Dragon Ball Parallels with Other Series.

Ok, so I was writing an essay that involved the Dragon Ball, Star Wars, and Metal Gear series, and small, and at times, subtle parallels constantly kept popping up between the three.

Then the Dragon Ball/Star Wars one below hit me, and it was fairly more thorough than the others, them I remembered reading the comparison SSJ Conan made between the battles between SSJ Goku and Freeza and Obi Wan and Anakin a few weeks back and thinking how awesome it was and thinking how this could be a decent topic.

So here’s my parallel:

Star Wars spoliers ahead.

Emperors Freeza/Palpatine wipe out most Saiyans/Jedi (directly or indirectly), both miss a few out, intentionally or otherwise, babies that are hidden (again, intentionally or otherwise) and overlooked leads to Freezer’s/Palpatine’s downfall, but before that, one of the few remaining Saiyans/Jedi; Raditz/Obi Wan Kenobi inform the now grown up Saiyan/potential Jedi of their heritage, which leads them to different worlds for training and battle, although for one reason or another not everything is revealed to them until later. They never knew anything of their heritage this until that point because of a head injury and/or friends/adopted parents’ thinking knowing this would be bad for him.

Of course, such parallels means not everything fits perfectly, and compromises are made and things are stretched for the parallels to work but I think everybody should get the gist of it.

Obviously Palpatine didn’t kill all the Jedi himself (the only Jedi we see him kill is Mace Windu), Darth Vader, Storm Troopers etc. would’ve done most of it I assume, while Freeza killed the Saiyans with a slight flex of his finger (That’s why you know Freeza’s gangsta!), Freeza intentionally didn’t kill Vegeta, Raditz and Nappa, and Goku wasn’t really hidden as such from Freeza, rather he was sent to Earth to conquer it. Also I’m kinda neglecting Leia and I make it sound like Goku was on the same side as Raditz and the other Saiyans to begin with (keep in mind Goku did say he was going to kill Freeza for ‘all the Saiyans’ he killed, so in a way, he was fighting for them, if not for Raditz and Nappa).

As for the very last bit, obviously Goku severely bumped his head and he forgot everything of his heritage and Luke’s adoptive parents prevent Obi Wan from giving him Anakin’s lightsaber and telling him about his father for the longest time. The friends’ part comes from Bulma, Master Roshi, Krillin, etc. not telling Goku about his great ape transformation, therefore not even giving Goku the slightest insight into his heritage.

So how about you're parallels?

Just to be clear, this isn’t just Dragon Ball/Star Wars, but it can be from any series; games, movies, books, other manga/anime etc. just as long you can somehow relate it to Dragon Ball, and this topic isn't to say 'OMG so and so stole this idea from Toriyama' or 'Toriyama ripped this from (insert series creator)', it's just a bit of fun.

Anyhow, like Jodaku already said, I made my statment on this type of thing already.

Totally off topic, you guys that haven't seen it already gotta read the Episode III - V Star Wars parody myself, Chaos Saiyajin, Eclipse, and Last Son of Krypton made out. It's insane!

Once agian, off- topic but I saw you mentioning someone artistic to animate one. If somebody can show me a place where I can make flash films(for free, I'm a cheap-o) Then I will try to tackle it.(Just PM me if you can find a place.

Yeah, well, your name's been fixed, no need to blow your cookie dough over it. ^^;;

Also, yeah, "Starballz" is the name of that extremely parodied DBZ/Sailor Moon/Star Wars/ect. hentai. I still find it funny how George Lucas tried to sue over that, I don't think it ever got him anything though.

Well, I woke up after about 2 hours of sleep with ... a vision! (And a cold sweat, but that's another story <__<; )

How about this! We have the environment be on a desert wasteland planet at night, bright stars in the sky, and a giant moon that's really a raisin cookie. Standing on the surface, in a third person perspective, we have a behind-the-back view of a battle damaged Darth Vader, holding a brown lightsaber, but his face isn't shown. He's going up against a teenage looking bald kid dressed up like a padawan but also with Saiyan-armor shoulder braces with the suit. He's holding a lightsaber pointing at the Vader figure, the color being plain white. (The concept is too have cookie powered and milk powered lightsabers face each other.) In the black starry sky, near the cookie-moon, let's have a black haired Princess Leia with that famous Episode IV hairdo that Pan sports in GT episode 13 as well, be hazed in with the sky. A little homage to Jerseymilk for no reason. I hope that's descriptive enough for Leo.

Sounds good, can't wait. I'm glad you'll be PMing to me, though I wonder why it couldn't get a spot on your account on fanfiction.net (I wouldn't mind). That way it wouldn't be limited to just a few people, ya' know. The Cookie Wars can be known world wide.

Yeah, we could say the same of Mushrambo (Shinzo). I honestly think that Naruto and DBZ parallel a lot. I mean, Goku's got the Oozaru hidden within him; and Naruto's got the demon...Jiraiya and Kame'Sennin are bothe perverted sensei...

Oh Kishimoto-san has admitted that he's a great fan of Dragonball and loved reading/watching it when he was a kid. Also in the manga when Naruto visited a fair there was a mask stall. And one mask one sale was a Chaozu mask. So there's bound to be some similarities since it was a major inspiration for him. But yeah, they both have the aloof idiot main character going. XD
