Any JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Fans Here? Well ...

Post by NeoKING » Mon Sep 17, 2012 8:07 pm

JJBA is one of, if not, the greatest and most cult classic manga series of all time and it's celebrating it's 25th Anniversary not only with a brand spankin' new fighting game and anime series, but also tribute fan art from other Jump artists. Eichiro Oda, Yoshihiro Togashi, Kazuki Takahashi, and Akira Toriyama being some of them. http://blog.livedoor.jp/ioryhamon/archives/5925157.html

Boy oh boy, has Toriyama's style changed.

Aw, yesss, I was looking for this!
It's pretty interesting how much his style has changed. I really like it.

It's changed, but it's still very distinctly his style.... if that makes sense.

I honestly feel he kind of half-assed it. Even going back to something as recent as Kintoki or pieces of DBO, the art there was a lot better.

It's still better than Togashi's, regardless.

I hope I'm not the only one who was hoping for more variety. I know Part 3 is the most popular, but, jeez...

I agree. I demand more Joseph Joestar (and Part 2 in general; Toriyama could have drawn Stroheim with Gero: Cyborg Nazi with Cyborg Mad Scientist). Wouldn't complain if we got to see some Josuke either (original Josuke, not Part 8 >_>), or Jonathan. I've liked all the parts so far (finished volume 1 of Part 8 *Jojolion* yesterday), but some retro love is always good.

And I'm sad they didn't get Masami Kurumada to do one (I know he kinda took Saint Seiya out of their sandbox and went elsewhere, but still).

That said, it was a nice number of artists paying tribute to the man.

And Toriyama went for what reminded me of those caricature drawings you can get, with the big heads and small bodies. Dunno why, but it did.

...Has Toriyama done any new manga lately? Feels like it's been a while since we've gotten to see him do more, which is sad, as several of my favorite 80s mangas got modern continuations. Jojo never ended, we got Fist of the Blue Sky for Kenshiro, Next Dimension for Saint Seiya, but no Dragon Ball from Toriyama (though Toei is doing its best to keep it alive via anime).

I've always thought that Toriyama's characters had big heads and small bodies. It's more noticeable with some characters than others, though.

Mostly just one shots or shorts. I think Kintoki was the last one, and that was back in 2010.
