Shenron in Tekken 5?

Post by Bejiita » Sun Dec 25, 2005 4:52 pm

I had to post this, I bought Tekken 5 for Christmas(just to say it's an awesome fighting game), and on one of the levels there is a Dragon that looks nearly identical to Shenron, it's even grasping a ball in it's hand like a Dragonball or something. It doesn't have the whole body, but the face looks similar.

What do you think, no?

Just thought I'd mention this. I'm still trying to find a better picture of it.

Oh yea, Merry Christmas.

I wouldn't be surprised if any of the development team were fans (especially of the original Dragon Ball, which is the most martial arts themed). But then again, I think most oriental (or whatever the term is) dragons do look like long serpents with many arms and sideburns.

Look at the background in the first picture. Upper right corner. It looks a lot like Shenlong.

Ah cool, another fan of Tekken on these boards. Yes it is an awesome game, especially fighting with Asuka in her special kimono outfit. 8) She's cool. Anyway, I remember thinking the same thing about that arena when I first played the game. I just sort chuckled to myself about it and then went back to having Hwoarang pound on Baek. XP

Not so much a Tekken fan, although I think it's pretty cool, and I used to play it back in the day, and the end movies are real treats.

I also wanted to say that Heihachi's voice is very like Mr. Satan's, either that or Japanese voices sound the same.

And yea, I was going to mention the dragon in the background ChaotixXero but I thought that it didn't llok like Shenron's twisting body, although it can stretch out if it wants.

If you type in "oriental dragon" in a Google Image search, you'll find a bunch of Shenrons. :P
Like Dominator said, it's just what they traditionally look like. I don't think Akira Toriyama's is supposed to be anything particularly unique.

Heh heh, that's because it IS the very same voice actor that does Mr. Satan, Daisuke Gouri. He's been Heihachi's voice for as long as the Tekken franchise has existed. There are a couple of seiyuus related to DB that do voices in Tekken. Yumi Touma who did Deedlit in Record or Lodoss War & some extra voices in DB, does Ling Xiaoyu. Takeshi Aono who voiced Piccolo Daimao and Kami-sama did Jinpachi Mishima.

I thought so, well, tell a lie, it was my brother who first mentioned the voice sounds familiar, he was also the one who said Mr. Satan too. Beat me to it. Nice to know other voices are from Dragonball, mainly Piccolo being Jinpachi Mishima, I didn't realise that one. Despite the fact I was just trying to beat him with Law about 30 times and his laugh is what comes up first.

Ya, the character he plays in Tekken is sort of similar to Piccolo Daimao, kind of diabolical. Except he's possessed by a demon, whereas Piccolo pretty much IS one. And dang that laugh gets annoying once you've heard it a hundred times. :x I got so mad when he kept finishing off Asuka(first character I played through with), at the last second when I was so close to getting him with that dang firebreath thing! Gave her a break and used Lee to kick his ass! Felt really good too!

You should look at the cast of the Dead or Alive games, at least half the cast had a part in Dragonball at one point or another. >.>;;

Edit: Oh heck, for your convenience I went ahead and did some research.
Daisuke Gouri = Heihachi = Mr. Satan = Bass
Takeshi Aono = Kami-sama = Gen-fu (= Tazuna in Naruto)
Bin Shimada = Broly = Zack
Toshio Furukawa = Piccolo = Jann Lee
Hideyuki Hori = Ginyu-Taishou = Hayabusa
Kouji Totani = Draculaman = Leon
Hikaru Midorikawa = Jinzoningen 16/Paikuhan = Hayate/Ein
Osamu Saka = grandfather Son Gohan = Tengu/Genra
Banjou Ginga = King Vegeta = Bayman
Plus others who've done either minimal characters or movie only characters in the Dragonball verse. XD

But on the original topic, nothing special really, that indeed is your typical oriental style dragon. 13 in a dozen of those. XD
So in short, the Dead or Alive games are nothing short of Dragonball seiyuu reunions XD

You have to play as Asuka. Her ending is worth it :D

Even so, I used to think that Shenron was pretty damn unique, even though there were other oriental dragons similar as well. And I actually didn't notice Heihachi's voice actor also did Mr.Satan as well, it didn't sound as similar as I thought it was (Or perhaps I haven't heard much of Mr.Satan..)

THe guy who played Mr. Satan does Heihachi? Talk about your broad spectrum of characters. Then again, we had that in the old dub with Vegeta and Yajirobe sharing the same VA, and various other cartoons. And I'm not just talking about the evil twin situations.

As soon as I heard Bass' "Resuuringu saikyou!", I totally knew it was Mr. Satan. I only suspected Heihachi was Mr. Satan, though.

But indeed, Long (or "Lung") are commonplace in Asian media. Some look more like Shenlong than others, however.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

Oh I was done with through the game months ago. Finished up all the story modes for the charcaters in one night as a matter of fact. Pathetic I know.XP Yes I do agree that her ending is great. Poor Jin!XD He's probably still trying to figure out what happened.

And a voice actor SHOULD have good versatility like that. I said this earlier tonight in chat. Gouri's as mean sounding in his Heihachi role as he's as goofy in his Mr. Satan one.

I think, completing the game in one day is out of the question(well, for me it is), even if I excluded dinner, going to the toilet and crap like that(which I would not do), I still wouldn't, not couldn't, wouldn't, it would drain all the fun out of the game. It's like a waste of money, anyway, I put the game on medium setting, and sometimes the game can get frustrating, I hardly ever because I'm stoned most of the time, but my brother gets mad and shouts when the computer seems unbeatable. The only think I do when I'm pissed is say 'Fuck!', not that loud, but loud enough, and I squeeze the pad hard, usually end up hurting my hands. I never go nuts though, if it pissed me off too much, I wouldn't play it.

I enjoy playing two player team battle with my brother or friends, 8 characters, sometimes random.

I don't know if this counts as a detail, but during the intro song, I've heard "Sparking!" mentioned quite a few times. Reference to Dragon Ball, maybe?

I think it's safe to say that you're reading way too much into the game if you think that. :)
