Got the idea after seeing a Tweet from Kendamu. Thought it'd make a fun thread and a neat trip down memory lane.

What was the first post that you made on this forum? Was it a good one? What thread was it made in?

Hey, this is my first post on the forum. Anyway, I recently emailed Madman regarding the release of the Dragon Box, Dragon Ball Z Kai and Dragon Ball Remastered. I've got some good news and some not so good news:

Good news: Dragon Ball Z Kai will be in stores in August!

Bad news: No Dragon Box

Meh news: Dragon Ball Remastered isn't being released due to the fact that all of the episodes are available uncut on the two 100 dollar box sets.

My first post was actually a new thread that I made regarding some upcoming region 4 releases. Of course, given the small number of users from NZ/AUS on the forum at the time, it didn't get a huge number of responses. I think I was probably a little vague on the details at the time, and I would've been better off just quoting the email in full. I don't know why I didn't do that.

I also shit on Reddit's DBZ community and I have zero regrets despite ironically calling them ignorant.

Browsing the main site for a day certainly clued me up fast on all the details of the production process.

I recently put this together for the DBZ subreddit before realising that community is unbelievably ignorant so as a new member of these fantastic forums, I'd love to see what you guys consider your favourite art style!



Personally, I'm a very big fan of the newer art style (I just named it SSSS for lack of a better term, I understand some of those shots aren't from the SSSS project). To me, it's like a more refined and consistent version of the later DBZ style. I'm very excited to see just how nice Battle of the Gods looks with the full budget and care it's received.

So how about you guys? What are you favourite(s)?

At the time, I was a moderator over at the old official FUNimation Forums. I was a lurker of the Daizex Forums for a long time, until I finally joined to participate in the chaos when everybody's favorite season sets were announced in '06. My very first post was in response to a comment MajinVejitaXV had made.

Hence, FUNi's English voice/Japanese BGM track will either be a mono presentation with newer sounding voices and an aged soundtrack that is similar to our current Japanese version, or FUNi will attempt to remix the BGM track which could be a disaster (and typically is when people try to remix something without the discrete masters).

FUNimation kept the original music throughout the original Dragon Ball, and their stereo mixes for the dub came out fine, in my opinion. Not to mention, they even mixed a 5.1 track for Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle's DVD debut, and neither the voices nor the musical score sounded aged (now if only we could do something about that horrible acting...).

I think the sound will turn out alright, but did FUNimation ever confirm that there was going to be an English voice with dub music track? I don't remember them ever saying that, so it could be that the only English track will be the one with the original music.

There's something else that I've been wondering about these sets. For the English voices / Japanese music track, do you think FUNi will dub an English version of "Cha-La Head-Cha-La?" Or do you guys think they'll leave the vocal songs as-is?

Of course, here we are nearly a decade later and we still have no dubbed version of "HEAD-CHA-LA." Hell, FUNimation still won't keep the song in their "English with Japanese Music" track.

I'd love to see another Neko Majin Z oneshot Or have the few chapters he did draw, animated.

As for another series being made if Toriyama suddenly died...it all depends on what the series would be about. The two most basic things it would have to include for me to watch would be Vegeta in his dbz form (no mustache/bad haircut) and an adult Goku.

There actually did turn out to be a few more Neko Majin Z chapters after that post.

I still mostly agree with what I wrote in the 2nd paragraph. My wording there reeks of the era it was typed in though; GT was airing on CN at the time and I was disappointed in them turning Goku into a child and cutting Vegeta's hair/giving him a mustache. I'd need more than just dbz Vegeta and adult Goku nowadays though; my "I'd watch it." bar is higher due to witnessing semi-recent and recent DB stuff of a variety of levels of quality.

I recently paid for both the Dragon Ball manga box set and the Dragon Ball Z manga box set, although the havn't arrived yet. I look forward to being able to read all 42 volumes in one sitting though.

And one of those box sets never fucking arrived.

"What moments in Dragon Ball makes you cry?"

I never REALLY cried while watching DBZ, but I do remember two times when I almost cried.
The first case I can remember is the scene at the end of the Cell Games Saga after Goku died, and has told everyone that they shouldn't revive him. I've only seen it in english, but it was still a really touching scene. Sure glad they had all those flashback-scenes, it wasn't nearly as good in the manga.
The other case is when Namek exploded. Even though I knew that Goku would survive, it was just so emotional.

You know, considering how my account here is like seven years old by now, I honestly expected my first post to be something really stupid and embarrassing. Thankfully this was neither, it was just... unremarkable.

...Oh, right. We don't have an introductions section anymore, so thankfully any embarrassment that could be there is long lost to the void. Hooray! What I did find though is this post in this thread that I made to ask a specific question.

I asked this at the FUNi Forums once but never got a definitive answer that I could see - Does Piccolo ever use the Special Beam Cannon after the fight with Raditz? I know he does all the time in the anime, but all that I've seen of it is filler. And if he doesn't use it after that fight, why not? Surely after all of his intense training, fusing with Nail, and all that, he'd be able to perform the move with much less effort and time, and make it much more powerful. Any thoughts on this?

And of course a bunch of helpful people came in to reply back. And apparently I had a witty line from Kaboom in my signature at the time, based on some back-and-forth reading here, heh.

Let's see...September 28, 2007, was when I made the thread, which coincides with my join date after all, so...hmm. I would have just graduated from high school at that point I think. Odd, I could have sworn I was already on the forums while I was in school, but I must have just been lurking beforehand. This would have been when I had begun the slow and arduous process of buying the Season Sets as they came out, which would lead to me avoiding this place for my own safety and sanity for a period of years...truly a mix of both dark and fun times.

So, the other day I was doing a google search for Ozotto trying to find out more information about him. I had known about his existence for a long while, but no one seems to know if he has any background information, and there has never been a full body image of him (till a few days ago). But during my search, I came upon a topic on this board from 2008 in which a member asked what new characters have been introduced outside the main sources of canon. This intrigued me. I am familiar with most of the modern characters introduced in video games and magazines, but there are a lot of games that weren't released domestically in the past as well. I read the entire original topic and most of the links inside have broken since then, and I was wondering if anyone could help out this time around.

Just to clarify, named characters are the goal. I don't really need 8 different pallet swapped "Bear Bandit"s from games like LOG, but if the character is say a generic looking Piccolo Daimao spawn that has been given an actual name (ex. Ukulele), that's worth noting.

The original topic had someone talking about Dragon Ball Daimao Fukkatsu having some new Daimao spawn, specifically one named Synthesizer, another named Banjo, as well as a soul cleansing elephant god? The link was broken on this, but its one of the ones that interests me the most. I also remember Herms saying "There are three small guys who are featured on some Carddass cards." in the pervious topic, but he never got a round to finding their names. It's been almost two years since the last topic, have there been any more new Cardass characters too? Has anyone played some of the older games and can mention "new" characters? Dragon Ball Online mentions would be great as well.

On a side note, since Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball are sort of a single canon, I was wondering if there is a clear number of Caramelmen that Mashirito has created. I know the manga featured 1-9, the Jump Super Stars manga chapter featured 10 and 11, and Jump Ultimate Stars featured model J. If you count Abale from Toriyama's last oneshot there are 13? Herms tends to know these things, even outside the DB world. lol

Excellent, excellent, fan manga! Believe me I can be the most skeptical, pessimistic person when it comes to fan... well, anything. And I have to say I was more than impressed.

Even if the author did decided to end it, (which is totally cool, people can be busy, or just lose interest in projects) It was still great. I never finished a fan manga before, and so far this was the best one.

But of course there where some parts I didn't totally agreed with or liked but hell I'm just nick picking.

Lots of Vegeta talk in this thread....which I shall now add to ^_^ My favorite episode is Vegeta's second death, I think it's number 238, and the English title is "Final Atonement" (can't remember the Japanese right now....) It's the only episode out of the entire series that has made me cry (though I do get misty eyed during Gokuu's final genki dama against Buu). It's kind of ironic that my favorite episode would be one where my favorite character dies (and I've seen many other people say the same thing with favorite characters in many different anime series), but I guess death episodes tend to reveal a lot about a character. Vegeta certainly shows how much he has changed when he reaches out to hug Trunks for the first time. I'm also quite fond of Vegeta's first death episode (surprise, surprise). As Deus said, it was really our first glimpse of Vegeta being more than just an arrogant asshole (and he cried! *sniff*) The fact that anime as a whole has villain characters that are actually portrayed as having real depth is one of the things that turned me into an otaku in the first place.

If the Season Sets had looked like this from the start, then there would be less of a division between the fans. I hope Season Four looks this good!

But the oldest post I could find was in response to a thread about a "New" clip from the FUNi dub of Movie 12.

I will be very happy as long as they keep the Tapion theme from the 13th film.

They didn't keep his theme and that irks me to this day (Can anyone say if "Dub with JP music" track keeps it?).
