If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Most disgrace thing I've seen in my life. This reminds me when they did that advert and said Dende was purple or something like that.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:Saw this on Tanooki Kuribo's Twitter...um, yeah. I'll let it speak for itself:

I could see YTV making an ad like that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRYJoosuYag

Vortexx actually got much better at advertising DBZKai! Their latest ad was epic! Almost a Toonami lite.

I still think Nicktoons had the best DBZKAI promos. Which IMO was better than ToonamiCure Dragon 255 wrote:Vortexx actually got much better at advertising DBZKai! Their latest ad was epic! Almost a Toonami lite.

Just saw episode 97 of Kai on Vortexx. They edited the whole bit of Goku talking to everyone from otherworld. It starts with "Hey Guys", and immediately followed by "Don't wish me back, bye!" So confusing, not to mention a loss of over two whole minutes!

Wow, that sounds... hilariously rushed. Wish I recorded that.DefectiveV wrote:Just saw episode 97 of Kai on Vortexx. They edited the whole bit of Goku talking to everyone from otherworld. Goku probably talked too much about the other world and being dead.
I seriously still don't understand what's so bad if a kid knows what death is. I don't think it's so avoided in Europe as it is in America.

It was extremely poorly edited. And thats extremely true, but as you already know, any topic of "Death" is taboo in North America. Always thought about why. I've got some theories, but I don't think I'm allowed conversing if its not Dragonball related.Shnuki wrote:Goku probably talked too much about the other world and being dead.

On sidenote, this saturday (tomorrow) they WILL be airing Episode 98. The first broadcast of it (not on nicktoons to my understanding),and can't wait to see how it is edited (#17 holding a gun to old man's head comes to mind).
ALSO, not sure if this counts as "Buu Kai" news, but Episode 98 is being labeled as a "SEASON" finale. Could be another indicator that Buu Kai is getting prepped for broadcast. Anyone remember how Episode 97 was labeled on Nicktoons?

Actually I think it's allowed since it's connected to DB. So I think you're okay. I'll like to hear your theories. I bet some would as well.DefectiveV wrote:It was extremely poorly edited. It's related to the topic, so why not? And I'd like to hear your theories, cause I really can't come up with any (what, concept of death is too scary for kids? Give me a break).DefectiveV wrote:I've got some theories, but I don't think I'm allowed conversing if its not Dragonball related.![]()

I hear kids saying "Imma kill you with this sword(aka a stick)" and talking about how in video games and movies how "Badass" a kill was. It's like America censorship doesn't know their own kids. Reminds how Eminem doesn't let his kids listen to music with cussing in it yet...you know. Almost all his songs have cussing in itShnuki wrote:It's related to the topic, so why not? For starters, childrens programming can't get away with mention of death or using "die, death, kill" etc. (For an introduction to this, goolge "TvTropes Never Say die". I've always thought why, considering other programming gets away with so much (PG with Death, Mild Swearing. Violence, etc), and succeeding Ratings blurring the line with the grit of reality (In my opinion, some TV14 Material is actually really violent for 14 Year olds). But children seem to get the shaft end of the stick, especially when pertaining to Animation, and especially in the New 10s.Shnuki wrote:It's related to the topic, so why not? My personal theory, is that the fcc is made up primarily of religious promoting individuals, who remark "Death" in direct correlation with Christianity, where it is the "summation and end all of existence". This all goes back to my extreme liberalism, but perhaps Children are shielded from death so that they may make use of their time on Earth, under God, of course, and never keep it as a concept itself.
To be honest, I didn't really understand the concept of death until I was about 17, and had a near death experience (currently 20, but that is subject to revision).
The reason I believe they censored "Goku's farewell" message is due to his preaching. He preaches about living, bringing evil to the earth with his presence (sound familiar?) not to mention that he basically died so that humanity could continue and learn from their mistakes. The fact that he stays dead is in perfect correlation with the Son of God. The fact that he speaks from the heavens (everyone looks up when Goku talks) also doesn't help .
This is extremely sparknoted, just got home, tired, etc. But thats the jist. Thoughts?

"Sigh"
Its not really kids they are trying to shield from death. The CW is protecting THEMSELVES agaisnt lawsuits and or advertisers removing their ads.
Let Mark Evanier explain it for me.
TL DR Version: If they showed too much explicit death, sex and violence they would get sued from here to heaven! And their advertisers would refrain from advertising on Vortexx. They DO show more than 4Kids and they are doing a pretty good job at airing DBZKai and keeping it relevant for this generations kids!
I think they know kids arent dumb, but they still HAVE to please Standards and Practices.

TV networks, because they reach so many people, are always being sued and/or protested, often over things you could never imagine would create problems. Most of the time, the network position is defensible and the outrage falls into the "nuisance" category…but even nuisance suits and protests can be a nuisance. And expensive to defend against. In kids’ television, the stakes seem higher. A protester yelling, "This show is poisoning our children" will usually get more traction than someone bitching about a show for general audiences. The sponsors of kidvid are especially frail and known to atomize over very little negative feedback.
Censorship of broadcast television has declined greatly in the era of HBO, Showtime and DVDs…but in the early eighties, if you were creating a show for CBS, NBC or ABC you usually found yourself in the following dilemma. You had to please the Programming People who bought the show and prayed for ratings. They wanted your program to be edgy and sexy and full of action and excitement. And then you had to please the Standards and Practices People. They wanted your show to be nice and quiet and non-controversial. The two divisions rarely spoke with one another. In fact, in some cases, they hated each other too much to converse. Either way, they fought their battles by playing tug-o’-war with you and your show.
