I really hope this receives a re-translation. At the very least, I want the font to be changed. The current font in the weekly releases is god awful. I can't stand to look at it.

Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
For the Saiyan and Freeza arcs, I doubt we'll receive a new translation. There wasn't much wrong with the current translation of that part of the manga. As for the (inevitable) Cell/Buu arcs, there'll definitely be a need for some revisions/retranslations. If "Hercule" shows up again, IMMA BE DISAPPOINT.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

They should at least make Piccolo consistent and fix the line where they remove the Oozaru multiplier and take a jab at the Ocean Dub's change of having Goku think Vegeta killed Grandpa Gohan insteadtheoriginalbilis wrote:For the Saiyan and Freeza arcs, I doubt we'll receive a new translation. How did that line go again? Was it referencing the error or were they just straight up repeating it?TheDevilsCorpse wrote:They should at least make Piccolo consistent and fix the line where they remove the Oozaru multiplier and take a jab at the Ocean Dub's change of having Goku think Vegeta killed Grandpa Gohan insteadtheoriginalbilis wrote:For the Saiyan and Freeza arcs, I doubt we'll receive a new translation. Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
I was considering the VizBigs at some point, and had no real interest in the colorized Z, partly because I didn't like the idea of tampering with the art, and partly because it was only available in the US digitally.
Now that it's being printed, I'm suddenly interested in these... I mean, I like colorized Game Boy games like Links Awakening DX (though, I do still like the original for it's select button glitch), and this is in the same vein as those colorizations of black and white games.

It was referencing the dub and taking a jab at the mistranslation, not repeating the same mistake.Insertclevername wrote:How did that line go again? And Part 3 (Piccolo Daimao arc) is finally complete in MangaPolo! Part 4 (Saiyan arc) will also probably end in 3 weeks, so I hope they will continue to Part 5.

Well, you certainly called it, lol. Though I wouldn't say that's expensive as Hell given the size of the volumes we'll be getting.funrush wrote:I can imagine them doing it, but making it expensive as hell. Like, $20+ a volume.Son Satan wrote:As much as I prefer the original color pages to this new coat of paint, I'd buy them if they came out in English.
Speaking of which, how do you guys see the chances of a Viz release? I'd say it's very unlikely, simply because they didn't even put all the colored pages in the Vizbigs.
I recently went back and checked the beginning of my topic (back when it was pure speculation) to see what some people thought. It's rather amusing:
Well now you don't have to!mattymoron wrote:I would kill for a fully colored version of the manga.

I mean, I don't think it'll happen - that's a lot of effort to go through after all. But it would be nice to see something like that, and it would be like crack to a lot of fans similar to ourselves. We'd buy one volume, then get hooked.
Well, you might have to get ready for that, because it's coming, lol.Fizzer wrote:If they were to now bring out a fully coloured kanzenban series with Toriyama's choices of colours, at triple the price of the kanzenbans we have now, I would live off of cheap bread and tap water to be able to by them. That would be brilliant.
It's an amazing feeling when something you bring up suddenly happens. It's something I really wanted, so I'm very happy, but it's also surprising; I really didn't think Shueisha would actually do it. But, I'm glad they did.

The complete Saiyan arc is available to watch on MangaPolo. It's US & UK only I think, and it will be available from 18 July to 16 August. It uses the Viz translation, and has censored Popo. They also re-uploaded the first 26 chapters (in Japanese), which will be available until the end of July.
I want to ask, is Mr. Popo the only thing censored in the US verison?

Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
For those wanting the "Full Color" release of DBZ to be free of the issues/mistakes of previous editions (translation tweaks, better fonts, uncensored), take action.
Email, write, or contact Viz and let them know you want the upcoming print release to have a better font, less censoring, etc. Talking about it on a message board honestly isn't going to let them the publisher know. February is still a long ways off, so better for the fans to make their voices heard sooner than later, lest we want a repeat of the 3-in-1s.

Agreed. And while people are at it, please remind Viz, ad nauseam if necessary (and it probably is), that:theoriginalbilis wrote:For those wanting the "Full Color" release of DBZ to be free of the issues/mistakes of previous editions (translation tweaks, better fonts, uncensored), take action.

Optima Nova Condensed is not a comic lettering font.

I might be mistaken, but I do believe they answered a fan question on the Shonen Jump Podcast (I listened to hear what they had to say about Jaco being related to DB) with them mentioning that Shueisha handled the coloring (obviously) and the typesetting...SaiyaJedi wrote:Agreed. Also, you can Tweet them at @shonenjump and @vizmedia, as well as ask them questions every now and then in the weekly Shonen Jump Issue Survey at http://www.shonenjump.com/issue-survey,

Thanks guys.
Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
Hum, in that case, yeah, I guess it's out of Viz's hands. They can try to nicely ask Shueisha to modify it.TheDevilsCorpse wrote: I might be mistaken, but I do believe they answered a fan question on the Shonen Jump Podcast (I listened to hear what they had to say about Jaco being related to DB) with them mentioning that Shueisha handled the coloring (obviously) and the typesetting...
But if Shueisha is as stubborn as they were with the French Perfect Edition (Kanzenban), they'll say "nah, you keep it the way we chose it".
But maybe Viz can try to convince them cause it's "obviously what fans want", saying they've received tons of mails asking for that change, and satisfying fans can only be an advantage!
Did you have that typeset before, in previous releases?
Cause if it's something Shueisha has decided very recently for this edition... they could decide the same for all upcoming editions around the world, including us French readers!
Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
Ah, based on the today's Mangapolo chapters, it seems "digital-exclusive Kaio" turns to "printed Kaio" even on the digital versions as soon as there's the flashback explaining the Kaioken.
It is closer to the anime version, but still has differences in some parts (surrounding double-lines on his clothes and possibly glasses).

Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
The Full-Color Manga is by far the bloodiest version of the story that exists, beyond the anime but also beyond the original black and white version itself.
The amount of damages you can see on the warriors during the battle against Vegeta is astonishing, they are really, REALLY badly hurt in that version and covered in blood and bloody bruises like you've splashed a bucket of blood on each of them!
