I doubt it. Battle of Gods is a huge deal in LatAm. No one likes Kai, as I've mentioned before. Also, a lot of the actors originally declined because the pay was too low. I don't think that will change. Besides, it'd be inconsistent to change the voices like that, even if they are the original casts'.

He already did but as a fan dub, same with Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku with Adrian Barba (another dragon ball singer who sang we gotta power). He commonly does that for the fans, he recorded Cha La Head Cha La full version as a present for his fans, nothing official, I'm very excited because this is the first time in a while he's involved in a Dragon ball project


All the cast is confirmed, We only need Laura Torres and My life... would be completed.

I think they'll get Laura Torres, it's just a matter of how long the contract negociation goes on. But, good stuff on the original cast coming back! (Other than the unknown status or dead now being the exceptions). It'll be interesting seeing Mario Castañeda return to Goku and with crystal clear quality. Any clips of the Latin American Spanish dub I've seen the acting, scripiting and voices were all well done. But, the audio quality itself was iffy (ironically like the Japanese version). I actually am a fan of Matus's Goku. But, then again as KingofWisdom said it reminds me of Schemmel's Goku and his screaming is top notch like Schemmel is now. Plus, I have no attachment to the original Latin American cast, so take that as it is. But, I love seeing a bunch of different dubs for shows I watch. Even like South Park or The Simpsons.

I know FUNi released episodes 1-27 (technically 30 if we count that last Spanish volume of theirs) & movie 5 then another company released episodes 1-54? and a different company has episodes 1-somewhere in the 70s.

I got clips of them that I use in amvs. The quality is great. Even through I really don't care 4 sound quality.

I can't deny that, you hit that right on the mark. I have only seen compressed and terrible rips of it. I would get the Ultimate Uncut only for the Latin American dub at this point. No point in buying the same episodes I have via the Dragon Boxes (all of Z), Kai (what's out so far) and even an old Pioneer VHS of some of the episodes.

I just wish someone would put out the entire series's Latin American dub without cancelling the darn run. I think GT was released in its entirety by Towers Entertainment in Mexico but that's all. Apparently they do have the distribution license for DBZ as well, but they haven't done anything with it.

Just wondering, have there been any updates on whether or not Laura Torres (the original voice actress for Kid Goku, Kid Gohan, and Kid Goten) will reprise the role of Goten for "Battle of Gods"? I gather from this article that she may not, but I was wondering if anybody with a greater understanding of Spanish could elaborate.

From what I can gather, it seems that some of the higher-ups involved with the Spanish dub hold some sort of grudge against Torres. I think, based on a Google-Translate version of this article, she initiated an ANDA strike against the producers several years ago (ANDA being the Asociación Nacional de Actores, otherwise known as the National Association of Actors, the Mexican actor's union...basically Mexico's equivalent of SAG-AFTRA here in America). According to this article, she was able to initiate the strike because she was President of the ANDA Dubbing Commission at the time.

Anyways. It would appear, if I read the first article correctly, that the producers are still bitter about her involvement with the strike and are refusing to hire her purely for that reason, despite the fact that this strike took place eight years ago and has long since been resolved. Torres seems to have also mentioned that two highly-respected Spanish dubbing actresses were apparently offered the role of Goten (instead of her), and that both of these actresses turned it down out of respect for Torres (again, if I'm reading this right).

Yeah, I don't like that either when actors are criminalized by the fans for taking over a role previously occupied by somebody else. Granted, less-than-moral scheming is common in show business, but the vast majority of the time, it's coming from the execs, not the actors and actresses who are just trying their hardest to give a good performance.

No one knows who is the new voice actress. she isn´t in the credits and she recorded her lines without the dub director after everything else was finished.

The Latin American dub of DBZ is more overrated than the Animaze/Bandai Entertainment English dub of Cowboy Bebop. The Latin American dub has a lot of dub errors, a terrible voice for Cell and nostalgia blinding it. You only like the Z dub because you grew up with it. It's no different to how US Americans see the CB dub. That dub has a bad Vicious voice, an inconsistent script, dub errors and the VAs were not great from the get go. Also, the Latin American dub like the CB English dub is not a 1/1 or anything close. They are both borderline accurate, with dub errors.

Just because the newer dub replaced the "original" VAs doesn't make it worse than the Z dub. If the Spanish can admit that the Spanish dub is superior through open mindedness, why don't you be more open minded about the newer dub?

Clearly you have not checked the other spanish dub for dbz, or some other latin american dubs of those times or before the, for example Saint Seiya's dub had massive errors. Atleast the Dragon ball latin american dub had SOUL in it's dialogue and delivery.

Also Cell's Voice is great. only the screams could be better.

I get he's an Andriod, but he sounds too robotic in the dub for my taste. Never liked Latino Yi Xing Long either. But, overall I like the Latino dub. It also kinda bothers me when non Japanese versions use Saiya-jin. Couldn't it be Saiyans or Saiyanos, or whatever the proper approximation would be or keeping something like -sama. It has different language equivalents.

It's because it feels much better in our tongue, Saiyan sounds too "americanish" for us, and saiyanos does not sound that good in our language as you would think. Saiyajin sounds not only original, but also cool and easier on our ears. For the honorifics, I guess that was a choice by Dragon ball dub director Gloria Rocha, she tried to put in some of the honorifics as things like "Lord Kaoih" "Lord Enmma" "Lord Kami" would simply not do since the quivalent of "Lord" in our Language is "Mister" and that's our only word for that, so it was either leaving the translation as "Lord" in english, or using the honorifics, which would sound not only cooler, but better.

BTW, There was a time where we also used "Namekuseijin" and "Tsufurijin" which was well accepted, then during the GT era they started using "Namekiano" and "Tsufuru" which did not have the punch it once had.
