Why did Goku's voice get even deeper in SSJG. Doesn't seem right.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Madman has the rights for Austrailia:

Which confuses me, since don't they usually get the rights to Dragon Ball from FUNimation?

Instead of deepening it, I think keeping it identical to base form's voice like Nozawa did works best. It's not a form started up by anger like regular ssj after all.

I agree. It really doesn't make sense to me that it got deeper.Chuquita wrote:Re: Gokû's ssjg voice in the Funi dub

Well, that's a voice I more want to hear in action (on the plus side, if they do use the voice actor, some game experience may give them time/practice on refining the take).AjayLikesGaming wrote:Whis' voice is great but damn, Birus just doesn't sound right. I can't see that voice switching to the anger shown by Yamadera after the pudding scene. That was terrifying.
Also, Schemmel is sounding far too heroic...yet again. Really not feeling it. I guess in video games, you kinda have to play up that side of Goku so perhaps it'll more toned down for the film's release.
As for Schemmel's performance...Heroic? What on Earth are you talking about? As a person who regularly watches Superhero Shows, reads a crapload of Superhero Comics, and has been on a Green Lantern Podcast for four years, I don't hear heroic. Hell, with his SSJ God delivery, I would argue it's almost a tad arrogant (though that might be for the game's particular delivery).
In fact, watching the Japanese trailer, and between the subs and recognizing a few words, I'd say Nozawa was working with similar dialogue. If dialogue was the issue, that's not Schemmel and Co's fault. I rather like how Schemmel emphasized the "God" in "Super Saiyan God". That's the most roughness I heard in the words.
Once again, there is a third version with both English voices and FLOW's Head-Cha-La on Namco-Bandai's official Youtube channel:theoriginalbilis wrote:Just noticed that there are two versions of the BoZ trailer out:

Looks some North American company *cough*FUNi*cough* may have finally BoG. Madman usually gets their titles as a sub-license from an American/UK distributor.
Though it's possible Madman may have licensed it themselves, and no US company has the distribution rights yet...

Uh.. I'm happy to actually hear Whis and Beers in english, but not what I expected at all. I guess they sound alright.. Couldn't they find someone to at least match their Japanese counterparts?
Was the deeper voice really needed for Goku's super saiyan god? Interesting..

Well, hopefully they'll put more effort into a movie than into a video game. I know that I wouldn't give a crap if I had to dub the 90th DBZ game made this minute with a new hat.
I just think it's amusing that the movie makes a reference to Tarble and the Jump Special was never dubbed in English.

I actually love Bilus's dub voice and I think it's the best thing since Ayers as Freeza. I'm REALLY hoping Funi does Battle of God's now.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
When did Madman license BoG? This is great news if they got to do it through Funi. Would be amusing if Funi dubbed it and all...only for the dub to not be released in the US, but only in Australia, lol.theoriginalbilis wrote:Looks some North American company *cough*FUNi*cough* may have finally BoG. Well, judging game performances for future anime performances might be a bit unfair (especially to the burned out guys who have been doing this since Budokai 1), but it's certainly small snippets. Delivery will certainly be key. I wonder who voiced them...Jackal puFF wrote:Uh.. I'm happy to actually hear Whis and Beers in english, but not what I expected at all. I guess they sound alright.. It reminds me of Schemmel's voice work for the other Super Saiyan forms. He progressively altered his voice for each Super Saiyan form, which gave his take on the character a nice little unique flair (when paired up with Kai-level voice acting, I find it to be a nice little mark for Schemmel to add). That said, it's certainly different than his SSJ3/4 voice.
At first, it doesn't sound that different than his more fight ready voice when he's upset, but the way he delivered that "GOD!" certainly sounded different. "I'll show you the power of a Super Saiyan God!" sounds a bit off from Goku given what I've heard about the movie...but then again, Nozawa did mention the form and Chikara (which refers to power or strength...I forget which is more accurate, but still).

Okay, I quite easily have matching 'credentials' but that doesn't make my opinion any less valid. I hear heroic and have always done when it's come to Schemmel, I mean that was the major issue many took with the Funi dub. Goku felt far too heroic at times and I'm not denying that Nozawa's Goku doesn't either but it's never quite sat right with me when it's come to Schemmel.Mewzard wrote:As for Schemmel's performance...Heroic? Like I said, perhaps it's just the video game direction rather than indicative of what his voice work may be like for the actual film. His job in Kai was great so I see no reason why it wouldn't be in the BoG dub.

While this is great, do we even know if they're distributing a dubbed version of this movie? The article is pretty vague, and in the end, I can think of three possibilities:SSJ4 Furanki wrote:Madman has the rights for Austrailia:

1. They acquired the movie and it's in Japanese Dub with English Subtitles.
2. They acquired the movie and it's being dubbed by FUNimation.
3. They acquired the movie and it's being dubbed by Madman.
Is there anyway we could figure out exactly what language this movie will be in?

Maybe fox decided to do a North American version sub and Madman will handle Austraila. Maybe...if Fox gets their own VA's (which would be stupid) maybe Madman contracted FUNi to the Austrailan english dub..a back door of sorts? Just an idea lolFennekin wrote:While this is great, do we even know if they're distributing a dubbed version of this movie? Sort of like how for the longest while the Funi-dubbed first arc of the orignial DB was only available on dvd in Australia due to kinda-similar circumstances?eledoremassis02 wrote:Maybe fox decided to do a North American version sub and Madman will handle Austraila. That could be very well (although I'm not too sure what was goin on there).Chuquita wrote: Sort of like how for the longest while the Funi-dubbed first arc of the orignial DB was only available on dvd in Australia due to kinda-similar circumstances?
The only other things I could hint at is that it'll be just a subbed version as they mention the 17th Japanese Film Festival showing it subbed. That really all the info we have now. With that and Battle of Z it should be interesting.
Though it's interesting because doesnt Madman usally go through FUNi for DBZ? Seems like they picked it up themselves? Or maybe FUNi helped but not sure if they can because of Fox. Unless Fox OK'd FUNi and are letting them do the movie and they just have't announced it yet and they'll dub it by sometime in 2014 for the theatrical release in Australia?

I just hope that if FOX is, in fact, dubbing this, that they at least bring back all the FUNimation VAs for their respective characters.eledoremassis02 wrote:Maybe fox decided to do a North American version sub and Madman will handle Austraila. If by some miracle Madman releases their own subbed version, here's hoping there aren't any more PAL/NTSC issues.
