What are your likes and dislikes about DBZ B3?
Hi peeps, well those of u who have played Budokai 3 what do u like and dislike about it? Well my main likes are:
*graphics
*IGT (ingame tranformations)
*cutscenes for ultimate attacks
*beam struggles
*variety of capsules
*opening theme
*teleporting etc
Most things are fine, but some things I kinda dislike are:
*Ending cutscenes of a lot of the ultimates becoz it ends wif a view of from space and seeing a gigantic explosion. I mean I like it a lot and it looks really cool but too MANY ultimates end like that, which makes it kinda "typical" and also sorta makes it unoriginal. I dont mind some character ultimates ending from space, just not nearly all of them. Coz I think theres many ways for an ultimate to look cool wifout having it end in space.
*Adult Gohan's SSJ and SSJ2 hair looks da same. Its not really noticable and dun really matter but I think they should of atleast differentiate between the two, I mean they did for Goku.
*Atleast two ultimates for most of the characters instead of having to go into hypermode. Eg L1 = 1st Ultimate and L2 = 2nd Ultimate
*Probly more costumes, coz I would of liked to see Teen Gohan in the orange outfit he wore in Movie 9 (basically what Goku and Mystic Gohan wears) and the Piccolo outfit wif da white cape attached. As for Adult Gohan I would've liked to see da Great Saiyanman outfit minus cape and head gear (from Budokai 2) and da black bodysuit he wears under da saiyaman costume (basically da black suit, gloves and boots minus da green turnic and belt). Etc etc for the other characters
Other then that overall the games kicks ***! (Oh and I reckon Bardock's ultimate looks abit like Sasuke's and Kakashi's chidori (for these of you who watch Naruto ) becoz u see his hand charged wif energy! looks cool!)
So what are your likes and dislikes about B3?

Watch the grammar, man!
Likes:
-In game transformations
-Customizable capsules
-Short death-moves
-Dragon Universe
-Cinematic Ultimate Attacks, namingly Gohan's Father-and-Son Kamehameha
Dislikes:
-There just aren't enough slots for capsules. For example: I wanted to use Freeza's Spaceship along with at least Death Beam and all of his transformations, but with the slots alotted, it's just impossible.
-I liked the Dragon Rush, but I don't like the idea that something like Final Flash, Special Beam Cannon, or Warp Kamehameha could only be executed by finishing the Dragon Rush.

Really? I only think Songoku looks better in Sparking. Trunks is so ugly. And the "aura" effect you get in Budokai3 when powering up makes the graphics way better then Sparking!Tanooki Kuribo wrote:When you compare Budokai 3's graphics to Sparkings graphics, you will see just how bad Budokai 3's graphics are

Sorry Tanooki, have to disagree there. B3's graphics are superior to BT's by a lot. The B3 images there are a bit washed out. But if you play BT for a bit, then switch over to B3 you'll really notice the improvement. I should know, I've done it several times. Not only are the arena's far better looking in B3 the models are better designed (seriously, what the hell is up with Goten's head in BT?), the lighting effects are better, and the actual animation is superior.
BT just looks and feels like an old, choppy, PC demo of an unfinsihed action/adventure title (like a demo of a PC verison of Sagas 2 that only features the boss battles). There isn't anything about Budokai 3 I don't like. In my opinnion it is, by far, the best DBZ game.

My dislikes? That'd have to be Dragon Rush, most definitely. Leaving the success of my attack or defense to sheer luck is just unacceptable to me. I dislike equally all the Yamcha-bashing. Though I guess I should count myself lucky he ended up in Dragon World at all.
I also didn't care for how so many attacks from the previous games were removed because, apparently, someone complained that they weren't "canon". On top of that, the teleports made other attacks obsolete. And I honestly wish you could level up your baseline ki.
I did like how the combo system was expanded, with the right moves and know-how of course. I went from a 9-hit base combo in B2 to a 17-hit base in B3 with Yamcha, not counting any Death Moves. The What-if battles were great too- naturally, Yamcha vs. Vegeta for me. If I recall correctly, I gave a booming "Hell yeah" when I stumbled onto it.

Pros:
+ Plethora of characters to choose from
+ Smooth movement/animation
+ KICKASS music. OMG, love the sound-track
+ Dragon Universe and What-If fights are fun
Cons:
- Unintuitive gameplay (Though, I always had trouble with the PS2 controller. I hate those damn circle, square, triangle symbols!). Then again, I'm not a gamer, so I probably likely just suck ass.
- Dragon Rush, while cool when executed properly, kills WAY too much time and interrupts the flow of the fight

Yes. I know. But those pictures are washed out and not up to par with the actual graphics of the game. I just can't understand how anyone could see the BT graphics as superior. And, even aside from the graphics, the animation is horrible. At the most, BT's graphics are just Sagas, with Cel Shading.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:You do know those are the B3 pictures on the left, right?

Actually, I would like to add one point of comparison here.
You guys should admit that Sparking!'s graphics are superior to Budokai 3's. But, screenshots would fool a lot of people. I feel that Sparking!'s character models are WAY too stiff in animation when compared to Budokai 3. Plus there are more facial expressions in Budokai 3. With the lack of facial expressions and the stiffness quality that Sparking! posseses, the effort of making better looking DBZ characters was wasted.
EDIT: Plus, Sparking!'s aura effects are very incredibly unimpressive compared to Budokai 3

I really can't think of anything I don't like about Budokai 3. It fixed everything that was wrong with the first two games, and then added in more good stuff just to be sure. The awesome music, the fluid animations and great cel-shading, Dragon Universe... hell, I even like Dragon Rush. I can understand why a lot of people hate that feature, but I feel it adds something of a "wild card" element into the fights. It's certainly helped the less-than-skilled players (some of my friends) pick up their fair share of victories, and I don't mind.
Now... Sparking's graphics.. I thought they would be great when I saw the early screenshots, but they really can't hold a candle to B3's character models. Most of them just seem out-of-proportion in most places, or just wrong in some cases. B3's models have always had that perfect feel for me. And the infinitely superior animations go without saying.
Hm.. actually, I only have one dislike towards B3, the fact that you still can't pick alternate costumes for tournament mode. I know it's a minor detail, but I prefer a lot of fighters' alternate costumes, and my friends and I primarily do tournaments. Oh well.. maybe in B4.

I'm basing this post on the correct Greatest Hits version, as I now have it, I consider it the true version of Budokai 3.
PROS:
The graphics, repayable option modes, story mode of Dragon Universe, and roster of characters with their own uniqueness surpasses any other DBZ game to date.
Getting to play this type of game with the Japanese VAs, it's unreal how awesome it is and there's absolutely no audio glitches in comparison with Budokai Tenkaichi's.
The fighters aren't anywhere near as repetitive as the first 2 Budokais and Budokai Tenkaichi, they're all good in their own special ways.
The What-If aspects and extra treats in DU are so much fun, as is the RPG aspect of leveling-up while getting the chance to go wherever you want on Earth.
16 awesomely designed arenas you can battle in, some having some destructible elements such as the Urban area and Mount Paouze.
The ultimate move cut-scenes are all truly amazing.
Practically unlimited varieties of alternate costumes I can choose, and fighters that would have been separate people in Budokai Tenkaichi (Saiyan saga Vegeta, Saiyan-armor Trunks) don't need to be counted as entirely separate characters.
In-game transformations and in-game fusions, it's much more real to me to feel like I'm in the anime to transform or fuse during battle.
Only DBZ game for the Ps2 to give us Piccolo Daimao, Uub, and Yi Xing Long under one roof.
CONS:
There aren't enough playable characters to play out in DU, while the 11 already available more than wet my whistle, I would have still loved playing out Kid Goku, Future Trunks, and quite a few others in their own points of view.
It's hard as hell to get certain fighters to break in Dragon Arena, one main reason it took me 6 months to get a 100% capsules in the game.

Dragon arena is really random. I got Saibaiman for the first battle (Nappa break in).
I love this game and I still play it. I plan to buy Greatest Hits or Collection Edition but I am still looking.
So... I couldn't love anything else because there is nothing else to love.
But I **HATE** one thing:
You can't change the danm costumes for your enemy on Dragon Arena.
I was planning on fighting some epic battles but I just couldn't.
Does anybody know if the Greatest Hits or Collection Edition has the same problem?

I'm still trying to get 100% in B3. So in other words i'd have to say I hate how capsules are unlocked. I've unlocked every character, beaten every story (several times), beaten every tournament and difficulty, but I still can't get everones breakthrough. Besides that it's my favorite DBZ game to date. And regardless of graphics, it's B3's gameplay that keeps me coming back. And the fact that i've already beaten BT 100%.
I'm on a PSP. And I'm trying to follow the rules!

You guys could always try that one cheat code from Budokai 2 to get 100%, I don't know for sure if it works in Budokai 3 (considering I worked the long, hard, 6 month way), but it's worth a shot if you're tired of waiting for a particular break-in in Dragon Arena. Good luck.
