You're just talking about the English FUNi dub?

The other dubs gave it a different feeling and not too much romance or however you want to put it.

I'm glad the story wasn't only about the bloody saiyans because they've already covered the damn thing on Z.

The three spanish versions (Mexico, Chile, Spain) are kinda romantic in their base.

Mexico:
Tu sonrisa tan resplandeciente
A mi corazón deja encantado
Ven toma mi mano para huir de esta terrible oscuridad.

En el instante en que te volvi a encontrar.
Mi mente trajo a mi aquel hermoso lugar,
Que cuando era niño fue tan valioso para mi
Quiero saber si acaso tu conmigo quieres bailar
Si me das tu mano te llevare,
Por un camino cubierto de luz y oscuridad.

Tal vez sigues pensando en el,
No puedo yo saberlo,

No me importa si aun no te intereso,
Ven toma mi mano,
Para huir de esta infinita oscuridad.
Quick lazy google translation:

Your smile so bright
Leaves my heart enchanted
Come take my hand to escape from this terrible darkness.

The moment I met you again.
My mind brought me back to this beautiful place,
That as a child was so precious to me.

I want to know if by chance you wanna dance with me
If you give me your hand I'll take you,
through a road covered with light and darkness.

Maybe you keep thinking about him,
I can not know,
But I know and understand that you need love,
And the courage to fight you will find it in yourself.

My enchanted heart shines
For the dust of hope and magic,
The universe that all aspire to possess.

I'll love you for life,
I do not care if you are not interested,
Come take my hand,
To escape from this endless darkness.

It was so sweet that made my teeth hurt.

That tends to happen when you faithfully adapt the song.

No, Dan Dan is a love song in Japanese as well.

I've never been too keen on dubs being too faithful to the original Japanese openings because the lyrics often don't translate well and can sometimes sound really awkward when sung in beat with the original song.

I think the Blue Water dub had the right idea by keeping the same song for GT but making up their own English lyrics for it.

Dan Dan is shitty pop romance. The German intro is much better.

Fly there where we find the stars
Don't delay, there's no time to waste
We are by your side
On the search for the Dragonballs

You have to start over
Defeat the darkness as a kid
You need all your might
The future of the world is in your hands

As you search in far-removed galaxies
For a way for change Fate
You'll see on this journey
Unbelievable things

You have friends
Who come and go
Only time will tell
Who stays standing beside you

When it all comes (as in, when it all falls apart, I believe)
That's the moment
To look danger in the eye

Fly there where we find the stars
Don't delay, there's no time to waste
We are by your side
On the search for the Dragonballs

Believe it,
You'll do it again
Now be strong, detect your (true) might
It'll give you new courage
On the search for the Dragonballs

Or they could've released US GT with "Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears, because it is literally the same thing.

It's too bad there's a much better German version...

In German even love songs sounds like commands.

I wasn't offended I was disgusted. There's no more pitiful creature on this world than naked prepubescent boy. Well, in real life they are, on the screen they are just laughable.
And someone here wrote that Kid Goku was supposed to be cute?

The lyrics in Dan Dan are shitty because it's J-pop romantic shlock, but I like the actual melody. It's catchy and it's got a nice, sentimental feel to it. :)

My thoughts, exactly.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

GT was aimed at an audience with the attention span of a rodent.

When I was young and knew next to nothing about GT, I thought the theme song was somehow about Goku and Bulma's relationship. Or maybe Goku and Shenron's... I know that makes no sense... but the fact the song had nothing to do with the story really disturbed me.

LOL

One time, my little sister (10 at the time) stared at the screen, then back at me and asked "Is the song about Goku and Pan? ...It...it can't be that. RIGHT?" Her poor mind trying to make sense of the whole thing.

Is this the scene from the Intro? I only watched GT once and swore I would never do it again... so I don't exactly remember if they actually used that scene in the anime. If that had happened as Adult-Goku it would have been comedy gold...

Pan... ugh... I simply couldn't stand her. They botched her characters in ways I couldn't believe.
Nope. That's what he said from his line "if it means swimming with your clothes on." in episode 8 of the Black Star Dragon Balls arc.
