Bra's Absence in late GT
This has always bothered me. In episode 47 of Dragon Ball Gt, Bra is seen at her house with the others, and in the next episode they are all there, but she disappears with no explanation. She is also not seen for the rest of the series. I believe that seh is even in the recap of episode 48. So was she forgoten or something? Why is she in episode 47, but not in 48 with everyone else?

The most likey reason is that she was underwritten and so useless a character that they figured it wasn't worth keeping up token apperences for her.
Really, I don't think she had more than five lines of dialouge throughout the whole series. There was the mustache line, and also... er... er... there was also... umm... that time a couple boys drove by her, and also... also... well, I'm sure there was something else, right? Right?

In GT she is episodes 2, 25, 27, 29, 30, 34, 42, 46 and 47. It equals to 9 episodes, she only talks in episodes 25, 27, 29, 42, 46 and 47, but even on those, she doesn't talk that much either.Domon wrote:The most likey reason is that she was underwritten and so useless a character that they figured it wasn't worth keeping up token apperences for her.

Yep. My post was a tongue-in-cheek commmentary on Bra's uselessness/underwrittenism.DB_Fan wrote:In GT she is episodes 2, 25, 27, 29, 30, 34, 42, 46 and 47. She did seem to consistently fade throughout the length of GT. Her most notable absense to me was during Goku and Vegeta's battle against Yi Xing Long . . . here you had an audience of just about everyone looking on (every Saiyan and his mother, literally), and yet Bra is nowhere to be seen.
Huh. Guess she stayed home that day.

I'm not so sure it had to do with sexistism on the writers ' part. I think it's just that we're dealing with a show aimed at young boys. At that age, no boy wants to see a girl hogging the screentime, nor would they be interested in the notion of gender equality. True, Pan was somewhat of an exception. But even then, her screentime and fighting prowess was limited compared to her costars.Pedro The Hutt wrote:Makes you wonder why they didn't make her at least as tough as Trunks is, she does after all have all that Vegetablood too.
Maybe the writers were sexist. XD
