Stuff like that makes me even more envious of the people in Japan who will get to see this movie first hand.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Huh. I wonder if the film was produced with this in mind? It seems like a bit of a stretch for a Toei production, espicially since their big bread winner One Piece hasn't received such an honor.kei17 wrote:BoG is going to be the first Japanese movie ever that is screened at IMAX theaters.

Basically this. Man oh man I just wish we could get any kind of release in theaters here, even a limited one. Select cities or something!ringworm128 wrote:Stuff like that makes me even more envious of the people in Japan who will get to see this movie first hand.

Apparently there's going to be a Spanish Dub of Battle of Gods?

Well, that seems a bit fishy in that it says dubbing started in "late May," which seems way early... May 2012? But if it were true, then that would certainly give a LOT of hope for an English dub to make it over here rather quickly.Gonstead wrote:Apparently there's going to be a Spanish Dub of Battle of Gods?

Pretty sure the movie wasn't announced till June.
Yeah, from the looks of things, I'd say it's not true. Not saying we won't see a Spanish dub at some point in the future though.

Well, the article is refering to May of this year, 2013. But still, it seems it's just a rumor, and a fake one at that. They say the "official DBZ facebook page for latinamerica" released the info that Mario Castañeda (Goku's voice actor) has agreed to join the cast and start dubbing the film around late May.That page though, looks quite amateurish. So until there's no confirmation from Mr. Castañeda himself, I think it's safer to think it's a fake rumor...
Yes, Goku visited me once. He turned to me while I was still speechless, and said, "You've drank too much"...

Because this "big bread winner" deserves no such honor. One Piece is so over-rated. Dragon Ball has always been Toei's bread winner ever since it began its serialization. So it should be Dragon Ball that deserves it, not One Piece.JulieYBM wrote:Huh. I wonder if the film was produced with this in mind? I'm preeeetty sure One Piece has surpassed Dragon Ball in sales, so it would deserve it more. From Toei's viewpoint, anyway. True, but I would bet you that if Toriyama had come back and draw Dragon Ball again, the popularity would beat One Piece. One Piece was heavily influenced by Dragon Ball. That's why the people like One Piece so much. Not just One Piece, but other mangas as well. So Dragon Ball should deserve this honor, not the other way around.Saiga wrote:I'm preeeetty sure One Piece has surpassed Dragon Ball in sales, so it would deserve it more. It's a little nuts to say that One Piece's popularity lies exclusively with the fact that Oda pulls some inspiration from Toriyama and Dragon Ball. Purely-derivative works of art rarely succeed above and beyond their inspiration to such a degree.

He's right. In fact it was brought to the attention on the podcast of other of the DBZ voice actors (Piccolo's). It's very fake, otherwise, Mario Castañeda would announce it on twitter. I'm following him with all the rest of the cast, and they always say that as soon as they get word, they will let us know. They have been bombarded with questions about the movie since the trailer got released.
Oh by the way... Remember that I was saying that it might be set during spring of AGE 777 instead of AGE 776 because the number "777" seems special for Japan? Well...
Between 28 February 2013 and 24 April 2013, if you buy one of the Dragon Bottle meals or one of the Dragon Ball toy Smile Sets, you will get a stamp. Collect seven stamps, and you can be entered in a chance to win one of 777 sets that include a “Dragon Radar”-shaped detector item and seven Dragon Ball keychains that react by sounding a buzzer when the detector is brought close.

Toei had big properties long before Dragon Ball, too. As little as I think of the quality of One Piece it's certainly done more than Dragon Ball as of late to hit the IMAXs.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Because this "big bread winner" deserves no such honor. So basically you're saying that because Echirio Oda was influenced by Dragon Ball while writing One Piece, it automatically makes Dragon Ball an overall better series? That's like saying Goku doesn't deserve to be the Earth's savior, and Muten Roshi does because he is Goku's martial artist sensei.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:True, but I would bet you that if Toriyama had come back and draw Dragon Ball again, the popularity would beat One Piece. That being said I like them both but objectively speaking, One Piece is a better executed series. It has a much better use of it's cast (unlike Dragon Ball, everyone has a meaningful place in the narrative), the entire series actually sticks to it's story-line, and it has overall more creativity.

Maybe it is the first to hit imax because althouvh it is not the current "bread winner" it is one of their all-time most internationally known iconic series. It's importance stretches beyond which series makes the most money right now.

I hope you don't mind me asking Chuquita, but where did you get those pictures?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128
