What do you guys think of Dragon Ball Z Kai in Japanese?

It's perfectly fine. Nozawa's screams are a little lackluster at times and Wakamoto's Cell is quite exaggerated compared to his original performance but I really enjoy it. I find Horikawa's Vegeta much better in Kai than in Z. Same goes with #18 too.

Ever since I started watching Kai I can't stand some of the fillers and standing around from the original Dragon Ball Z. So would you recommend I watch Kai in Japanese over the original Dragon Ball Z.

Yeah, I just recently had my friend watch Kai in Japanese with the Yamamoto score and she loved it. I made sure to show her some of the key scenes from the original just so she could experience how good some of the things she missed were - for example, Trunks' arrival and Gohan's SSJ2 tranformation.

So yeah, you'd be absolutely fine watching Kai in Japanese. I just recommend going back to see how the iconic scenes were done in the original too.

I'd say the the performances are mostly superior in the original show, but if you really don't like filler then Japanese Kai should be a good alternative. It's not that Japanese Kai is bad, it's just that sometimes it's kinda obvious that the returning cast is older and have done these moments a million times already. In addition to that, there were several recasts (the entire Ginyu Tokusentai is a prominent example), but if you aren't attached to the original actors' performances you should be fine with them. I personally think Kai isn't a bad place to start with getting into the Japanese version of the show. I think you'll enjoy it just fine.

Sadly she's not that good in saying Kamehameha either. It's more or less now "KAAAMEHAAAAAAAMEEEEEEYAAAAAAHHH". Though I'll give credit to Freeza's JPN voice. HE's one of the FEW actors in JPN Kai to improve in Kai....well IMO

I don't understand the question mark....but I think it's ok to dislike the JPN version or prefer Eng version. Just know that the JPN is the true original and is the most accurate. If you debate the ANIME you will need to use the JPN lines not English.

I'm not implying it. That's how she sounded in...SOME Kai scenes. But it mostly showed in Battle of Gods trailers and that corssover with Toriko and One Piece. TO be fair. Schemmel said Kaioken right in MOST videos games. Where there is a bit more freedom than dubbing. So either the person in charge of dubbing told Schemmel how to say Kaioken the way THEY wanted. Honestly Peter sounded a bit too...goofy and ...well "Goofy"(like the Disney character). I like the man's screams cause honestly they're great. But when he talks.....it turns into a "Goofy" movie.

I never notice it. Really? Guess I don't play attention to sound that much. Is it that bad? When I watched all the fights of the Tenkaichi Budokai yesterday I didn't get bad sound for the JPN audio.

I can't even watch Dragon Ball with headphones on because the audio quality is so bad that it gives me a headache. I'm sure the Dragon Box release is fine, though, as it has been remastered.

I'm in agreement with AjayLikesGaming here. By watching either original DBZ or Kai in Japanese is a perfectly good choice. Coming from someone who is still very much a hardcore fan of Japanese DBZ, even I watch Kai more often nowadays for convenience.

Unlike DB or DBZ though, finding a legal streaming option for the Japanese version of Kai is non-existent. You can find the English-dubbed version on Nicktoons and Toonzai's/Vortexx's websites, but it's the TV-edited cut.

As for the sound quality of Japanese DBZ, it never really bothered me, as I knew I was watching an older show. The only time I found it really problematic was when FUNi released the movies as Double Features, and the Japanese track is sadly muted and muffled on those releases.
