Gamestop Video Game News

Post by Mike » Sat Jun 03, 2006 8:06 pm

I just checked Gamestop's website and they seem to have (accurate?) release dates and prices for a number of upcoming DBZ games.

Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure (GBA)
6/13/06 - $29.99
Including AWESOME NEW COVER ART
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=161077

Super Dragon Ball Z (PS2)
7/18/06 - $39.99
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=281567

Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (PS2)
10/17/06 - $39.99
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=281598

Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi NEO (Wii)
3/30/07 - $59.99
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?pro ... id=T000377

There is both good news and bad news.

GOOD:
-Super DBZ and Tenkaichi 2 aren't full priced.
-Advanced Adventure finally seems to be coming out and with an awesome new box art.

BAD:
-Wii version of Tenkaichi is sixty bucks.
-Wii version also comes out after the PS2 one.

The only other thing to note is that the Wii version of Tenkaichi 2 will be named Tenkaichi NEO. This is most likely because Nintendo owners never saw the first game.

Patience Thanos; with all that extra time I'm sure the Wii version will just be that much better, and take advantage of all of the next gen cosole's power...right?

I'm glad both "Sparking! NEO" & "Super DBZ" are at a $40 price mark. At least that answers some of the forum members questions here. I can understand Super DBZ being at the $40 price mark for its quantity of characters but Sparking! NEO? This is certainly very good news.

Makes sense about the PS2 pricings, considering the PS2 is phasing out in turn of the PS3.

Most of the newer games are going down in price and older ones are being discounted.

As for the PS2 releases, It's mucho good news that I don't have to spend $100 on Sparking NEO and Super DBZ now. I was looking forward to the Wii version coming out before 2007, but oh well. This gives me time to save up for it, considering I'll be broke when the Wii actually launches.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Hm, while a good deal of this is probably accurate, EB/Gamestop is famous in my mind for pulling dates and prices from their collective ass. I remember their listing 'Phantasy Star Trilogy' for about a year and a half, when all three games that comprised said trilogy hadn't even come out yet in Japan, nor had any date/price been mentioned by the publisher (who went bankrupt, as it turns out), and kept pushing the date back by a month each time it was obvious the game wasn't coming.

Anyway, I'm definitely psyched for Super DBZ. I think I'll be ordering the Japanese version this Friday when I get paid. As for Tenkaichi NEO...eh, we'll see. I wasn't wowed by the first one after one playthrough, but maybe like the Budokai series it'll get better.

I assume $39.99 for Super DBZ and Tenkaichi 2 are in US currency. That'll probably end up like $50 Canadian, I guess.

Anyway, thanks for sharing that, Mike. :)

As a former Gamestop employee (albeit temporary), I can tell you there is no ass-pulling of these release dates. These are given to Gamestop by publishers and developers. It is still weird that there's the occasional "Duke Nukeum Forever" or "Mega Man Anniversary Collection" (GBA version) that keeps getting pushed back, but those dates are actually supplied by those working on the games.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

That's fine, I've known plenty of employees and managers also. However, I know for a fact that Gamestop/EB kept pulling dates for Phantasy Star Trilogy out of thin air since I has actually in contact with Conspiracy Games (the company who has doing the localization before they went bankrupt and Sega reclaimed the rights).

Well, I can't speak for Phantasy Star Trilogy, other than my want for it. I never, ever saw it on our release schedule.

Now let's try to get back to Dragon Ball, shall we? Anybody know why Advanced Adventure was delayed so many times? I don't think it's just for the cover art. And when the Dabra is Transformation 2 actually going to come out? That's another that's been delayed a bunch.

I am quite stoked to hear that DragonBall Advanced Adventure will be making its way to America. I remember, about a year or so ago, a Member from MFG, tried to get me to import Advance Adventure from the United Kingdom because I really wanted one; however, I told him it would eventually come to America. Even though he would always tell me it wouldn't, I can now laugh in his face.

I guess I don't have to worry anymore about never owning a DragonBall game. Even though I never really worried.
