It was never stated that Cold was stronger, and Cold says that anyone capable of defeating Freeza would be the strongest in the universe, so obviously Cold isn't stronger.Pieter wrote:Wasn't it stated that Cold was stronger than Freeza? And that Freeza had become stronger himself?
The two of them together had a much bigger chance. Also Cold considered blowing up Earth right away. Since both can 'breath in space' they must have figured that blowing up earth could be an exit route.

Re: Freeza coming to Earth. What was he thinking?
Pride before reason? Sure, but not when he came back to Earth- knowing his enemy, having new body and father by his side Frieza he grained some advantages. Plus he couldn't let be the fact that someone who had nearly beaten him to death is still wandering Galaxy making Cold's not-so-awesome for his ow n people. Unfortunately for him, on Earth once more he underestimated his enemy- stand to fight alone, laughed while not sure that he was dead. Wouldn't be more reasonable for King Cold to back stab Trunks while he was busy fighting?

What was it that Tenshinhan said to Chiaotzu when they sensed Freeza approaching earth? I thought he stated Freeza was together with another more powerful ki? But maybe what I remember was just a bad translation.Saiga wrote:It was never stated that Cold was stronger, and Cold says that anyone capable of defeating Freeza would be the strongest in the universe, so obviously Cold isn't stronger.Pieter wrote:Wasn't it stated that Cold was stronger than Freeza? Which of course, Tenshinhan never sensed Freeza's Ki before, so he doesn't know who is he talking about.

Re: Freeza coming to Earth. What was he thinking?
I think his main motivation was to kill all Goku's friends and destroy the planet before Goku even arrived and leave.
Obviously Goku still would have stopped him because by that time he learned IT and could just teleport to Earth from his ship.

Re: Freeza coming to Earth. What was he thinking?
Yeah, I think it's just that he put up a decent fight against Goku at full-power, and may've put his loss down to the fact that he was losing power and/or him getting sliced in half. So his cybernetic adjustments may've granted him so much power that he believed he could take Goku. And, if he couldn't do that alone, he had King Cold to back him up. If that didn't work, he could just blow up the planet and leave in his spaceship. In his eyes, he wins either way.

Re: Freeza coming to Earth. What was he thinking?
I think you're missing the point as to why he came to Earth. It was to destroy it infront of Goku and with Frieza at Full Power and with his Mecha upgrade he could have planet busted the hell out of Earth leaving no home for Goku to come back to. Even if Goku made it back in time what could he do if the planet was in the process of being destroyed? It would have been pretty much Planet Namek all over again.

King Cold: “The Earthlings don’t matter; the Super Saiyan alone we absolutely must exterminate, by any means. The one who holds the greatest power in the universe must without a doubt be our clan”
King Cold: “My, you are capable, aren’t you? Marvelous, truly more than I imagined…To think that you could wipe my son Freeza out in that instant…How about it? Will you take Freeza’s place and become my child? Certainly you, the strongest in the universe, are qualified to join my clan.”
The line you're thinking of is anime exclusive but that was only King Cold>Suppressed Mecha Freeza.
In the manga it goes;
Mecha Freeza>Organic Freeza>>Suppressed Mecha Freeza(most likely 50%)~King Cold(likely suppressed)

Re: Freeza coming to Earth. What was he thinking?
No, he came to Earth for revenge against Goku by killing all the Earthlings before killing him. King Cold mentioned that Freeza could destroy Earth in an instant, but Freeza said that wouldn't be satisfying.Hitiro wrote:I think you're missing the point as to why he came to Earth. That doesnt really matter. He could still charge up to his full power.Saiga wrote:Freeza probably also lost power, however.Mystic Gohan wrote:No reason to believe that namek ssj goku would be weaker than a fresh one. Trunks demolished Cold and Freeza, and Goku was still stronger than him. Goku can't have gotten a lot stronger if he was only training to use Shunkan-Ido. Re: Freeza coming to Earth. What was he thinking?
It doesn't mean he has to be at 120,000,000 however. He charged up to max, but his maximum while injured is probably lower than his rested maximum. I can't believe he would be at his full power level while that injured.Mystic Gohan wrote: That doesnt really matter. He could still charge up to his full power.

That doesnt make sense then. Why wouldnt you be able to charge to full power if you are injured. Plus thats boring. Gotta think of it from a writing standpoint. The last battle is always the strongest people. Also if you are injured and you can't charge to full, then gokus kamehameha on kid buu shouldnt have killed him. And if you tell me that an injured kamehameha if goku could kill him, then a fresh goku should have stomped kid buu, but they were even.Saiga wrote:It doesn't mean he has to be at 120,000,000 however. What are you even talking about? Goku didn't kill Boo with a Kamehameha. And it's shown before that someone's injuries can lower their battle power, how doesn't that make sense?Mystic Gohan wrote:That doesnt make sense then. Toughest, maybe. Hardest? No, as proven in the Boo arc.Mystic Gohan wrote: The last battle is always the strongest people.
Re: Freeza coming to Earth. What was he thinking?
He thought his power-up would probably put him at an advantage, yes.hleV wrote:Did he seriously think he'd powered up enough to handle SSJ Goku?
No, he actually said that he could 'probably' do it, but with his father helping him out, it should be a definitive win. It's not like he wasn't too sure, he was very confident, implying that he'd do it easily, right?
He would have a good idea of Goku's strength based on their fight, ki-sensing or not.He can't sense ki, so he doesn't know how strong SSJ Goku was, yet...
Goku on Namek, probably. Obviously not stronger than the returned Goku. Was Mecha Freeza so much stronger than his prior self that he'd now be even stronger than SSJ Goku?
He does say this.Or was Mecha Freeza including King Cold's support into his plan to defeat Goku?
Not out of the realm of possibility, but since he did in fact power-up and wasn't getting completely destroyed by Goku, it's not stupid for him to think his power-up may do the difference.Or was he... simply idiot?
Most likely.Or was it a plot device to show what a weakling he is compared to Trunks? No, this is a in-universe discussion.
Re: Freeza coming to Earth. What was he thinking?
What was he thinking, you ask? "I'll get you, monkey! And your little planet, too." Or something along those lines.
But seriously, it was a simple revenge mission that went horribly, horribly wrong for the robo-tyrant. He had managed to survive what looked to be certain death, received repairs, and even better - a hefty power up in the process. He knew that if he fought at full strength, he'd have a chance at taking out Goku (assuming his power would be the same as it was on Namek). Then some random kid shows up, kills his men, transforms into Freeza's worst nightmare and slices him up with minimal effort. Pretty bad result. He'd never have expected it in a million years, and to top it off this kid came from the future. Did Freeza's civilisation have anything in the ways of technology to even dream of time travel? I'd say not.
So I'd say he was actually thinking straight when he decided to visit and eventually destroy the Earth. As we saw, the rest of the Z Senshi were panicked out of their minds when they felt his ki, even if they teamed up they would have had no hope. Freeza would have expected a tough fight with Goku though, and may have needed his father's help, as he alluded to.

This.Perfect wrote:I believe he was delusional thinking he lost because he was beaten unfairly; getting cut in half by his own attack, etc.
Plus his severe delusion of being the most powerful in existence and utterly unbeatable. No Saiyan monkey could ever defeat Freeza-sama, right?
Re: Freeza coming to Earth. What was he thinking?
I always thought that Freeza bringing his father to Earth with him seemed like something a schoolyard bully would do after getting beaten up. Bully gets beaten up, then cries to his dad that "some mean kid at school beat me up". I lol every time I think about this.

Re: Freeza coming to Earth. What was he thinking?
I believe that King Cold was the one who found a near-death, cut-in-half Freeza floating in space, and had his soldiers give him repairs and cybernetic enhancements that increased his strength (I think the anime may've touched on this). Hearing that the one who caused his son to fall into such a state was a Super Saiyan, he expressed a desire to accompany Freeza to Earth to ensure the defeat of the person who threatened the superiority of their clan. Freeza, not caring much either way and perhaps as gratitude for reviving him, allowed him to tag along on his revenge mission, knowing that at least with his father by his side, he was assured victory against Goku.Masa95000 wrote:I always thought that Freeza bringing his father to Earth with him seemed like something a schoolyard bully would do after getting beaten up.
