Bought this after being aware it comes bundled with the Portuguese dub which I've always and originally was the way I first watched the series.

Image

Pros:
- Includes the Portuguese (Portugal) dub which was never released in Portugal, or for that matter, on DVD.
- Features the Japanese audio, French dub, Spanish dub and Portuguese dub.
- Menus are in its own languages.
- Episodes 1 to 4.

Cons:
- The dubbed languages don't include the dubbed openings so that's a shame, especially for the PT dub because in this specific case would have been in high quality.
- The Japanese opening for some reason also has subtitles in Japanese rather than one of the other languages, this alienates the audience.
- After this volume they cancelled this release.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

I bought the Season 8 'Orange Brick' using vouchers I got for Christmas last year. They were due to expire tomorrow, actually.

Gonna need some help from you guys here. I've also got a $20 iTunes voucher that I haven't spent, and I was gonna use it on either the Dragon Ball Z & Z2 Soundtrack or the Dragon Ball Z 3 Soundtrack. So, which one do you think I should get? I'm leaning towards the latter right now, but there's some good tracks on the former as well. :| The awesome thing is, they're only around $18.99 each or something. That's way better than the $40 plus shipping that it use to cost on Play-Asia and I was shocked to see that they were, one, even available on iTunes in the first place, and two, that they haven't been taken down yet. And the prices! I never thought I'd be able to obtain these songs without paying more than $30. :D

If you've listened to both previously just go with the one you like most. It's not a hard decision considering you're not getting a hard-copy of it but rather a digital which is identical to other music files.

Not sure if the audio quality of songs from iTunes is as good as tracks ripped of a CD via FLAC.

Just bought the four Kai sets off Amazon. I was kind of hesitant to pick up the series until it was complete with Buu, but 90 dollars for 98 episodes was a pretty sweet deal.

That's a steal for the amount of content you're getting, plus it's way cheaper than buying the "Parts" sets.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Dragon Ball Movie 1-4 set. Never seen these, actually.

Yeah. Although I was bummed about the whole Yamamoto music scandal, since even the first two sets that originally kept it now don't anymore, I figured no amount of pouting was going to bring it back, and the holiday sales on Amazon were as much of an incentive as ever to pick it up despite that. I can still totally enjoy Kai despite questionable placement of the Kikuchi score.

Plus, it'll look neat on my DVD shelves to have a "HD DBZ" section, since I currently have a shelf that perfectly fit my Blue Bricks, Dragon Box, and movie sets by sheer coincidence, but I'll be able to integrate my Kai and BOG BRs with the rest of my normal DVDs on the shelves below it. I'll have to take pictures when I go home next week.

Just curious...how will you decide to watch between DBZ or Kai? I was considering getting Kai, but I already had DBZ. So I sided against it.

Well, I've already watched both. But I enjoy DBZ and Kai for different reasons. DBZ complements the original Dragon Ball better, and there are some filler I enjoy, or canon sequences that I enjoy the direction of in the original cut. But I like Kai for the ability to watch DBZ at a faster, more casual pace (and originally, for the Yamamoto soundtrack). The best comparison I can give you is I would watch DBZ when I want to sit down and listen to the albums of a band back to back, and Kai is a "greatest hits" sort of thing.

Also, of course, Kai has a good dub.

You might like Kai with the crappy replacement score if you've never experienced it with the original score from start to near-finish, the show itself is great as for the picture quality not so much and neither is the music (that is, the substitute soundtrack).

P.S: Kai does a poor attempt at being in HD, but in fairness from the Saiyan arc to Freeza's arc they did a fantastic job.

Too late on that. :)

Besides the fact that I miss the Yamamoto OST which was composed and placed specifically with the show in mind, just based on clips I've seen on YouTube, it does give me serious cognitive dissonance watching DBZ with Kikuchi placement that my brain knows is not how it was placed in the original show. For me, a lot of my enjoyment of Kikuchi's score in the original show is how it evolves over time, and how it gradually and subtly shifts feel and tone between the arcs as the amount of Kikuchi songs grows in size.

But, like I said, I can still enjoy Kai in spite of that. Though I'm curious what the Buu arc's music will be like, since apparently they're bringing in the BOG composer?

Got Chozenshuu 2 for $20 well $26 with shipping

Image

It arrived in mint condition! Really Really Happy!
A family friend's son is visiting Japan and he's already picked up the last 2 for my collection and the chogashu.

Only problem is, I got the dust cover of Chozenshu 1 signed by various voice actors so to keep it safe I framed it, anybody wanna help me out and upload a high res scan of the full dust cover of Chozenshuu 1 so I can print off and cover my naked Chozenshuu 1???
Pretty please???

The best solution would have been to just scan your cover in high resolution, print a copy, keep the copy with the book and frame the original.

Yeah you're right, had I planned on getting it signed to begin with lol. My original plan was to use a poster I bought online but it came to late so plan B was to buy some sweet poster at Animazement only problem was they had jack shit in terms of dragon ball it's why I got my dust cover and a random Japanese wooden screen thing signed lol

Seriously never would I have expected a dragon ball filled convention to have dealers who did not carry a lick of Dragon Ball...the selection was way shitty.
I figured if all else fails I'll just scan the signed copy but I'd prefer a clean one ya Know?

What was the name of the shop? I go to Newcastle every match day and wouldn't mind picking these up.
