Oh god... international release! <3 I just... I just hope they can gather the original cast if they release it in Mexico... they NEED the original cast or the fans are going to boycott the whole thing. I kid you not... Kai was a failure of epic proportions because they didn't get them. They did dub DB Evolution so maybe it wont be that hard to make it happen.
EDIT: xD I posted the news on Google+ and a friend of mine posted this:
Pfftt, of course.
Kickstarter it world wide, and fans will raise more money than that. loololololololol.

Yeah pretty much

I think I may have forgotten but Funimation will be dubbing this correct?

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I hope we get the original cast back, not the cast from Kai. I don't hate the new cast, I just would like to hear the old cast for the Japanese and English. I'm excited to listen to both

but I think me and everyone else can agree, it feels good to be a dragonball fan

The whole extra page made me think there was an actual plot-update about the movie's storyline. T_T Why do I get my hopes up?
If there is a Japanese-language audio, subtitles-in-English showing of this movie at my local theater, I actually might try to make the effort to see it there. Unfortunately, if it's the Funi dub though (or even in the weird off-chance of a completely different English cast due to FOX involvement), forget it; I won't make the trip for that. I'll be patient and wait for the dvd release so I can watch it in Japanese with subs.
It's not that I dislike the Funi cast, I just don't like Funi!Goku anymore; I don't think I could watch it with that voice.
For English, I actually like TFS!Goku a lot better; his voice seems much more natural to the character.

Guys, I don't much about that industry and what's supposed to be a regular quantity of money, so I probably don't understand what's going on and I might need someone to clarify it for me...
If I understand that news correctly, the Japanese government has given Toei 50 million yen, meaning 636,000$...
Isn't that HUGE?! I mean, I was drinking when I read the news and I almost spat it all out when seeing the big numbers!!
So that would mean Toei started developping the movie with their budget, and suddenly the government said "oh, why don't you add these 50 million yen to your current movie-size budget"?!
I mean, I probably understand it all wrong because that seems... well, as I said, HUGE!!
Is there something I get wrong? Is that money really for the production budget (with quality animation, special effects), or only meant to spread the movie throughout the world with an international release (because comments seem to be focused around that worldwide release)? Anyway, I probably need someone to clarify and give a "dumb version of the news for dumb guys".

Eh, it depends. Your average ~20 minute (sans commercials, opening, and ending) episode budget in Japan is $100,000-300,000 USD (I'd
assume most episodes of
Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Fullmetal Alchemist ran upwards of $200-300k).
Afro Samurai supposedly cost a million USD per every twenty minute episode. Even six hundred thousand isn't going to be enough if we're looking at a ~80-90 minute movie. That aside, I think this money might go towards marketing or reserving theaters, rather than the actual production budget.

I just need an infusion of plot-info to get me excited again about the movie. Like how DBO's plot-info about saiyajin lifespans and Goku and Vegeta secretly running away together to battle-to-the-death was and is still exciting to me. I still think Trunks creating a Time Patrol group and battling Towa and Miira who've got Goku's DNA as their goal is exciting to me.
I want some juicy plot-info that'll make it difficult for me to tear myself away from the computer screen. XD

I saw the news on the front page when I woke up. Sounds like great news and it seems like a possible chance that this movie might get a bigger release in the US. I'm not getting too excited yet since we still don't know anything about the film.

I'm the same. I never thought I would like another Goku voice besides Castañeda's in Latin Spanish, but after watching DBZA I just LOVED their Goku. I also grew fond of their Vegeta's voice... xD

I'm sure the fact that Z was still in the public conscience had nothing to do with it.
If the original cast for just about any place in the world isn't brought back I'm sure that won't be the down fall of this movie.
If you're not here soon... GET ON!

It would make sense to use the Funi cast since it would be easier and cheaper. I guess Fox and Funi could help released this movie in the US in select theaters hopefully next year.

I honestly can not see anybody else dubbing this other than Funimation. and even if another group dubbed it, I'd just watch the Japanese with subs so it's a win win for me.

Well, Fox owns the rights, so maybe they would do it in house?

Yeah since I honestly can't see them using big name stars for this movie. Not to mention that this movie is pretty much made for fans of the series. I would imagine that no one who never saw any DB show would be confused on what's going on.

Doesn't FUNimation's contract with Toei grant them the sole ownership and distribution of any US and Canadian licensed DragonBall Animation? If that's the case, wouldn't Toei have to wait until FUNimation's contract ran out and make a new one with a stipulation regarding this new Movie for Fox to release it?

Gosh, I hope so. All of the news has been awesome so far, but there are two things I'm worried about regarding this movie.
1.) Yet another member of the Japanese cast passing away. *knocks on wood*
2.) FUNimation not getting it due to FOX's involvement with international distribution, which could mean no FUNi cast and no Steve Simmons subs (or the possibility of, dare I say it, a dub-only release...).
But I know those have been common fears in this thread, so I won't go into it anymore than that. I do hope you're right, though.

It's so troublesome, even with DBE years over and long in the past, it still may haunt us through the threat of an English-dub-only, not-even-Funi's-cast release for this completely unrelated movie.
I hope that doesn't happen; that'd be awful.

I just listened to a clip of the Latin Spanish dub on YouTube; I agree, he sounds great! X3
