VA's who come close or are on-par with the original Seiyuu.
As the topic title says, which VA's do you find who come close or are on par with the original Seiyuu?
One example I'll throw out is Chris Rager as Mr Satan. Probably the best English equivalent of Daisuke Gōri's Mr Satan ever. Maybe if Rager learned Japanese he could fill in Gōri's role as him?
What about you?

I think both Kyle Hebert and Brad Swaile's older Gohan are just as good as Masako Nozawa's.
Laurie Steele's younger Kuririn is as good to me as Mayumi Tanaka's.
J Michael Tatum's Zarbon in Kai is about as good as the Japanese VA.
Maxey Whitehead's Dende is as good as either of the Japanese voices.
(Hope we're not just talking about sound-alikes.)

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Mr. Satan. Closest by far.

Nah, sound-alikes are not all that important. The main quality goes to those who can capture the feeling of the originals.penguintruth wrote: (Hope we're not just talking about sound-alikes.)

I actually really like Rick Robertson as Dabra from the Buu arc. His voice is appropriately menacing for the character and I think it's on par with the Japanese version.

I think Kaioshin's portrayal in both languages is superb, both actors showcase the sort of mystical calmness he has, especially when he's introduced into the story. Credit to Kent Williams as the English VA, who I see also voiced Dr. Gero, another adaptation I thought was quite good.

If Kai is permitted, then Chris Ayres as Freeza would be up there with Nakao.

I think MasakoX's Gokuu in DBZ Abridged is the best English voice actor for him by far, on par with Masako Nozawa's. It perfectly captures his innocence, while also nailing the more serious moments.

The Tenkaichi Budokai announcer might even be superior in the dub.
That's kinda the end of my list.

I think Monica Rial's Bulma is up there.

Colleen Clickenbeard's Gohan is on my list. She perfectly portrayed the "annoying" personality Gohan had towards the beginning and portrayed the badass older Gohan towards the end (though I kind of prefer Stephanie Nadolny for Cell Game Gohan; Colleen's voice is a little to high).
So mondo lame.
