The only art style I like more for the series than the Buu arc is Toriyama's current style. I think Toriyama got better and better as the series progressed.

That's not fair and it's very subjective. The better refferences to do something like that are the illustrations, not the manga, where Toriyama hasn't time. The style of the Buu arc it's basically the same as the Cell arc but it looks done more fast and without care.
Yes and no. I still went with all manga and non-title art except for one which was Dragonball Goku.

Okay, get the art pieces he did from each arc. The Buu arc still lacks compared to earlier. I don't like his current style now either. It looks odd.
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

I hope this special makes way for more, I personally would like to see one for Trunks. Since Bardock got one it's only fair that Trunks gets one too, explaining his transformation into Super Saiyan 3 and his Buu Arc.

We need a SS3 Trunks special, and then a SS3 Broli/Vegeta special. I think its only fair that all of them get to show off their forms in animated glory. lol

I can't tell if you're sarcastic, but I really hope you are...
I mean, EXPECTING that kind of thing is one thing. The Dragon Ball features nowadays seem to be all about promoting merchandise, so it's not too far-fetched to think that type of special is possible. Personally, I'd hope for more back story explaining things that happened in the series, or even the movies. Like what was said in the podcast, maybe some more lore on the deities, or on the origins of the Saiyans, or even how Coola learned to sense ki and achieve his new form. There might actually be some substance there, rather than "they got stronger" or "they fought a really strong guy and the transformation was randomly triggered".

No I'm not being sarcastic. Would I like specials that detail past events like the cataclysm on Namek, Tenshinhans training as an assassin, or how Yamcha became a bandit? Yes. But the one thing that irks me more than anything is when they introduce a new character, or a form for a character, and then really do nothing with it besides slapping it on a trading card a couple times a year. Some stuff I wouldn't mind seeing just for the sake of having the characters animated:

-ANOTHER Broli return (SS3 Vegeta, SS3 Broli)
-Future Buu Battle (SS3 Trunks,)
-Neko Majin Z (Z, Onio, Kurieza, Yamhan, maybe Kurilien?)
-Funny OVA, similar to the FMA Cast Party OVA (Can feature Buu absorbing Vegeta, Cell, Freeza. Plus feature all the Heroes avatars, etc.)

I would love a SS3 Broly/SS3 Vegeta ova, the trailer for the two of them in the Dragon Battlers series got me really interesting in them.

The only problem I have with a SS3 Trunks ova is that I don't believe he would be stronger than Majin Boo even as a SS3.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Well there could be a couple of factors, the biggest one would have to question Buu's revival. How and where was he revived in the first place, because the Earth has next to no population and only one really strong fighter. The second would be Trunks obtaining SS3, even Vegeta didn't think about a 3rd form after training for seven years...so how would Trunks?.

Balancing those two questions, the only quasi-logical way I would believe Trunks could obtain SS3 would be by training in the RoSaT, so in his timeline, he could possibly have another 2 years of training in 2 days situation. Add that together with Babidi being unable to revive Buu at his full power, and you could probably come close to a plausible plot.

I hadn't considered that... it would be likely for Boo to be revived at less than full power, given the state of the Earth and the fact that Trunks is likely the only person left with enough energy to matter.

That would be realy cool, and I hope it will happen. I want to add 2 more things though:
-A special featuring Yamhan
-DBO OVA mini-series
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Does CDJapan ship to Portugal(Europe)? I'd get that AND the Special Selection DVD at once :D

EDIT:
3 - DVD and/or Blu-Ray double feature: "Heya! Son Goku and his friends return!" and "Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans"
SO CLOSE! (I was talking about a western release, but still)

I find it strange they got Kai before the '08 Jump Special. Maybe Funi didn't like it and thought it was too cheesy or kiddy compared to what they usually like to market DB as.

No. In fact, from what we've heard FUNi (along with the rest of the fanbase) would like nothing more than to get their hands on it. But it seems to be stuck in licensing hell.

Why wouldn't they want it, it's new DBZ.

Unfortunately, CDJapan has the Special Selection DVD labeled as "out of print", so unless that changes next month, you won't be getting it there.

You could try Amazon Japan, though.

I honestly hope they get it. I'd really like to see that sushi scene dubbed in English. I think they'd pull it off pretty well.
