Well, a film like The Thin Red Line is 3 hours long and sits at 22.5 Mbps giving a file size of about 30GB. It looks great but it's nowhere near as grainy as Dragon Ball is and making sure that remains crisp requires a lot of bitrate.

The Level Sets were ~30 Mbps with each episode being around 5GB. The biggest Blu-Ray size is 50GB and you'd have to take into consideration all the splash screens, potential trailers and menu stuff.

It would all depend on footage. If you're talking about the Season Sets, you could easily fit more episodes a disc in the current state they are. The bitrate on these things seem pretty bloated, to me. Regarding something of Level Sets quality, I feel like they did the best they could considering.

More grain = more 'detail'.
More detail = need for bigger filesize for it to not look shit.

Season Sets = no grain = only small filesize needed to look good.
Level Sets = grain everywhere = huge filesize to look good.

As it currently stands, the Season sets have 39 episodes spread across 4 discs. The Level Sets had 17 episodes spread across 2 discs.

There's pretty much no breathing room on the Level Sets. The Season Sets, however, could have had an extra 3 or 4 episodes per disc give or take.

Hey guys some of the prices dropped a bit on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Blu-r ... +z+blu+ray I don't know if some of the prices are justifiable but just figured I'd share. I hope the person that's selling this set for $9,999.98 gets banned. BUT! this person has the balls to charge you shipping! LOL
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Hi Guys,

I've been ill the past weeks, just feeling better today and thought I'd treat myself to season 1 on Blu Ray, how come Amazon aren't selling it at the moment when other shops are?

Dan
Next to get; Leged of Saiyan figures and Freeza's force

If anyone sees
Any of the Legend of Saiyan line going cheapish
Or any other Banpresto DBZ figure :)

If anyone has a cooler steelbook dvd that wants to sell it (prefer new but used is fine) when/if the dragon box movies comes out contact me :)

Amazon sold it at an unmissable price of $17.99 so people obviously couldn't resist and bought it.

I do have to say that I prefer BD/HD-DVD not only because they're in HD but the discs are much more durable (still if you scratch it enough times it'll stop working).
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Haha yeah I agree I really don't have too many problems with the new Blu-ray and I'm glad I got mine when I did. I'm hoping season 2 and 3 will stay 16 dollars all next month because this month will be tight.

Yup they sure do. It would be hilariously great and amusing if they do actually ship them out on the 18th, though I'm sure we can all trust Right Stuff with their information. I'm sure Amazon is just being a little slow on updating the page...

hold your horses...http://www.up1usa.com/Details/D1879-Dra ... yb+Blu-ray
cancelled my Amazon and ordered from here (i'm from u.k). 7-10 days :)
edit: Amazon would take 3-4 weeks for delivery, so may as-well pay the extra £10.

Wow that's insane. It takes 3-4 weeks for delivery to the UK on the American Amazon website? What kind of shipping do you use and how much does it cost you with Amazon?

Wow what a bummer...sounds like a pretty terrible experience as it should. Well I hope you have better luck with this other company! Good luck sir!

Not sure why the release date was pushed back. I got an email from RightStuf this morning saying that my Season 2 blu-ray was shipped and it will be here on Monday (one day before the original release date).

Maybe Funimation messed up? Won't be a first.
Perhaps defective discs?

That happened to me a couple of times back in the US Dragon Box era. A DBox would be delayed just far enough out to still get here before the original street date, if ordered through RightStuf.

I would, but I know I'll get stung for another $15 when the package arrives in the UK, $20 was my limit before shipping.
I'm looking for somewhere now that has it in stock in the UK to avoid the hastle of customs charging me and then royal mail holding the parcel as it's a pain picking it up.

I try to to avoid Amazon.com now as their packaging tends to be awful.
