What impact has Battle of Gods had on your fanhood?
For me, first hearing about Battle of Gods during the winter gave my DBZ love an unreal surge of energy. I started buying the DVD's which I never have before and I really started to look into the movie itself. It's made me realize how "little" of a fan I really was and also made me realize how "big" of a fan I want to become. Ever since the movie launch I check this sight like it was facebook or twitter, I've started watching the series again, I can simply not get enough Dragonball. Just the fact of re-living a huge part of my childhood that I otherwise thought was dead is truly amazing.
So the question I pose to you is how has the movie influenced your love for the Dragon Ball franchise or what event really made you want to become a DBZ fan?

To be honest not much...
I looked forward to the updates and reading the synopsis. Of course, I'm looking forward to one day seeing the movie. There was a little surge of more interest when they announced a new SSJ form for some reason but yeah...

It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.
Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

The occasional lack of sleep, but nothing compared to a certain other guy on staff.
Oh, and I love loving things. And right now I love things.

Can't sleep. Dragon Ball will eat me.
But I did break tons of news to the English-speaking fandom (even if they don't know it), made the acquaintance of some seriously hardcore Japanese fans, got to go on national TV (for a few seconds, at least), and met the director of the movie. So I guess that's something.

I've taken on a dangerous and long quest to spread the use of "Beers" and Whis" for the new characters' names, or at least get everyone to stop using "Bills."

So now I have to pay "Beers"!? Oh great.Kaboom wrote:I've taken on a dangerous and long quest to spread the use of "Beers" and Whis" for the new characters' names, or at least get everyone to stop using "Bills."
As for the topic at hand, I dunno. It doesn't really change much, except I think that maybe, Toei might continue to produce animated Dragon Ball media in some way, shape or form (READ: more movies and crossovers/specials).

Not much.........yet. I don't want to see it until I can do so legally and conveniently, and I've been going out of my way to avoid as many spoilers as I possibly can. So for right now, all I'm doing differently is that I have the "Battle of Gods" page on Anime News Network bookmarked so that I can check on "Battle of Gods"-related news on a regular basis.
Well. That and Kanzenshuu, of course!

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Re: What impact has Battle of Gods had on your fanhood?
It, along with all the other recent onslaughts of new material (Heroes characters, Episode of Bardock, etc.), have made me want to walk around flipping tables when it comes to the rewrite project I've been attempting for a few years now. Every time I plan something, new shit comes out. IT. JUST. DOESN'T. STOP. xD
I always like new material though, so it's a love-hate relationship. Especially with Birus, who actually disrupted a lot of my plans, but he's such an enjoyable character so far.

It's nearly killed it after the constant sludgestorm of recent shitty products. I'm still here because I like the company, and I worry if I leave I won't come back.

Nothing, because I haven't seen it, and I chose to ignore the hype.

Re: What impact has Battle of Gods had on your fanhood?
Absolutely nothing, because I just don't really see what I have to be hyped about. To me it's normally new content, as Kai was. I wasn't around 17 years ago when the movies were being released in theatres, so there really isn't anything for me to be excited about that much, other than "yay, new movie".
So mondo lame.
Re: What impact has Battle of Gods had on your fanhood?
I'm expecting Battle of Gods to have an impact besides "oh, something new? Nice! Better tell people" once it's out of Japanese cinemas and I have actually seen it. Or if some kind of continuation gets announced before that it will probably have an impact.
As it is right now, Battle of the Gods had way less impact than Kai, but a little more than a video game release.

Re: What impact has Battle of Gods had on your fanhood?
I went from almost semi-retiring from the franchise back to extremely active. More active than I've been in years, both here and at DA. The only BOG stuff I have yet to do is actually get to watch the movie, make a few more purchases, and draw more fanart/comics. As to how long this lasts for me, I don't know.

It's been keeping me really hyped so far. Other than that not much has changed. The thing that surprised me the most was the new Ssj form. I was like dafuq!?

It made me go, "Hmm, I haven't read Dragon Ball since Senior year (3 years ago)...maybe I should reread it before I see Battle of Gods."

Re: What impact has Battle of Gods had on your fanhood?
Haha, I was going to make this topic too.
I like to think that during the "Battle of Gods season" I started contributing a lot more to the website in forum by digging up news and stuff instead of waiting for others to find it. This involved a good couple of hours each day, digging through Tweets
I also began having a greater appreciation for the franchise and Kanzenshuu (not that I didn't have any before), which I started visiting far more frequently.
The hype surrounding the film was such an awesome feeling and I hope we'll see a repeat of this at some point down the line. I loved leaving school with the excitement that something new might've been revealed.

Re: What impact has Battle of Gods had on your fanhood?
I do admit the movies release re-ignited my interest in watching old episodes and stuff, the other day i watched episode 22 just for a quick one and ended up watching up to 36! Sometimes watching one isn't enough. I am eager to see the film itself though, the animation looks so up-to-date and I need to know when it's actually released to buy, but then again, will it have subtitles? No other Japanese releases include subtitles, so I think it'll be a bit of a long wait.

Re: What impact has Battle of Gods had on your fanhood?
Until it becomes available for me to actually watch it, it's not really gonna play a big role in my day as a fan.
Re: What impact has Battle of Gods had on your fanhood?
Honestly, I'm not too keen on some of the concepts that the Movie has come up with. But as for its impact on my fandom..Not really much. I mean, I haven't even seem the thing, so...
