I'm loving this game so far. I didn't like the budokai tenkaichi/raging blast series so after years of disappointment i'm happy. There's a real strategy to this that people looking for the budokai tenkaichi everyone is the same beam spamming style will be disappointed however I like it. The card customization is great so everyone is a different.
Co-op has a sort of diablo quality. What i mean is you have the basic classes like vegeta = range , goku = close combat. Yet at the same time you can have 2 Gokus and both are different as the card stats + colour choices and items are different.
Battle mode is sort of like a mini-moba BUT in close view not top down. That's pretty fun.
It's taken years but we have something fresh with lots of replay value thats not just another fighting game as these arena style games are not quiet fighting games. I like it. For years we have said "do something new" and they have. Story sucks but so what? we've seen the story a million times before. The game play is where it's at. Like games like monster hunter. Monster hunter story sucks. Gameplay is what makes that series fun + great to play with friends on the WiiU.
Now imagining this game turned up a notch to maybe 8 vs 8 in sequel if its on ps4 excites me. I recommend buying it and trying it. it may take awhile but once you get use to this style its great in my opinion.

Give me Zenkai Battle Royale. That looks like a real Dragonball fighting game.SSJmole wrote:I'm loving this game so far. This isn't a fighting game though. It's more Monster hunter than street fighter. I'd class this as an Arena beat em up. Which is okay

I respect your taste but don't you feel like its boring using traingle to fight and the l1 Squar Traingle and circle buttens to do some specialsSSJmole wrote:shinmaru wrote:Give me Battle Royal Zenkai that looks like a real Dragonball fighting game

I just like how different this is. Like i said I feel its a cross between Monster Hunter , Diablo and a Moba in one. It's a blast
No real combinations to make in this game no fun. if it was like dragonball sagas rollplaying game then okey
Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
I would if it was a street fighter style but like this it works. The combos and stuff comes from classes + pressing l1 and combo. They made it easy I feel to play like say the monster hunter or dynasty warrior stuff where one buttons pretty much use attack then combos do more. E.g as Goku i press triangle and get up close doing the melee stuff ect.. as vegeta I stay back using his ki combos like l2 or l1 + O. As Krillin i'm a support + interference i'm running around avoiding combat and helping boost team.shinmaru wrote:SSJmole wrote:I respect your taste but don't you feel like its boring using traingle to fight and the l1 Squar Traingle and circle buttens to do some specials

So I think it comes down to a combo of the type of game + the type of player you are. If you don't like Goku's melee heavy style swap styles and try playing as the classes were meant. Like I mentioned if your Krillin think of him as a cross between a healer and a controller kind of in mmos.
However I understand this may not be what everyone is looking for so I wont say people are wrong for hating it. I'm only suggesting trying every class and style

Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
Well, I got home from work and my pre-order had been delivered without any problems - so I quickly got something to eat and dove straight into it.
I've racked up about 3 hours gameplay so far and have begun to make a dent into the story mode, but frankly, at this point I'm finding it really tedious.
I can't believe that they've released something this clunky and repetitive. Battles are just endless amounts of the same thing, and more or less every character just behaves the same as each other. The game essentially comes down to locking onto an opponent and carrying out 4 different types of attack, that is, when you can even get near enough to the opponent and aren't just flung away by a random beam attack before you're even close.
I think general character movement and mobility is my biggest gripe with the game, but all in all I have to say that it feels like a less responsive, less imaginative, less complicated and (even less fun) Bid For Power.
So yeah, to all the Spike and Dimps haters out there - they must sound pretty appealing names now that we've seen what Artdink puts out.
I'll complete the game, as heck - I shelled out £40 for it, but I think I'll stick with my Budokai HD collection when it comes to replay value - which for Battle of Z feels like it's going to be non-existant once I'm done with it.

I would have honestly loved if this was a better iteration of Sagas, combining some RPG aspects with the slightly better combat system. The first mission in Story Mode had gotten my hopes up too...shinmaru wrote:I respect your taste but don't you feel like its boring using traingle to fight and the l1 Squar Traingle and circle buttens to do some specials

Aside from all the awful aspects of Battle of Z, did they use Dragon Fist for Super Saiyan 3 Goku as his Ultimate Attack? If I had to guess then I'd say probably not.
This is a fighting game, brawler or whatever you want to call it. That's like saying J-Stars Victory Vs. / Super Smash Bros. aren't fighting games.SSJmole wrote:This isn't a fighting game though. No, They are. However a game like Bayonetta , Dynasty warriors or Monster Hunter are not. I think this has more in common with them than a fighter.dbboxkaifan wrote:This is a fighting game, brawler or whatever you want to call it. I got to the Oozaru Gohan battle, nearly won, then failed... because Raditz died. The game does not let you finish a battle if you run out of retries then a teammate dies, even if they canonically should not even be there.
Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
So they didn't care enough to give Beers an Ultimate, hm? Now this settles it:
Game Broly > DBZGTverse fused together
Game Broly > DBZGTverse fused together
Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
I think if you go into the game expecting a combo based fighter on the level of the budokai tenkaichi games you're going to be disappointed. The button commands have been simplified to accommodate for the complete chaos that is a 4v4 match. Satisfaction in this game comes from asset management and the proper/effective application of your chosen function as opposed to having faster reflexes or being able to string together combos together better than your opponent. Listening to Lordmoonstone's thoughts on the game really changed my perspective for the better.shinmaru wrote: I respect your taste but don't you feel like its boring using traingle to fight and the l1 Squar Traingle and circle buttens to do some specials

Is there any mission in story mode where you can pick whoever you want?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Being able to dash out of combos with just a simple dash was already bad enough, as was the very very very simple combat system
But not having true offline vs CPU was the last straw that broke the camels back for me. Super Vegito as exclusive pre order DLC and not having the option of unlocking him is also on my shit list .

HELL. YES! If only they would've made it like that. Even though there would still be a lot of hate for it, but it'd be a bit less than what it's getting now.TheDevilsCorpse wrote: I would have honestly loved if this was a better iteration of Sagas, combining some RPG aspects with the slightly better combat system.
Yes, 2 years of development.dbboxkaifan wrote:

What in the hell happened to the development of this game?
2 years of trying to transform from a Gundam game to a DBZ game. 2 years of trying to put the DBZ-ness in the game. 2 years of fixing the stages and camera(maybe).
I too think the game's average at best, but COME ON people! This ain't wonderland. Sometimes a couple years ain't enough for some games too, as many people here said this a million times now. I say if Ultimate Tenkaichi didn't exist and this game's development started back around late 2010, this would had less hate than it's getting. And what's wrong with some characters now having ultimates? Goten doesn't have an ultimate but does anyone give a shit? Bills not having one is a bummer but gimme a break with that nitpick.
Wow...

Not bothered by lack of offline vs CPU tho, at all. (Still wish this had more single-player modes tho).

Pretty much all of them except tutorial stages. Where your character is shown before entering game, click them and you get a character board come upDBZGTKOSDH wrote:Is there any mission in story mode where you can pick whoever you want?

I remember hearing a few pages back that for the Japanese version, they were selling Super Vegito and SSJ bardock as Paid DLC.
