Story mode of any type for Chou DBZ?
Just a curious question, does Chou DBZ have a story mode, or is it just a straight forward arcade fighter (shades of Butoden 3, Ultimate Battle 22, and GT Final Bout)? Personally, I wouldn't mind if there isn't, nor will be an attempted one for the Ps2 'port of it. We already have 5 other Ps2 games before Chou that have been doing the same story we all know and love to its limit and beyond, so it wouldn't matter much to me if the Ps2 'port of Chou doesn't get one. Hell, the graphics, game-play, arenas, and character choices are looking great (Chichi!). If all were getting is a Duel mode, World Tournament option, and Survival thing, it may turn out to be just as enjoyable as a new story mode, especially with how great the game is looking. Though, the question begs to be asked, is there a story mode in the Japan arcade game? Also, if anyone knows yet, will there be a story mode attempt for the Ps2 'port?

While this isn't necessarily a complaint (I'm rather indifferent), the size of the character roster is going to look ridiculously small compared to Budokai 3 and Tenkaichi. And if there's only bare-bones type modes available, this game will seem a lot smaller and less epic than the other games we've been getting. So I wonder if it would be released as a more budget-price title, and not the full $60 (Canadian).

I hope that the story mode will be like the one in Retsuden for the Sega Genesis. Fight one character once, then see a SF2-like ending.

I'm kind of looking forward to it, actually. I'd rather have 10 characters who all control differently and have different styles than 100 characters who all control exactly the same.Leotaku wrote:While this isn't necessarily a complaint (I'm rather indifferent), the size of the character roster is going to look ridiculously small compared to Budokai 3 and Tenkaichi. Ya, I'm betting that this will probably have your more typical Arcade Mode (in the port) where you pick a character, fight through, and then see an ending made just for them or something. I can't really see this kind of game having the kind of story mode of the other PS2 games.

<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

Well, Super Butoden had a saga-story mode... and it had about 9-11 characters if you don't count the SSJ as separate... Chou DDBZ could have a tiny Vegeta and Freeza saga, a big Cyborg saga (thanks to #16 and #17), and perhaps even a 23rd Budokai saga (thanks to Kuririn and Chi-Chi)...
