FUNi knows its fans want DBZ on Blu-ray part of the "Level" collection so there's a chance of FUNimation coming back to release them, though, it'd probably have inferior quality to the first two published.

The Level collection would've been perfect for me if they featured the original Japanese cards and Next Episode Previews, but they didn't. :(

^ This is basically why I didn't bother with the Level's collection, though it is close to the original broadcast, in terms of colour-settings.

Something just occured to me. If you think about it, the only way they could release the original broadcast audio is if they kept the original master audio tapes (which of course, as is well-documented, they didn't).
Have you forgotten about the VHS/Betamax recordings from the original broadcast by Kei17 and etc?

Grab all the episodes, rip the audio, put em on the disc. Bam, easy. :P

Does kei17 have the high quality audio track for EVERY episode? Has he made them available to anybody else?

I would love to mux together an episode with dragon box video for some awesome quality goodness. I also find it strange that the dragon box japanese track is encoded in stereo, not sure why they did this when it was recorded in mono.

I don't care about extras and things. I just want to watch the show like this:
  • Every episode, remastered on Blu-ray. This should include color correction similar to the Funi BDs, but without the darker detail getting obscured.
  • Original Japanese title cards and credits
  • Next-episode-previews BEFORE credits
  • Original next-episode-previews with movie previews/ticket giveaways and preview for Trunks special
  • Good quality Japanese audio
  • Everything properly redubbed with the Kai cast

Frame damage isn't intentional.

Well...grain isn't intentional either. I dont think Akira Toriyama intentionally drew little dots all over his artwork :P

A lot of guys want the next episode previews. If I may ask, why such a big deal about them? Is it because they want to hear Goku talk on them, or just really, really completionist? Just asking as I know lots of guys tend to skip them on other releases if they're not feeling lazy or want to avoid spoilers.

There are a lot of reasons people want them. The main one being that they're a part of the show. People want the purest experience possible and that includes the NEPs. Not to mention we've only just recently got them again thanks to the DBoxes.

There's no reason not to include them if possible. If people don't want to see them then skip them, but don't take away the option for others.
If you're not here soon... GET ON!

They were featured originally in the broadcast, it's a more complete version with them than others and they're interesting to watch regardless if what I'm seeing is going to show up next.

The NEPs are still a rarity since only the Dragon Boxes Z had them.

Spain had its own Dragon Box Z boxes but they didn't even contain the NEPs. x_x

I want everything :)

But really, I want all the extras like the previews and eye catches, mix and match dialogue/music with Japanese, Funi, Ocean (yeah I know, highly unlikely). Basically I want a release that would make everyone happy so you don't need multiple versions to get everything. But I want options to, because I want to have the option to watch the NEP, eyecatches, etc, etc but most of the time I want to go into a marathon mode and just play the show without any of that stuff or even opening/closing credits, just keep playing the show.

Ocean didn't do all 276 episodes edition, they missed quite a lot still, so to cover the undone dubbed eps they'd probably use FUNi old DBZ dub VAs.

^ This is one of the reasons why people want an Ocean Kai dub.

I'm starting to wonder if there's really an Ocean Kai going to be released, or if it was even done. Apparently yes, but none's been shown, not even a teaser or trailer.

Yeah IIRC they're missing episodes 54-107. So of course those wouldn't have the option but it would still be nice to have it on the others. Though I guess the bigger problem would be the whole uncut thing. I would rather have uncut episodes and did Ocean even do that?

Ocean cut some footage here and there in most, if not all of the episodes they dubbed, so the footage for their dub is not completely uncut.

It's simple for me.

In fullscreen, uncut, and with the option of the America music.

He made it seem like remastering is a terrible thing that destroys the image. It doesn't. It's just sometimes fucked up, but if done properly, it can make the image look much better. Grain is not a defect. It's supposed to be there. Damage is not. But that's not the point of this topic.
And what does Toriyama's art have to do with them remastering the anime?

I was simply saying that while grain is part of the image, it is not intended to be there. It HAS to be there due to the nature of 16mm film. AT's drawings didnt have grain on them for example, the grain becomes present when putting it onto film.

I wasn't actually talking about remastering in any way, I was just saying what was intended to be seen :P
