Not really. In Battle of Gods, one would suspect if he was capable of using Super Saiyan 3 against Birus, he would have done. I don't know where you're getting the idea that he was stronger than Goku from the outset - or if that's what you're even implying, but I think Roshi's assertion that the enraged Vegeta surpassed Goku and Vegeta's little comment at the end of the film don't necessarily amount to logical cause to believe that he's suddenly capable of transforming to that level. If anything, those two little comments, if taken totally literally, just totally throw any kind of established in-universe multiplier down the pan, or at the very least into chaos.Thanos wrote:SSJ3 Vegeta works. He was stronger than Goku in Battle of Gods, so for all we know he was already capable of it. By GT, no sweat (from the standpoint of using GT or just its chronology from Z, it works).Blade wrote:And out of all of them, only two (Vegetto and Gogeta) actually make tangible, in-universe sense. :/
As for GT - again, I'm not following you. If it's 'no sweat' for Vegeta to jump to Super Saiyan 3 at this point, then one has to wonder why he never used the level during one of the many ass-kickings he received. He could have certainly used the boost in strength a couple of times, put it that way - even if its doubtful whether it would have made any real difference.
I think in the case of adult Gotenks, the appeal is sort of in the fact that GT did kind of tease the idea for a moment before quickly pulling the rug from beneath its feat as so to speak. It was sort of set up by an in-universe story, the same way that Gokule was - which I think is both kind of cool, and just a little bit odd, that we have had to wait so long to see an official depiction of what the character would look like.Makaioshin wrote: I could go for some more Episode of Bardock-type promotions. What-ifs can be fun but transformations don't really mean anything without a story to set them up. Just seeing the design for an adult Gotenks doesn't do anything for me.
I also have to wonder if the fan service element even matters to the younger children they are trying to sell this game to.
I think that kind of stuff can be pretty cool, as it makes sense in-universe and doesn't just feel like a gratuitous ascribing of Super Saiyan forms to every available candidate for the sake of it.
