Give them time, they'll get it, I'm sure. I'm fully confident this isn't going to turn out like the other more recently animated things.

Well, I just listened to that Flow cover of Head Cha-La, and...well...I'm mixed on it. It's not near as good as I was hoping it'd be, based on their other work that I've heard and love...but it wasn't bad. I still think that maybe WE GOTTA POWER would have fit their style better, as well as the timeframe of the movie, but eh, this is 'THE' song for the franchise, so I can understand why it was chosen.

I liked it well enough though, it'll work - just wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped it would be.

The thing is, Cha-La Head Cha-La is so overused. They used it on 2008 special and Ultimate Tenkaichi. Now they are going to use it on Movie 14. I would prefer them to use We Gotta Power or create a new good song.

The problem is most anime is using the modern bands for every new opening they got. They never stuck with a song that is going to be iconic for thier franchises, like One Piece and Naruto respectively.

I agree, I would have preferred if they'd done 'WE GOTTA POWER' or something. I prefer that song between the two anyway honestly, and it's also less overused now. But, what can you do? Cha La is pretty much the 'IT' song of the franchise now, so...we're stuck.

I don't really mind them using newer bands though. I like a lot of the more 'current' bands playing nowadays. Heck, as much as I like Flow, I'd have been ecstatic if they'd gotten L'Arc~en~Ciel for the movie.

I agree it is overused, and I don't care much for this cover but I'm sure that the animation accompanying it will make or break it for me.

I wonder if they'll recap the story of DB/DBZ so far at the beginning or in the opening.

I doubt it since the movie is made for people who watch the show and read the manga. They would know what's going on and who everyone else is. These movies are never made for anyone outside the fanbase.

I said it as soon as I heard that CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA was going to be the theme for the movie. Where's the love for WE GOTTA POWER?!
I love DBZ 1st opening, don't get me wrong, but everytime they decide to use old songs for something new Dragon Ball related, they usually pick "CHA-LA". And while I really like FLOW's version of that legendary opening for DBZ, I agree that WE GOTTA POWER would have worked much better for the group's style...

Not to mention that We Gotta Power fits with this era better, so it's odd to see it be absent. I always thought of it as the theme song for the Boo arc specifically.

All people need to know is that there's some powerful dude from Earth named Goku who defeated the evil space lord Freezer. Even Bilus doesn't seem to care much more than that.

Well then, haha, I guess we might get it by 2017. haha. I would be happy if they at least had some kind of limited subtitled release in other countries via 20th Century Fox. But I am afraid that's not going to happen, unfortunately. I am wondering how will I even be able to see this film? With EOB and the Jump Special they were streamed online so it was fairly easy to watch it on your computer. But with this the best those of us outside of Japan may get is some guy filming a movie theater's screen. That means we won't be able to really enjoy the HD animation the way it was meant to be seen and the sound will be muffled and what not too. Oh I've depressed myself now haha.

Certain film festivals may pick it up. There was an Anime-specific film festival where I live for a weekend which featured movies that had come out the previous year.

If for some reason there isn't a simultaneous theater release (or if it's one of those deals where it airs in Japan, gets licensed, dubbed, and the various international dubs get limited theater runs before their dvds are released) it should definitely have a Japanese DVD release before the end of this year.

Big movies like Summer Wars, Redline, Wolf Children, the Ghibli movies, have had a pretty fast turn-around. Like around 1 year. That's what I assume we'll see with Battle of Gods. It would be amazing if they could get it out by the end of this year! As for Strong World, One Piece is just starting to really pick up traction in the US, but is still not as popular with a general audience like DBZ continues to be.

It would sure be nice for people that have never seen the original work. How long could it take? Like I said pages and pages ago, I'd really love for this movie to appeal to more than just Dragon Ball and general anime fans. Even Avengers confused some people with certain plot details lifted from previous Marvel films they may not have seen.

I agree, I'm not sure why so many people feel so discouraged about the film not coming out in other regions soon, or why their expectations hinge so much on when announcements are made. This is one of the biggest media properties in the world, and we have no idea what could be going on behind closed doors. It would be a huge missed oppurtunity if this film wasn't distributed everywhere ASAP.

I predict we'll see Battle of Gods even sooner than that. Dragon Ball is more popular than all of those, and I believe Ghibli films have had wide releases in America since Spirited Away (I'm not sure about other regions).
