Whaaaaaaaaa---!!!!!! That settles it! I'm getting Sparking!! Is there a song demo mode, or is it possible to get all of the tracks without any sound effects or voices interfering?
Eclipse wrote:Yeah. There was also a Makafushigi Adventure arrangement in Movie 1 (where Goku and Piccolo are fighting the powered up Garlic Jr). I have NO idea if that is on CD or not, but I definately know it is on Sparking! (in case you read the message above)
I know which piece you're talking about, and yeah, it's on CD all right. It's on the 5-disc set and the BGM Collection.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

Hang on. The audio quality for the BGM found on Sparking! is very very low. It sounds all right in the game due to all the other effects (shouting, yelling, fighting and such) but when ripped they sound awful. It's strange seeing the ripped audio from the first 3 Budokai games was of a decent quality.

If I remember correctly, VegettoEX did try to rip the Dan Dan from Sparking! but he confirmed that the quality wasn't the best.

Yeah... they're at 22 kHz, mono. All of the BGM in Sparking! is. It's gross :).

Aw, pooey. Just when I thought there was some last little blip of hope left in getting the BGM without the voices or SFX...

The audio in Sparking! isn't really top notch. For example, character voices come out much stronger from the left speaker. You can note the difference in quality, when compared to the three Budokai games, in story mode. Try Freeza v.s Vegeta on Namek. Freeza's voice is loud and pretty clear while Vegeta can be barely heard.

What I'm still hoping kenisu3000 is that we get the BGM CD for Sparking! just like we got the soundtracks for all other games released on PS2. The Dan Dan instrumental might be on that one. :P

Question about that. Say if you re-encode it into a different format like mp3PRO, or maybe stereo, would that possibly increase the quality? I know you can do the same to other music, but would it work for Sparking?

Re-encoding crap at a higher bitrate gives you the same crap with a larger filesize.

Wow. mp3PRO. I haven't heard about that since, like, 2001. Then Ogg Vorbis came out and I dropped it like a sack of sh--err, yeah. Ogg is definitely preferable, too bad it didn't gain mainstream success. It really is a damn impressive codec. I use it for all my personal rips.

Err, anyhow, like VegEX said, it won't work. Anytime you compress anything, it can only be as good as the original (usually worse, since all codecs tend to be lossy formats). Since the originals suck, any sort of re-encoding would only make it worse. Sorry.
