My inner 14 year old wanted to make such a huge post detailing why HD is one of the greatest fighters and if anything doesn't get enough notoriety.

I think Atari only re-release the game was to cash in on GT run on Toonami at the time. I'm pretty sure Atari didn't re-dub the game since they didn't want to pay the voice actors seeing that they were doing voice recording for Budokai 3 at the time. If I was Bandai in 1997, I would have released Dragon Ball Z: Goku Hishoden (Dragon Ball Z: Goku's Soaring Legend) to the US instead since that game covers the Saiyajin Saga.

Hyper Dimension is really pretty, but it's also slow as fuck.

We got the French version of Final Bout in my country, not so sure about the American version as I only played that at someone's house and don't know if it was a legal copy. A friend at some point gave his game to me because he was ahead of the curve and considered it to be ass even back then. This was post-2000 though, the franchise was virtually unknown here before it started airing. I remember playing Final Bout at my cousin's a lot, grinding my Vejito and SSJ4 Goku by wrecking Trunks over and over, just so I could hear his amazing theme. I still listen to the OST sometimes, but I don't dare to actually sit down with the game anymore. It's probably unplayable now, but the fond memories remain.

Hyper Dimension is pretty cool, but too slow for this day and age. Now Chou Saiya Densetsu, that's a game I can still beat over and over. ;)

I was born in 1997, so I don't think I'd be playing 'Final Bout'. I'm not even sure if the game came out in New Zealand, it was just one of those things that I discovered on the internet (that happened to have an awesome opening!).

Yeah, the opening is amazing, and the music in general is great.... But it's got nothing else going for it apparently. I've never played it myself, also being born in 1997, so I was treated with all the PS2 games as a little kid... though I regretfully refused to indulge myself in the franchise until like 3 years ago.

I'm 99% sure that Final Bout was not only the first DB game to feature Super Saiyan 4, but also started the trend of video games giving it a kickass deep orange-red aura instead of the standard Super Saiyan gold it had in GT. So we have THAT to thank it for, at least.

Reaching, I know. :P

The music wasn't exactly great. I mean, the compositions were pretty good and I liked that they used a lot of stuff from the Super Nintendo games, but the arrangements were pretty horrible.

I think the soundtrack was passable. Not as good as Ultimate Battle 22's, but still good nonetheless.

This was the first game to play as SSj4 Goku, that's one good thing about this game. You don't play as SSj4 Goku again until several years later when Budokai 3 was released in 2004.
