox colours were very inaccurate. 1.1 is by far the closest, in terms of colour, to the original. Go and search up a comparison or something you can try and fix through your TV but the raw footage's colour are off.

No they can't. Not anymore. Why do you think Kai ended before doing Boo?

And the only problem with the DBoxes colors is the slight red cast. a very quick adjustment on the TV or VLC media player fixes this in a jiffy. This is what the Dragon Boxes look like when I watch them.

That's not the only problem. Skies are greener, and yellows are faded and sometimes lost from certain colors (green mostly). Also, not every episode has a red color cast, so you need to change the levels for each episode if you want skin tones to look decent all the way through, otherwise those settings could actually harm some episodes with yellow or green color casts.

That shot is decent, but it's just not the same as a thorough correction:

That's a great example of how I prefer the Dragon Box colours, the skin colour looks better to me and more natural than on FUNi's DBZ Blu-ray Level 1.1, everyone's entitled to their own taste.
