Just how much has Japan lowered the violence in kids series?

Discussion specifically regarding the "refreshed" TV version of DBZ created in Japan for its 20th anniversary, including individual threads for each episode.

Just how much has Japan lowered the violence in kids series?

Post by dbboxkaifan » Sat Sep 08, 2012 12:49 am

There was a significant amount of blood that was obviously taken from Kai which can be seen back in Z, if anyone wants, but is it possible for someone to more or less say how much has Japan lowered their tone of violence for children animated programs?

In Kai they kept mostly all, except during the Raditz & Goku death scene, Vejita's death scene and the shortened Kuririn's impaled on Friеza's scene (also less blood, I think).

I didn't want to bring this up, but, in Shin-chan on the newer episodes he's no longer knocked in the head (sometimes Misae would triple knock him and Hiroshi too for talking about young girls or Misae has no boobs -- It's a fact). Shin-chan is a comical show for kids/family/everyone but those moments were just part of the series, and without them, it feels like something's missing now.

Did the removal of violence had major impact on other series?

I think the censorship of Kai had to do with the early morning timeslot on TV.
