Haha! That was brilliant, thanks so much! I still love his compositions from the Super Butoden and Budokai games, but maaaaan, he could've tried to make his outright copying of less obvious. Shame...
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Has anyone here heard a similar song to this? Assuming this track was ripped off as well by Kenji Yamamoto?(If this was pointed out in a previous page, then please let me know).

Jeez, that Hand of Blood rip-off is unbelievable. I can't even begin to comprehend what was going through his head whilst he was doing this.

Sounds like an upbeat version of "Mind Power ... Ki", especially at the beginning with the drums:

Here I thought that the soundtrack from Budokai 2 was entirely Tower of Power music (minus the carryover songs from Budokai 1). I believe that makes the fourth ripoff from a Stratovarius song. Oh, Yamamoto...

I've found a couple more similarities. I know this first one has been mentioned before on this forum, but not shown entirely to my knowledge. Only the beginning parts are similar:

Budokai 3 - Powerful Man from the Darkness

X-Men Legends - Sentinel Lab (Quiet)

Note that the rock portion of "Powerful Man from the Darkness" is similar to "Droppin' Plates" from Disturbed. You'll hear it at 32 seconds in "Powerful Man from the Darkness" and at 36 seconds in "Droppin' Plates". This post was back on page 6 of this thread:
Shiyonasan wrote:Just found another one. Although the whole song isn't ripped off, "Powerful Man From the Darkness" from Budokai 3 (the song that plays in the Inside Buu stage) has a section that sounds like a sped up (probably x1.5 or so) version of a section from the song "Droppin' Plates" from Disturbed. In the Disturbed song, listen more to the instruments than the vocals. Hear for yourself:

Budokai 3 - Powerful Man from the Darkness

Disturbed - Droppin' Plates
This second one is similar, but not entirely a ripoff. It's just that these two parts from both songs sound kind of similar:

Budokai 3 - Greatest Tactics in the Universe

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Warped

Apparently someone stole from Yamamoto this time around.

But it's weird how that happened... both games were released around the same time.

I don't know if Rik Schaffer (composer for X-Men Legends) necessarily stole the music from Yamamoto, especially considering the two games came out so close to each other. Not to mention X-Men Legends came out in September 2004, two months before Budokai 3 came out in November 2004.

It is strange though how the same melody is used in both songs in both games. Perhaps Yamamoto and Schaffer met each other at some point in time while both games were in development and shared their music with each other? That's probably unlikely, but you never know what goes on behind the scenes.

OR. Both Yamamoto and Schaffer both ripped from the same pre-existing song.

I still stand by my statement that they should have kept his score and that it blow's Kikuchi's out of the water. I honestly really dont care about the scandal at all, it was good music.

Regardless of much better anyone thought it was than Kikuchi's, keeping it could have been a legal nightmare for Toei.

True, just stating my opinion on the scores. Strange though that they found out when they did and not earlier when..lets say he composed the Budokai games. Budokai 3 still has the best DBZ soundtrack out there.

I'm inclined to agree. Maybe I'm crazy, but personally, the scandal and the fact that he's copied a lot of melodies from other artists doesn't effect my opinion on the beautiful soundtracks to the Super Butouden or Budokai series one wit. :|

It sort of bothers me but I can look past it for the most part.
