Pretty much. There were a few -- VERY few -- lines from the Ultimate Uncut dub that were redubbed on the English Dub/Japanese Music track but left intact on the English Dub/Broadcast Music track on the Season 1 set (I don't even remember the specifics. Something regarding the Kaio-Ken. I think Sabat may have pronounced it correctly as "Kaio-Ken" in one line in the UUE but because "Kayo-Ken" was the norm for the English version at the time it was redubbed into "Kayo" on the Season 1 dub, but only on the Japanese music track. I may even be wrong about this, too) but everything afterward is the same across both tracks as far as dialogue goes.dbzkfan543 wrote:On the orange bricks, I believe most of the redubs were carried over from the JP music track to the US music track.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Hiya folks, I know that they, mostly Sabat, re-dub some stuff but is the 3rd track (U.S Broadcast) untouched?

In the Cell-arc, some of Marron's original dub dialog is left by mistake in the Japanese music track, whereas the "broadcast" dub track correctly has all of her newly dubbed lines.Levlik wrote:everything afterward is the same across both tracks as far as dialogue goes.

They really shouldn't have labelled it as U.S Broadcast then, if some of it was re-dubbed.
Anyway, finished Disc 1. Personally found no difference so far from season 1.
Hopefully all 9 will be out by the end of 2014.
Edit:
This is why Amazon had S1 under-review, makes sense now;

Love that just about everyone vowed never to buy this when it was first revealed, fast forward a few weeks after release and the thread is now about recent purchases

You sound surprised. It's not too far off from 2006 - after all, it really is legally impossible to beat that price.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I genuinely am because I thought most people on this forum already owned the series in one way or another so this would be just throwing money away.bkev wrote:You sound surprised. It's not too far off from 2006 - after all, it really is legally impossible to beat that price.

It's a Dragon Ball forum and it's a "new" release.
It's the definition of throwing your money away.
But yeah, I see joking going on Twitter and yeah as bkev said, it's "legally impossible" to beat that price; added, people's curiosity gets the best of them. Or, of course maybe there are some people who DON'T own the show? Who knows.

Bought it out of spite because of someone on this forum saying I couldn't possibly judge it from screenshots alone. Yeah, it was still absolute garbage and looked just as shit in every screenshot I'd seen prior.Kakarot88 wrote:I genuinely am because I thought most people on this forum already owned the series in one way or another so this would be just throwing money away.bkev wrote:You sound surprised. Ha Ha! I had it pre-ordered, canceled it... and have not looked back. They'll get my money when the release it done properly (although I might be dead at that point - so getting my money might be hard).Kakarot88 wrote:Love that just about everyone vowed never to buy this when it was first revealed, fast forward a few weeks after release and the thread is now about recent purchasesgood going talking with your wallets

While the US did the the Z Dragon Box, the mass market still only had the orange bricks and now these. I think a 4x3 release will eventually come.Kakarot88 wrote:I genuinely am because I thought most people on this forum already owned the series in one way or another so this would be just throwing money away.bkev wrote:You sound surprised. I love my Dboxes but I just can't watch them on my HDTV, has nothing to do with aspect ratio.

While I'm sure it was the case that many vowed to not buy this release you can't really fault anyone for doing so. It's a new release of DBZ and we're on a DBZ fan site so there are bound to be a lot of interested takers in this BD series.Kakarot88 wrote:Love that just about everyone vowed never to buy this when it was first revealed, fast forward a few weeks after release and the thread is now about recent purchasesgood going talking with your wallets
My own take on the matter is that it's better to support Funimation by buying up this release and that would take care of their need for a "mainstream" BD release of the series. I know it isn't a given but I sincerely feel that if a mainstream release does well Funimation is more likely to gift us with a 4:3 release afterward. I know there are a few individual's on this forum that agree with that sentiment but I can also understand why some people view that approach as a bit asinine (to say the least

They've changed my life - changed the way I act on the earth. Doesn't that make them kind of real? They might be imaginary but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

Supporting this release may lead to a 4x3 DBZ collection? Either it's a possibility or makes FUNimation believe everyone loves DBZ in 16x9 AR.RocktheDragon wrote:My own take on the matter is that it's better to support Funimation by buying up this release and that would take care of their need for a "mainstream" BD release of the series. From all those years that DBZ (also DB/GT) videos (more 16x9 than 4x3) are on YouTube I'd bet FUNi has gotten a large chunk of money out of them which could be part of its funding for a 4x3 AR release.

Yeah, not gonna lie. Very little pushes my buttons more than being told I should pay for crap in order to get something I actually want to spend money on. That's not to say you are pushing my buttons. Just that sentiment is. Nuh-uh. FUNimation has to earn my money. That's their job.RocktheDragon wrote:My own take on the matter is that it's better to support Funimation by buying up this release and that would take care of their need for a "mainstream" BD release of the series. (Also, something is not a gift if I have to pay for it. If they actually WERE gifting us a good release for buying their shitty Blu-Rays, that would be a different matter altogether.)

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" On Blu-ray: News & Discussion
For the record, I did buy Season 1 because I wanted to see what the video looked like for myself and to help to give an informed review for the forum users here, but now that I know the whole Blu-Ray is basically going to look like "meh", I'm most likely going to be buying anymore from this release line.
Plus, there's little doubt in my mind, we'll get some kind of 4:3 HD release someday in the future (either from FUNimation yet again, or from Toei themselves), so until then, my DragonBoxes and Kai Blu-Rays will suffice.
I have no problem with those who pick these up though. It's far from the worst release, and at least it has the awesome Japanese audio track for people to listen to.

So I was updating the original post with some more information and I noticed that an additional bonus feature has been added to the upcoming "season three" set.
"Look Back at the Hummer Tour: With Sonny Strait"
Anyone have any guesses as to what this could be? Also, for those of you who have gotten the "season two" set, what did that "Justin Cook Shares His Headshot Collection" thing end up being?

Hummer tour? Hmm...I could be wrong, but I want to say that'd be something to do with the Score card game. I think back when that was going or getting started, they had a DBZ hummer that they took around to promote the game, and at least once they also brought along Schemmel, Sabat, and Strait (and maybe others).

Oh jeez, I just hopped back to the first page on this thread and saw just how wrong I was.

How depressing.
On a different note - those with season 2, do you mind posting up some screenshots on http://www.i.minus.com?
Quite interested to see how the latter half of those discs look.
