Is Namco Bandai holding back???
Have they been putting out poorly made products on purpose?? I mean almost every game on this Gen consoles were garbage. Do you think they are just trying to milk DBZ as much as they can until it becomes dead??

Re: Is Namco Bandai holding back???
I highly doubt they are setting out to purposefully make bad games.
As the sales continue to go down, the amount of resources (time, funding, etc.) they're going to allocate to the games is just going to decrease. It's a ruthless cycle, because that means that -- without any external forces to help (a la Battle of Gods, so we'll see how Battle of Z works out) -- the entire quality cycle is just going to keep heading down the tubes. Why put money into something that's just going to coast, ya' know?
But again, they're not TRYING to make "bad" games. People have certainly liked some of the things that have come out in the HD generation, and there have been a ton of great games in the portable space (Attack of the Saiyans for the RPG fans, Ultimate Butoden for the 2D-style fighting fans, maybe even Tenkaichi Tag Team for the 3D-style fighting fans).

Re: Is Namco Bandai holding back???
I think a "next gen" game would be even more unlikely. With the bump in technology comes an increase in funds. As Mike said, "As the sales continue to go down, the amount of resources (time, funding, etc.) they're going to allocate to the games is just going to decrease". What I imagine they're going to do is cling on to this generation even longer and perhaps delve further into the portable front. Budget titles may be more common ala Budokai Collection.
If you want better games, support the ones that you actually think are good or could potentially lead to better funded projects. I'm sure Namco Bandai would love the series to return to it's Budokai days in the early 2000's and they have the resources to pull it off. It's just our initiative that matters.

So what you are saying is that Namco Bandai has to have a demand? For example if 90% of the community liked Budokai 3 and asked NB for a sequel NB would do it?Insertclevername wrote:I think a "next gen" game would be even more unlikely. It may be a stretch to say this but I'd dare say the future of DB games is laying rather uncomfortably on the shoulders of Battle of Z.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Re: Is Namco Bandai holding back???
I think Namco Bandai has been using Spike for their main DBZ titles since 2005 because they are likely cheaper. Most DBZ games are pretty much the same game with more characters and some minor changes. Having someone like Dimps to make more games would likely cost more since they are a bigger game developer. With Battle of Z, they got someone new for once. I think Battle of Z flops then who knows what will happen next. Maybe they will stop making console games and stick with handle games or stop making DBZ games in general.

Do you think they'll ever sell the license?

Bandai has own the DB license for over 25 years. They will likely own the rights to Dragon Ball forever.

Re: Is Namco Bandai holding back???
I'll take more than just asking. If you want Namco Bandai to make another Budokai game, throw money towards the Budokai HD Collection. If enough people were to do the same then Namco Bandai will see there is consumer appeal.budokaifanatic007 wrote:So what you are saying is that Namco Bandai has to have a demand? It's the money in your wallet that gets the ball rolling.

Hmm i have yet to buy the HD collection. Are there any data on how the Budokai HD collection sold? Did it sell well??Insertclevername wrote:I'll take more than just asking. Re: Is Namco Bandai holding back???
With the rising cost of next-gen games development, we're seeing a shortage of all anime games at the moment.
There is an interesting trend with more gamers flocking to PCs, at the end of this year there will be a PC port of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. We are likely to get more anime games being released via digital stores such as Steam and stores like the PSN and eShop.

Here's a thought: If Battle of Z fails, maybe they'll just make DBZ games for the VIta and other portable devices because its cheaper and lesser risk involved

Re: Is Namco Bandai holding back???
Maybe in the US. I think the market for anime has became smaller in the US then it was 10 or 15 years ago. Not many people buy anime related games outside the Otaku fandom and kids. I think DBZ games in the future will most likely be released on the 3DS if they keep on flopping on the consoles.AlexFili wrote: We are likely to get more anime games being released via digital stores such as Steam and stores like the PSN and eShop.

But NB knows how to put out a good game. I know they can at anytime(well not ANY time)put out a GOOD game.Hellspawn28 wrote:Maybe in the US. Quick question , if Namco Bandai were to bring Dimps back into the picture would there be a greater chance of a B4 or IW2 ?? Just wondering.

Re: Is Namco Bandai holding back???
I see Dimps making a Budokai game under a different title like "Mega Budokai" or something similar. Dimps is busy with other projects and they seem to be cheaper for them to make Heroes stuff then make someone on the consoles.

Get dimps to come back. Then we can get an awesome Budokai game.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Re: Is Namco Bandai holding back???
I could hope for a Heroes Budokai on the Vita or 3DS. I think the Vita is more likely since fighting games seem to be more popular on that handle. Not to mention people from the US can import the game if it never comes out here in the US.
