Herms already did the timeline. All we need is someone to fill in a couple of names that got muddied as they bounced from language to language...DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Yes, but we need a Korean-to-English translator for the guidebook info (timeline & background story).

Yeah, we need the real names. Is there any Korean or/and Chinese on this forum?

Well Hong Kong speaks Cantonese, Taiwan speaks Mandarin. There's no "Chinese" language, just a collection of dialects, Mandarin being the most prominent, Cantonese falling on third.
So we need someone who can read either Korean, Cantonese or Mandarin. I might find someone for Cantonese, not sure if I will and even if I do I doubt they'll be interested in playing the game, but maybe I could ask for translations if I get the texts.

I'm pretty sure both versions are in Mandarin. I have made a few friends in the game and asked about it but a lot don't pay attention because they weren't Dragon Ball fans to begin with.DNA wrote:Well Hong Kong speaks Cantonese, Taiwan speaks Mandarin. That I don't understand. Why play a game of a franchise you don't like, especially when it comes to something that's rather tedious like a MMORPG. I'm sure there are much better ones out there. lolMakaioshin wrote:I have made a few friends in the game and asked about it but a lot don't pay attention because they weren't Dragon Ball fans to begin with.

I suppose it is a good thing that this MMO can attract players who aren't interested in the source material. It confuses me more that a portion of the English player base aren't fans.TheDevilsCorpse wrote: That I don't understand. Speaking of which... I was wondering if anyone knew how the demographics of the hong kong/taiwan servers are coming. When I was playing I was surprised by the sheer amount of English and Spanish speakers. They even released the Paypal option for international players in English so... the number should be big enough for them to have done that...Makaioshin wrote:I suppose it is a good thing that this MMO can attract players who aren't interested in the source material. Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"

Yeah, and where it hasn't been released yet. Japan has had a site detailing all the changes Korean developer, NTL, has made since the begining even though the game hasn't even been announced for beta there yet. Wikipedia has the links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_ball_online

Doesn't look very Toriyama-ish but that might just be because of the lighting...

Re: Dragon Ball Online Discussion
I knew that Cell texture I posted earlier didn't belong to the original Cell... but seriously, WTF. Do they think they have to take every character and make them look ridiculous just to get a new enemy? I mean, I like seeing their enemy designs, but a LOT of them just feel like they are cheapening the original characters, badly. :/ I'd have preferred different colored Cells or Cell Juniors with different head crests (similar to the pupa looking stage they already did) instead of it looking like they cut him in half and super-glued his ass to a crab looking insect butt... lol
Same with the Saibaimen. Some of them are cool to look at, but did we really need Saibai-men, fat men, spiders, crabs, trees, pterosaurs, bugs, turtles/tanks, snakes, cacti, flying bugs, fly traps, etc. And then the various varieties of those; normal, fish gills, rock armor ect. Really? lol

Re: Dragon Ball Online Discussion
The hell? WHAT DID THEY DO TO CELL!?
Re: Dragon Ball Online Discussion
That thing has too many legs for my taste.
Re: Dragon Ball Online Discussion
In Dragon Ball had a huge amount of beings, animals, dinosaurs, robots, and so on. It´s normal for the game recreate it. And the same thing happens to the Saibaimen...They have created a variety of them, simply. The Saibaimen are like plants that evolve according to the environment, so it seems.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Same with the Saibaimen. And with Cell ... Remember that Cell not only had cells from Goku and the others, but also had insect cells.

I understand the mechanics fodder enemies for a MMO. My problem is that they can accomplish the same thing without being stooping to THAT ridiculous of a level, just like dozens of DB games have before.HECTOR4 wrote:In Dragon Ball had a huge amount of beings, animals, dinosaurs, robots, and so on. Yes, he did. But he was created to be a perfect warrior....this thing looks like it would be terrible at fighting. Do we even have confirmation that this is THE Cell we know, anyway?

I don´t seem ridiculous. Simply have a naif style, as the story was just beginning.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I understand the mechanics fodder enemies for a MMO. No, this is NOT Cell. Surely is another Bio-Android created with insect cells.Yes, he did. But he was created to be a perfect warrior....this thing looks like it would be terrible at fighting. Do we even have confirmation that this is THE Cell we know, anyway?

Re: Dragon Ball Online Discussion
It is to me. They could accomplish the same variety with 3-4 of the more traditional Saibaimen species and just using different color schemes in addition to the different normal/fins/rock traits. We really didn't need a giant one with a palm tree sticking out of its head...HECTOR4 wrote:I don´t seem ridiculous. Simply have a naif style, as the story was just beginning.
I hope so... if they went to another timeline and kidnapped Cell, only to turn him into this, I feel sorry for the poor guy. Should have just let Gohan finish him off, because they ruined his "perfect body". xDNo, this is NOT Cell. Surely is another Bio-Android created with insect cells.
