Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I really do wonder, if the translation is this bad even for us, I wonder how bad it is for the other more obscure nations? Like Zimbabwe, or Africa, or Arabian? Nations that France doesn't have much contact with, basically?

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
It depends on the source of the translation - if they translate from English, then sure, they will at best get a similar level of "badness". But if they translate from French, they may get a better version then the English one. I know what I'm talking about - I spend a huge amount of time explaining to the Polish readers that the English version of DBM isn't the authoritative one and that, when in doubt, they should refer to the French one.Fionordequester wrote:I really do wonder, if the translation is this bad even for us, I wonder how bad it is for the other more obscure nations? BTW you did a great job at enumerating those parts of the world that France had more contact with (maybe not Zimbabwe, but Africa and Arabia... yeah).

Shoot. I guess I fail at History...
Oh well. One thing I'm curious about, who exactly DOES handle the translations? Are they all by the same team of translators, or is each version basically a native of a specific country taking it upon themselves to translate it?

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Each version has its own translator(s). They have access only to specific parts of the site/server. Some translate via a website and leave the export to the French DBM team and the others (especially those who translate into non-latin-alphabet-using languages) take the files directly from the server, translate them, export png/jpg files (for standard and title pages respectively) and upload them back onto the server.Fionordequester wrote: One thing I'm curious about, who exactly DOES handle the translations? Here's a more or less complete list of DBM translators:

Huh, there's no one listed for English? Yet there are three people for "English corrections"?Tzigi wrote:Here's a more or less complete list of DBM translators:By the way there are some fellow Kanzenshuu users there - at the very least Kei, DNA and rereboySpoiler:

At this point I've pretty much decided that at some point in the future, I'll just take the copies of each page that I've been saving up each time now into Paint one by one, and touch up the dialogue where I feel it needs to be, just for my own personal use. But I'm too lazy to bother doing that any time soon.

You would have an easier time if you did it as the pages come out instead of doing them all later on.Gyt Kaliba wrote:At this point I've pretty much decided that at some point in the future, I'll just take the copies of each page that I've been saving up each time now into Paint one by one, and touch up the dialogue where I feel it needs to be, just for my own personal use. Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Yeah, you're right. But there were already 100+ pages by the time I even found out about this comic I think, so I've just kept putting it off and putting it off and forgetting that I even want to do it. It would be a lot easier though since there's no telling what the page count is going to be at the end of this thing.
I've also considered doing this with the Fanfiction versions also on the site, but...that might be beyond my capability. And would essentially be re-writing almost more than it would be minor corrections...so I've never even gotten around to reading those at all.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse

If Dodoria blew them up, i wonder how Freeza expect to see bodies? Interesting page, after Gohan power up from Guru, he should be able at least to beat Dodoria/untransformed Zarbon, and Kuririn is gathering a resistance group, if they are smart, they should wait as long as possible, to finish up Freeza henchmen, until Goku get there.

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Well, if Appule doesn`t know a technique similar to Taio-ken, he won`t handle this.

Is it Appule, though? I mean, he survives to carry Ginyu's corpse away. Could just be a member of his race/a soldier with a similar mutation, or just the artist's oversight. Well, those or he survives and it comes back to bite them in the ass.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Question: does Freeza know who Goku is in the tournament? I'm pretty sure the novelization said something about that.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.
