I wouldn't think so either, but a year or two ago they played a random episode on April 1st. So, I don't know.Saimaroimaru wrote:I doubt Ault Swim has any rights to DBZ and I doubt they are gonna pay for advertising during its Toonami block(where anime fans are gonna congregate on CN the most) that gets overall less ratings.matt0044 wrote:I dunno about Vortexx but what about Adult Swim?Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Yeah. I've seen Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends advertised on Nick and on April Fools, they showed the episode (from "Z") where Gohan defeats Cell.Saimaroimaru wrote: I doubt Ault Swim has any rights to DBZ and I doubt they are gonna pay for advertising during its Toonami block(where anime fans are gonna congregate on CN the most) that gets overall less ratings.

That was a special occasion type of thing.matt0044 wrote:on April Fools, they showed the episode (from "Z") where Gohan defeats Cell.
Plus, they would have needed to pay for musical royalties since the Faulconer Productions Soundtrack aired on TV.

In the contract with Funimation after the lawsuit, anytime Faulconer Productions music is aired on TV, all music royalties will need to be paid to Mr Faulconer himself. So effectively, yes.matt0044 wrote:Did they for that day?Gonstead wrote:That was a special occasion type of thing.matt0044 wrote:on April Fools, they showed the episode (from "Z") where Gohan defeats Cell.

Of course, this does not count for the home releases.

I don't see why not? I remember there was toy commercials for the 4th Terminator movie a few years back on Nick and Terminator is a R rated franchise. I think marketing uncut DVD's on a kids channel could be fine.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Yeah. Funimation or Vortexx should advertise the DVD's as uncut. I wonder if Vortexx is allowed to do that.

What are you trying to say? We all knew someone managed the decisions on the edits. Did you think a robot did all the edits or something?Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Now it all makes sense!

Yea, man. I don't understand either. Are you trying to say it's because she's an older woman? Who do you think looks over the edits? Teenage anime fans?Fennekin wrote:What are you trying to say? I meant to say Mr Popo's editing made sense since she is african american......I'm terrible.

Re: DragonBall Z Kai TV Network Version (CW4Kids\Toonzai\Vor
This whole Popo thing doesn't have to be a bad thing. I mean sure, it kinda sucks that the original material is being radically altered. But at the same time, it also sucks that a blatant black stereotype could still be seen on television. As DragonBall fans we're pretty used to Mr. Popo and for some of us, it probably doesn't even click in our brains that his appearance is offensive when he pops up on screen. But, if you've never seen DragonBall and you're a Mom or Dad watching this with your kids, despite your race, it might actually be really shocking.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:I meant to say Mr Popo's editing made sense since she is african american......I'm terrible.

I don't think you should say stuff like "it all makes sense" because of her ethnicity. I'm sure the decision for these edits go through more people than just her, so you shouldn't assume she made the edit to Mr. Popo personally.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:I meant to say Mr Popo's editing made sense since she is african american......I'm terrible.

It is just her. I mean, she's the Standards and Practices Person, she is the one who decides what goes and what not. Unless you suspect 4kids/Saban is cutting stuff without her being involved, which is quite possible.
Re: DragonBall Z Kai TV Network Version (CW4Kids\Toonzai\Vor
What I mean is, she probably has a team of advisors that help with deciding on the edits. I doubt she has the time by herself to review every single episode of every show that airs.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:It is just her. They can edit Mr. Popo but the design is still the same, the big lips and eyes, it's identical to the Golliwog's face.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:But, if you've never seen DragonBall and you're a Mom or Dad watching this with your kids, despite your race, it might actually be really shocking.

They can give him blue skin, but parents are still going to notice it.
They may as well replace the character or redraw his face.

So what was wrong with today's episode? The music track man, that and the SFX were really overshadowing the vocal track.
