Gameboy Advance DB games
Hey there! I'm thinking of getting a Nintendo DS over the holidays and what with the backwards compatability with the Advance, I'm thinking of getting a few Dragonball games.
So, what would be your recommendations as to which titles I should pick up and which ones should I avoid?
Thanks!

Legacy of Goku 2 and Buu's Fury are super-fun games. Definitely pick them up. I haven't played the first, but I hear it's not all that great. I was able to play the 2nd and 3rd games, respectively, without needing to play the first... 'cuz... uhh... I know what happens in the series
.
Since you're getting a DS, I don't know what the benefits of getting the first Super Sonic Warriors over the second would be, since the second is for the DS, itself.
And there's always Advance Adventure; the European version has an English option. I believe it's Steve's translation, just hacked to all Hell.
Games to avoid seem to include pretty much just Taiketsu.

Wait, what?! It's backwards compatable? Since when?wannywan wrote:what with the backwards compatability with the Advance, I'm thinking of getting a few Dragonball games.

Legacy of Goku 2 and 3 (Get the two-in-one game for Legacy of Goku 1 and 2. Same price, but you're both games so you might as well.), Supersonic Warriors 1 and 2 (2 is on the DS), DBGT I-forgot-the-name ("Transformations?") There's a crappy one who's title escapes my memory, but it's quite possibly the worst Dragonball game ever.wannywan wrote:So, what would be your recommendations as to which titles I should pick up and which ones should I avoid?

Thanks guys! Yeah I'm getting Supersonic Warriors 2 so I might give the first a miss. What do LoG 2 and Buu's Fury play like?
I'm pretty sure it's backwards compatible. On the box it says something like 'dual loading/something similar!' and shows a DS cart and an Advance cart with arrows to different ares on the back of the machine.

Kind of like action RPGs. Think 2D Legend of Zelda games but DBZ. Even though it's not as good I would recommend LOG 1. I still had fun with it. You might as well seeing as they're re-releasing it with LOG2wannywan wrote:Thanks guys! Yeah I'm getting Supersonic Warriors 2 so I might give the first a miss. The DS has two ports, one for DS cards and one for GBA carts. My suggestions would have to be:Wait, what?! It's backwards compatable? Since when?![]()
-Legacy of Goku II (Awesome Action/RPG!)
-Dragonball Z Supersonic Warriors (The best fighter on the GBA, the what-if? storylines are definatley a plus as well.)
I also have SSW2, but I can't open it til Christmas, so I really can't say anything about that one. ><
I really, really need to get back into the habit of posting.

Excellent, I love what-ifs in games. I even invent what-ifs when I play a VS. match against someone on the budokai games ie. If I'm Adult Gohan and may friend is Teen Gohan I always play in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and pretend it's a match between Gohan and an imaginary version of his younger self.....sad but true...-Dragonball Z Supersonic Warriors (The best fighter on the GBA, the what-if? storylines are definatley a plus as well.)

That's not sad, wannywan! I actually love to put the difficulty level on 'very strong' then go on Com vs. Com, and make the computer simulate fights from the beginning of Z, seeing when the story will branch off from the traditional one.Excellent, I love what-ifs in games. I've done that myself too! Ha ha... ah well...That's not sad, wannywan! I actually love to put the difficulty level on 'very strong' then go on Com vs. Com, and make the computer simulate fights from the beginning of Z, seeing when the story will branch off from the traditional one.
Anyway thanks for the info guys-I've only played the budokai games and some of the SNES titles and can't wait to try these Advance/DS titles out!

SSW 1 & 2
Any of the Legacy of Goku games, 1 is a bit dissapointing.
Dragon Ball Advance Adventure. (Question: Is the Japanese voices still present in the European version?)
And to answer any questions, the DS has always been backward compatible. In fact, all of Nintendo's portable systems have been that way (save the Visual Boy).

You can have one of each type of game in a DS at a time. The DS Card slot is on the top of the machine and the Gameboy Advance Cartridge slot is on the bottom of the machine. When you start up the DS it has two pannels on the touch screen; one to start up the DS title and one to start the GBA title. I recommend the following as the best overall Dragonball related handheld games:
Gameboy Advance
Dragonball: Advanced Adventure (Yes, Japanese voices in UK version)
Dragonball Z: Legacy of Goku II
Dragonball Z: Supersonic Warriors
DS
Dragonball Z: Supersonic Warriors II
Has anyone played JUMP Superstars for DS? Is it worth buying?

Jump! Superstars is a very cool game. However, after unlocking all koma you need someone else (with a JSS card) to multiplay with, otherwise you probably won't play it too much after that. If you have such a person, it's really one of the best DS games ever. My game is clocking over 50 hours of gameplay ^_^
(Well, you can download DS play with one card, but you can't use self-made decks ~_~]

The reason I wanted a PS2 is because if I don't have the cash for one now, I'd never have the cash for a PS3. A DS is doable. Well, it's not, but I prefer hand-held cosoles to platforms. Since SSW2 is on DS and it's backwards compatable, it's time for me to trade in my GBC, GBA, link crappy games! Yay Nintendo: my first, current, and future system of choice!Chaos Saiyajin wrote:SWEET! I never knew that!

I really wouldn't see a point in buying a PS2 at this point anyway, seeing as how the PS3 is supposed to come out next year...
Anyway, the DS is a great system, but so is the PS2...Trust in the force, you must, Dayspring.

Dumb question: Will Jump Super Stars play on an American DS?Jump! Superstars is a very cool game. Yep, DS's are regionfree.
My cousin plays on a Hong Kong DS, with JP, US & EU games ;P
Hold it! Buy Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney for the DS

Woah, woah. I hope you know the DS CANNOT play GB/GBC games; it can only play DS and GBA games. If you want to play your GB/GBC games, you'll need to keep your GBC or your GBA.Dayspring wrote:...it's time for me to trade in my GBC, GBA, link crappy games!
