But for people who like to consider everything canon, via a multiverse like I do, stuff like this makes the series unnecessarily convoluted. I was OK with Broly, well at least the idea of LSSJ, I was OK with SSJ4. Then SSJ Bardock happened, which is completely ridiculous. Don't get me wrong I like Bardock and the idea of him going SSJ but not the way he did. Now we have SSJ God which has a really messy back story. SSJ God is neat and all but I can't help but feel it's out of place and unnecessary. SSJ4 at least just combined SSJ and the Oozaru into one, making the ultimate Saiyan form. It made sense, it looked cool, and it would be scene more in the media if GT didn't suck so hard. Maybe I'll appreciate SSJ God more when I see the film but I am finding it very hard to care for something that isn't cooler than SSJ4.worldmonsters wrote:To me all of it just revolves around the same thing. It's all one legend. Passed down and passed down, getting more screwed up, wrong translations, and then four separate stories emerge from the one. And no one knows which story is actually the real one :pTheMightyOzaru wrote:Yeah Saiyan history is getting really convoluted to the point of irritation. As individual stories, LSSJ, the first SSJ, SSJ4, and SSJ God are alright but the fact that multiple takes on SSJ exist is just annoying.

SSJ is the legend.
SSJG was never considered a legend, it was a prophecy.
Slight difference

Those are out of order, however, as according to Herm's Guides Guide, the rampaging legendary super saiyan happened before the Saiyans ever set foot on Planet Vegeta.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:So, there are 4 legendary Super Saiyans from the ancient past currently, from all the official sources:

He could go ahead and kill Goku and whoever else Uisu planned to train, unless Uisu kept a close guard on them, or something. I'm just saying I don't see anything out of what we have yet to suggest that Uisu would be willing to train them, much less to defend them from Bils during the training.Draken wrote:Not like Bils could do anything with Uisu being the better of the two.

According to the battle, if you think that Bils was truly out of power and couldn't destroy the Earth, then Goku and Bils are too evenly matched for Bils to just stroll up and kill Goku.Gyt Kaliba wrote:He could go ahead and kill Goku and whoever else Uisu planned to train, unless Uisu kept a close guard on them, or something. That's after the Super Saiyan God stuff though, which I'm still confused about if Goku now has permanent access to it's power or not. If he does, then you've got a great point actually, and I guess Bils couldn't just take him down so easily. But if it's not fully permanent, and they'd have to do that whole ceremony over again...wouldn't be too hard for Bils to potshot him otherwise.Draken wrote:According to the battle, if you think that Bils was truly out of power and couldn't destroy the Earth, then Goku and Bils are too evenly matched for Bils to just stroll up and kill Goku.

And a lot of people would argue that Goku and his adventures don't even exist at all, as he's just a character in a fictional series called Dragon Ball.Draken wrote:And a lot of people would argue (not me personally) that SSJ4 doesn't even exist

I was under the impression that Goku now has permanent access to the power, though the movie's reasoning for it is pretty sketchy. However, if that is not the case it was like, a lingering effect or something, then yea Goku's screwedGyt Kaliba wrote:That's after the Super Saiyan God stuff though, which I'm still confused about if Goku now has permanent access to it's power or not. Yeah, it's all a little sketchy sounding at the moment. I guess it's too soon to call anything really, since only one person out of the entire community has actually seen it. Maybe even more will clear up once Julian (I think? I get who is who of the staff mixed up sometimes. ^_^; ) is able to go see it.Draken wrote:I was under the impression that Goku now has permanent access to the power, though the movie's reasoning for it is pretty sketchy. This is so contradictory because if you can access the power after transforming once and "know how it feels", then the original SSG should have kept his power even though he transformation timed out.

I think Super Saiyan 4 is very endearing to casual Dragonball fans the world over... even some who generally disliked GT.

Accept it or not,Dragon Ball GT is canon. You dont have to like it but Akira wrote it,check the credits. This movie on the other hand isn't,both are great. I don't get why some people have to spread lies online and hate,if you don't like GT that's on you but this is a dragon ball site. Insulting a show of the trilogy or even kai is obviously gonna offend people. It's like they say if you don't got anything nice to say, shut the fuck up because nobody ask.

Stopped reading after that. Dragon Ball has no defined canon, and Toriyama had nothing to do with GT's story; all he did was draw some concept art for the main characters, the octo-ship, the logo and a couple of images of the trio on some planets.zSuper Vegetaz wrote:Accept it or not,Dragon Ball GT is canon. Sorry but Toriyama is credited as author in almost everything, even though he isn't, just look at the Daizenshuus, GT isn't suddenly canon because it continues a trend we've seen for years now. Battle of Gods is stated to be part of the official history and is mentioned to be connected to the manga by Toriyama himself. If anything Battle of Gods holds precedence over GT in continuity any day. Anyway now to pull a 180. Just because you like GT very much that doesn't make it canon.zSuper Vegetaz wrote:Accept it or not,Dragon Ball GT is canon. You dont have to like it but Akira wrote it,check the credits. That's what real legends are like in the first place, all have different interpretations.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:So, there are 4 legendary Super Saiyans from the ancient past currently, from all the official sources:

Really no one can determine the common denominator here other than the words Legendary Super Saiyan. The entirety of the Super Saiyan form itself from it's beginnings to it's end is legendary.

No he didn't, you're misinformed.zSuper Vegetaz wrote:Yeah no,he hired the whole caste for all3 animes, wrote the whole hap scipt and all concept art-fact.
The only thing Toriyama did was provide initial concept art for the series, but they were all based on a premise created by TOEI writers. You can see these images on Kazenshuu site I believe.
But that's it, Toriyama didn't write it, nor did he even come up with the idea for the series.
Despite all this, DBGT doesn't exactly destroy Dragonball as we know it continuity wise. Even in the manga continuity of Dragonball, there are inconsistencies with it's storyline in every place imaginable.
DBGT could easily be "canon" if TOEI or Toriyama decides it is, but as far as we're concerned no one from an official source has even made a Dragonball canon in the first place. However since TOEI likes to encompass the entire series into the product, including DBGT, one can assume that DBGT is accepted as a canon series on a marketing standpoint.
