Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
This is just after his power up. He's no match for Cui at this time, to say nothing of Zarbon, who is pretty heavily implied to be over 30,000 in his transformed state. But hey: if Zarbon kills him right now, we won't have to wonder which Saiyan blew up Freeza's capital. Or maybe Nail will just swoop in and save them again. Hope that doesn't happen.

Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
The whole point of Gohan's powers is that they peak when he's really mad.
So regardless of power levels, if he lost control and someone like Zarbon was taken off guard, he'd take huge damage.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse

If Gohan get beat up by Monster Zarbon, he wil be saed by Nail, healed by Dende, and get nice zenkai, too bad there aren`t many pages left, and after that, we have rather boring fights. (Through i want to see Bra wiping out that cocky Eleim guy, for #16)

The next battles are almost all going to be curbstomps. Zen Buu vs Ten and then Gotenks? Bra vs Eleim and then Cold? Goku vs Freeza?

Goku Vs Freeza could at least be interesting. Perhaps Goku will test himself by seeing how well he does against Freeza without Super Saiyan. Then he finds himself at too much of a disadvantage to be worth the risk, says "okay, never mind," and OHKO's Freeza with a standard Kaio-Ken.RandomGuy96 wrote:The next battles are almost all going to be curbstomps. 'Course now that I think about it, this AU Freeza has probably gotten stronger over time too (has he? I'm not entirely sure), but that could just make it even more fun.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I often wondered how much the "real" Freeza would have trained or gotten his own well manicured hands dirtied over his lifetime before Namek. I mean he seems to be pretty skilled at hand to hand combat when a good competitor to his current form comes along especially with the final battle with Goku. Yet he seemed so god tier prior to all this and had a multitude of powerful minions (or at least above average thugs) at his disposal so would Freeza had much experience in battle or need to train once he grew up? If not much, then maybe the battles on Namek inspired the Universe #08 Freeza to actually work out once and a while.Kaboom wrote:'Course now that I think about it, this AU Freeza has probably gotten stronger over time too (has he? Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
If we count Cooler, he would probably have some fights with his brother at the very least out of rivalry and competitiveness.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
That's what I think too. Freeza and Goku fight roughly evenly in base, Freeza will say "haha, I still have more power!" and bulk up, then Goku will go "Hey, me too!", turn SS, and one-shot Freeza. Goku had both a power and stamina advantage going for him when SS Goku fought 100% Freeza. ~70% Freeza should cap out as roughly even to a slightly stronger than in the Buu arc base Goku. So an even fight between them could be interesting...Kaboom wrote:Goku Vs Freeza could at least be interesting. But then again, Nappa said Freeza wouldn't be even land a single hit in the tournament, and Goku has one shotted both of his opponents thus far. I'd prefer if he just did that; no point in dragging things out, ruining your one-shot streak.
Its repeatedly stated that Freeza didn't train.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Its times like this where I wish Freeza was able to sense energy. If anything just to see his reaction if Goku went SSJ3 and realize just how thoroughly outclassed and how thoroughly screwed he is.RandomGuy96 wrote:That's what I think too. Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I actually have no real complaints about this special but the part that confuses me is why Gohan and Krillin are so much more aggressive than they were in the original. I don't see how the absence of Vegeta would drive these two to start picking fights.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Well, enemy doesn`t have scouters, so they can eliminate weaker threats, without worry, that Vegeta will find them, i like this chapter as well, and have no complains for drawing, beside maybe how creepy Zarbon look in this special.

Gohan is too cocky.Guru unlocked his big potential and thought he would win.In the original, his potential was unlocked right before the arrival of Ginyu Force.TonyTheTiger wrote:I actually have no real complaints about this special but the part that confuses me is why Gohan and Krillin are so much more aggressive than they were in the original. Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
They're more used to killing their opponents. Krillin flat out killed a helpless person, that's going to change a person's approach to life.TonyTheTiger wrote:I actually have no real complaints about this special but the part that confuses me is why Gohan and Krillin are so much more aggressive than they were in the original. This guy's art just seems...off to me. Especially the panels where people are fighting. That one with Zarbon punching Gohan just seems so...static to me. As opposed to the guy who did Cold vs Bardock, where you could practically feel the punches on the page.

Yeah I noticed that too. I think it's partly because the force lines in the background don't go in the same direction as Zarbon's punch.Kamiccolo9 wrote:This guy's art just seems...off to me.
