Japaneese VA in English Tenkaichi
I don't know if this has been discussed, but has anyone noticed how when Long Haired Trunks (I forget which form) fires his Finishing Buster, he says "Finishing Butta" like in Japaneese, it's clearly the Japaneese VA. Why is this? Did they simply screw up?
Vegito: What do you call a Goku & a Vegeta? Gogeta sounds nice.

Yeah, it has been brought up. It seems to be a well-known bug in the game. I heard it too.
I'm not sure if there are any other attacks that get the wrong voiceover though. But I have noticed that if you save your game with the Japanese voices on, and go and play it again later, the dialogue is all in English again (even with the Japanese voice setting on), but a lot more (if not all; I don't remember) of the in-battle sounds are accidentally spoken in Japanese too.
It's like only the dialogue during cutscenes is English, and the battle sounds are in Japanese. They really screwed up that voice option thing in saving and loading games.

If I'm assuming right and you guys are indeed talking about Budokai Tenkaichi, then yeah, that game is full of that sort of thing. For instance, if you play as SSJ 4 Goku and Vegeta in duel mode with English VA’s, you will hear them open the battle in English and end it in Japanese, (at least Goku will, but I'm not sure about Vegeta because I always played as SSJ 4 Goku.) I can't think of other examples right now, but it is very annoying indeed.
EDIT: Come to think of it, Tenkaichi is specifically mentioned in the title of the thread. Duh!

If anyone's STILL having trouble with that glitch of the FUNi VAs being on after loading the game with the Japanese VAs saved, just go to Options, turn the Japanese VAs off, then turn them right back on, and everything will be fine and dandy. It is annoying to have to do that everytime you load the game back up, but at least the Japanese VAs' option doesn't have voice glitches where the FUNi VAs speak. I would deem that as more annoying than those "Trunks' Burning Attack" and "end of SSJ4 Goku Vs. SSJ4 Vegeta" glitches with the FUNi VAs on.

I just leave them off and save 'em that way.Conan the SSJ wrote:If anyone's STILL having trouble with that glitch of the FUNi VAs being on after loading the game with the Japanese VAs saved, just go to Options, turn the Japanese VAs off, then turn them right back on, and everything will be fine and dandy.
If I want to play with English on, I don't have to do a thing, and there won't be additional voice glitches like I mentioned before.
If I want to play with Japanese on, I only have to switch it on, instead of switching it off, then on again.

I sound so lazy when I make a big deal out of saving myself an extra button press or two to avoid switching twice to get the Japanese.

Finishu Baastaa, if I'm not mistaken. Or something close. But it's definately not "Finishing Butter"...!he says "Finishing Butta"
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

I was about to buy Tenkaichi, but then I heard about those glitches. I decided to wait for a Greatest Hits Version, hoping that the problem will be solved in that version.

It is a good idea to wait till the price goes down for Tenkaichi, I was lucky to get it for $42 rather than the full $50. Seriously speaking, the aforementioned glitches are really the only technical problems with the game, and they're really just audio glitches. I doubt Atari's gonna go to the trouble of fixing the glitches for the "Greatest Hits" release considering the crap they went through with the "Greatest Hits" Budokai 3. Also, I'd go as far as to say the North American/European release is superior to the Japanese release in the aspects of it being fully translated, the Japanese and FUNi dub VAs being both included, and the NA/EU release has everything the Japanese release does, with only the music from DBZ's Japanese version being substituted with recycled Budokai music for the in-game music. After playing the game, I'm glad I got a new version cheaper than the retail, but I agree that you 'oughta wait for the "Greatest Hits" release or for the actual release to go down to $20 - $30. I still doubt the "Greatest Hits" release will include any fixed aspects, but it's your money and patience.ngnikolaos wrote:I was about to buy Tenkaichi, but then I heard about those glitches. I absolutely would have gotten the American version of the game had it included the original Japanese music. I have nothing against Kenji Yamamoto and the Budokai score; I *loved* it all. However, the very fact that the game included the original Japanese BGM was a major selling point for me.
I, too, didn't know that the American version was plagued with a few glitches until I had already received and had been playing Sparking! for a week or so.
I agree that there's no reason to do an enhanced "Greatest Hits" version of this game. It already includes any "bonus" material (being the Japanese voices), and since it came out at essentially the same time as the Japanese version, there aren't any extra costumes, characters, etc. from that game they could hype up.

Indeed, the Budokai score was awesome. I remember dreaming about a DBZ game with hard rock BGMs back in the PS1 / SNES days, and the Budokai series delivered it with a bang. I hope they continue in next DBZ games in the same way.VegettoEX wrote:I have nothing against Kenji Yamamoto and the Budokai score; I *loved* it all. .

Funny, I made the same thought after watching some videos for Sparking! The Japanese anime music score is as "close to the show" as you can get, but some songs are too small or too slow to go with the pace of the game. In my opinion always.

I noticed that SSJ4 Gogeta always stated his lines in English, even when the Japanese audio was on. Very strange indeed. >_<t-bone135 wrote:If I'm assuming right and you guys are indeed talking about Budokai Tenkaichi, then yeah, that game is full of that sort of thing. Unfortunately no, there's no way to listen to "We Gotta Power!" on the North American and European releases. The, as you put it, "lame-o music" is the only music you can hear in the opener. I honestly don't mind it, it's better than if they'd included Rock the Dragon like they did for Budokai 1's "CHA-LA" animation sequences. If you wanna watch the Budokai Tenkaichi opening with "We Gotta Power", just DL the Sparking! release version on the front page of Daizenshuu EX.Jord wrote:By the way, does anyone know if there's a way to trigger a We Gotta Power-intro instead of the lame-o music?
