Why's that?

I like the concept of the former mountain boy passing the torch onto a new mountain boy, brings the series full circle.

Even though he pointlessly leaves his family?
I think the dance episode sums up the main character much better. He's late once again, but when he arrives, things get better.

At that point Gohan was already settling down with his own family and Goten seemed more interested in dating than spending time with his father. I do think Chichi gets the short end of the stick in that situation, but it's not like Goku cannot teleport and visit her anytime he wants.

I get that he can teleport but it's heavily implied that he's going away for a while. I don't like it and I don't care about Uub enough to care that Goku's training him to be Earth's protector. It doesn't give me the warm an fuzzies.

I used to hate the ending, but over the years I've come to like it. It's a modest ending. Dragon Ball was always a modest story; Toriyama never had any grand ideas about what it was while writing it, and it never tried to be anything it's not. It's a very humble manga, and I think the ending served that well. Goku continues to do what he loves; train and fight stronger opponents, and we see his full growth from student to teacher of martial arts.
Sure, he should visit his family, but to me, the ending is sort of like "ah, there's that crazy Goku again, off on another adventure." For a lighthearted series like Dragon Ball, I can appreciate it.

Doesn;t Neko Manjin imply that Goku and Uub visit Goku's house on Mt. Pazou fairly frequently?

I don't know if this is unpopular enough, but I think Buu gets more interesting when he transitions from Fat to Super.

Looneygamemaster wrote:I sometimes see people speaking fondly of Goku acknowledging his Saiyan heritage, as though it's a huge character-defining moment, and my response is...really? It's hardly plagued him throughout the story; heck, he cheerfully tells Kaio he's a Saiyan. It's a nice idea to have him refuse what he is (so oddly, the filler on Kaio's planet does better in that regard than the canon material), but it's not even really brought up until Vegeta's death.
Admittedly, that scene does give weight to when Goku becomes a Super Saiyan, in which it seems that Goku has fully given into his instincts, which makes him frightening in a sense. But that's really just a show for the audience; it doesn't enrich him as a character at all.
I don't think it was so much a complete denial of his Saiyan heritage as it was Goku just not wanting to be associated with the more barbaric and evil traits that made the Saiyans who they were, considering how they went against practically everything he stood for.

Yeah, pretty much sums the show up right there.

* Oolong is best character by far.
* I like DBZ Movie 4, dislike Movie 3.
* Bio-Broly is my favourite Broly film.
* All the best characters debuted in the Pilaf arc.
* Buu arc actually made Gohan and Piccolo likeable.
* My favorite arcs are the Pilaf arc, Red Ribbon Army Arc, and Saiyaman arc.
* I didn't mind GT until the Shadow Dragon arc, at that point I couldn't wait for it to end.
* I would have had Yamcha beat The Mummy, Tenshinan beat Drum, and Gohan beat Dabura.

IS this true? Or was this one of the joke ones? Just curious since this is kinda unheard of for me.

I wasn't joking with any of these. It's got a unique cast (Eighteen, Satan, Trunks, Goten, Kuririn) and it doesn't take itself too seriously, which a lot of the movies too.
As for the record, I think Movie 8 would have been better had it only been Vegeta and Trunks going into outerspace. The whole baby crying subplot felt weird and as a forced excuse to put Goku in the film.

The dragonball movies aren't very enjoyable... Except for Path of Power.

I somewhat agree with you, Kid Buu. I really don't like movie 8 very much and like both of the Broli sequels exponentially more.

Another thing that I find amusing is that Goku fanboys will bash Gohan because Gohan only surpassed him in the Buu arc due to a free power-up, yet have no problem with Goku surpassing Gohan in BoG due to a free power-up.

Even Goku himself had a problem with that.

Does anyone really like Goku's SSJG form?

I was referring to the Goku fanboys who seem to only care about strength and victories, although to be fair I don't think they're really common here on Kanzenshuu.
