What DBZ game should a PS3 owner buy?

Post by Kid Buu » Wed Feb 13, 2013 4:52 am

I've been looking to get a DBZ game for my PlayStation 3 (got back into console gaming recently), and have been debating what game to get. I played Burst Limit when it first came out and beat it in one day, not too big on that game. Neither am I interested in the Budokai Collection.

So its either out of Raging Blast, Raging Blast 2, or Ultimate Tenkachi. I have the demo of RB1 and enjoyed it, but I hear that game is really glitchy when it comes to camera. So any recommendation on what to get?

Depends on the purpose for it.

Tenkaichi current-gen = Raging Blast 1 & 2

If the online mode is still alive of Burst Limit then that's Budokai Online in other words, which people were expecting from HD Budokai Collection.

Check this video for a guy who's played Ultimate Tenkaichi online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvKfvT_E314 Pretty interesting funny stuff to listen to.

I would say that if you don't have a PS3 with backwards compatibility, don't bother, unless whatever you're buying is cheap.

If you already know you don't want either Burst Limit or the Budokai HD Collection, yeah, your options are limited.

I could never recommend Ultimate Tenkaichi to anyone.

If you want a game with a story mode and more 2D-styled graphics, but with glitchy camera angles, go with the Raging Blast. If you can forgo a traditional story mode in favor of endless unlockables, don't mind plastic-y looking visuals, want more characters, cleaned up camera and controls, and want a little bonus video feature, go with Raging Blast 2.

You could also read more in-depth reviews of them all right here on the site :).

RB2 is your best option.

If you insist on fast gameplay in the vein of BT3 and can forgive the small diversity of combos then RB1. Otherwise RB2.
BT3 off meds | The final fight

Ah, the Alpha and the Omega. As all life was created from Chaos...so shall it be DESTROYED!!!

The wails of machines | Singing cold harmony | Shifting air upward | Entranced by the breeze | Light pours like blood | Into a cosmic sea | Of stars crystallized | In a frozen symphony

In terms of a DBZ game that has a lot of content and a long campaign mode, then it is definitely Raging Blast 2. After you're done with Galaxy Mode you may find that RB2 is pretty much over and not much worth completing it.

RB2's DBZ episode screenshots on there look really nice, wish I'd have them on PC to use as wallpapers.

I've yet to try out Ultimate Tenkaichi which I should receive this or next week.

Well, I already played and beat Burst Limit, and I actually own the PS2's Budokais with a PS2 in my garage.

Seems to me RB2 is the best option, but I'll read your reviews for sure!

I suggest saving your money.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

Dragon Ball games for 360/PS3 aren't really expensive, but saving's a great idea.

There's much better fighting games than Dragon Ball, such as Street Fighter IV.

RB2 or BHD are your best options IMO. They are my favorite DBZ games of all time currently.

Unless they're cheap, don't bother (I felt pretty jipped when I got RB and UB at full price).

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.
