I was actually really surprised to hear you bring up the idea of putting DB into 'retirement' for a few years, VegettoEX, as that's something I've kind of been thinking for a little while now. I love getting a new special of some sort every few years now (kind of like with Lupin stuff, like you also mention), but maybe Toei needs to pull a Toho with the Godzilla franchise and just put it all on ice for a while. Let it rest for a good 5, 7, or maybe even 10 years, and let new people come in, new ideas brew, and all that.

The thing is, they did do that, and... it worked! It took a break from 1997 to 2002ish, and then it was craaaaaaaaazy nuts and hit its peak in 2007. Everything was downhill from there, and yet the first new animation didn't actually come until 2008 . Go figure!
Another five years off would probably help a ton. The merch sales look like they're starting to plateau, though; I'm not sure if they want to risk letting it totally cool off or still maintain a profile at all, albeit a low one, and at least make that little bit o' cash.

^ I agree, especially with how the quality of the games are. I mean, looking at the past few years, the games look like there just chewing on dried up meat, with the copy and paste game play and engine. Hopefully Shueisha or who ever is in charge is savvy enough to let the franchise rest for a while.

If you ever plan on revisiting the What if topic, this one is pretty good. Expands a lot on Raditz's character.

My concern for that idea is that Masako Nozawa will have retired when Dragon Ball comes back.

I'm sure they could find a good replacement.

WHAT IF Goku and vegeta fought soon after vegeta first turned super Saiyan?? I have friends who swear up and down vegeta couldn't beat goku at any part in the series, but i strongly feel vegeta would of had the advantage being that his transformation came from his pure blooded, hateful, and pride driven heart. Any agree?

The What-If in Budokai Tenkaichi 2 involving Raditz was pretty good. There was another one with Zarbon if I recall right.
Definitely looking forward to more random SSJ/SSJ3 creations in the future. SSJ3 Vegeta looks badass!

To tell the truth, I heavily disliked that random SSJ3 creations. SSj3 was the worst transformation, tied with SSj4. I heavily disliked that big gold hair and mucle-eyebrows.
I think they should make REAL different scenarious of "what would happen if..." instead of just power-up people randomly like they did.

I only just listened to this episode, so please forgive this late comment, but I wanted to mention that Vegeta purposely arrived on Earth on a day that there would be a full moon, just in case. That's why he gets so irate when he realizes the moon is gone. Does that count as strategy...? Well, it shows the forward thinking that Vegeta is capable of outside of the battle itself, at least. He always seems to do pretty good at preparing for a fight, but it all sort of falls apart for him once the combat is under way, usually thanks to his own ego.

You know, I always found that strange.Bussani wrote:I only just listened to this episode, so please forgive this late comment, but I wanted to mention that Vegeta purposely arrived on Earth on a day that there would be a full moon, just in case. 1) How would we know what day there'd be a full moon on a planet that he's never been to?
2) He and Nappa hopped straight in their spacepods right after they'd received the message of Raditz's death and the Dragon Balls.

Saiyan babies are sent to relatively weak planets with moons to help them, right? So Freeza's empire must have had some data on Earth. The best explanation I can think up is that Vegeta checked this in his pod's navi-comp (or whatever) before they set off and plotted a course/speed that would make sure they'd arrive on the correct day.

Ah, OK. That makes sense. Might even explain why they arrived earlier than the super-warriors expected.Bussani wrote:Saiyan babies are sent to relatively weak planets with moons to help them, right?
