Is DB Revenge of King Piccolo worth buying?

Post by dbboxkaifan » Fri Feb 22, 2013 7:04 am

I've never played it and by seeing some gameplay videos I got some mixed feels about it whether or not I should get it. I loved Dragon Ball Advance Adventures on GBA but this isn't exactly the same, and for some reason seems repetitive like the One Piece: Dynasty Warrior-like games (beat a bunch of enemies around you and do the same next stage).
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

It's really fun if you're fan of DB and first play trough. Also quite challenging. But then, beating the stages on stars to unlock characters for tenkaichi Budokai is quite pain in the ass and boresome process.
The Tenkaichi Budokai fighting system also isn't that great, if you compare the game to Budokai or Budokai Tenkaichi and also, the Pilaf arc and 21st tenkaichi Budokai are ommited from the story.

Buy Dragon Ball Origins and Dragon Ball Origins 2 instead, they are more fun.

Game is pretty fun, but also very hard, especially when you want to get good grades in every level, to unlock everything, boss fights are very long and tedious (Having to watch unskippable 15 seconds of animation showing King Piccolo power up for attack, its fun once, but when you have to watch it about 20 times, it isn`t  )

I didn't really enjoy it. A shame Media.Vision were wasted on this and not a Dragon Ball RPG or something.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

It is just boring and I like beat'm up games. It's too easy and there's hardly any tension during battles. The production values are pretty good though with lot'sof voice acting and decent animation and of course that great intro.

It's like Alan Wake in the since that you'll play and enjoy it until you beat it the first time, then you won't go back to it a second time.
