Question About Tree of Might
Hi, I'm new here, so I hope to have a good time.
Anyway, my question is: I heard that Tree of Might had four English dubs. I know of the three(The uncut dub with Peter Kelamis, the TV edit dub with Ian Corlett, and the upcoming FUNimation dub), but what is the fourth one?

Hmm...
This is correct.
ToM #1) FUNimation/Saban dub edit.
ToM #2) FUNimation/Pioneer uncut release.
ToM #3) Bridge Entertainment UK release. Not associated with FUNimation.
ToM #4) Upcoming FUNimation redub.
The third does not feature the Ocean Group or FUNimation and is seen as the worst English dub of Dragon Ball of any kind. Proof? Goku has a burly, deep voice and Piccolo is known as "Big Green."

There's a clip of movie 4, where "Big Green" saves Gohan. Probably the only upside is that they use the original background music. Though the horrendous acting and voices don't help.

Oh...so were some episodes recorded of the Namek Saga without Corlett? Which means when the Ocean cast dubbed the rest of DBZ, they stuck with Peter throughout it all, eh?
Vegito: What do you call a Goku & a Vegeta? Gogeta sounds nice.

Not exactly. When it came to dubbing Dragon Ball Z with Saban and FUNimation, Goku was voiced only by Ian and Peter. The show at the time had nothing to air, so they went and dubbed the third movie and split it into episode-styled parts. It was cut and featured the last time that Ian would voice Goku.Great Saiyaman wrote:Oh...so were some episodes recorded of the Namek Saga without Corlett? When it came to the DVD releases by Pioneer and FUNimation, Goku was voiced by Peter.
After the UK began airing new episodes with the older cast, Peter returned for his role as Goku. However, he left his role near the end of the Cell Saga and Kirby Morrow finished providing the voice of Goku for the rest of the Z series.
When it came to GT, though, Jeremiah Yurk voiced adult and Super Saiyan 4 Goku in the Blue Water dub.

Since I got introduced to the English dubbed version of DBZ, it was during the Namek story arc. So, Peter Kelamis was essentially the first English VA for Goku whom I got to hear. I remember, how people griped about Ian Corlett's absence, but for some reason, I preffered Peter's performance of Goku above Ian's and later on, Sean Schemmel's.
Oolong also had a new voice. As of yet, nobody as identified is voice.Super Sonic wrote:Sometime during season 2, Ian James Corlett left the show. That's why everyone else but Goku and Master Roshi sounded the same.Great Saiyaman wrote:Hey I got a question....why were the Movies even released with different VA's than the Anime? Was the Movie that came out on DVD with Peter?

I have to say, during the series I couldn't tell at first. It wasn't until I saw World's Strongest on tv I first noticed the difference.BoxerGloves wrote:Since I got introduced to the English dubbed version of DBZ, it was during the Namek story arc. He's asking about English dubs, not the Japanese version.

Scott McNeil voiced Oolong in the Pioneer release of movie 3. He impersonated the regular voice actor, Alec Willows, who for whatever reason was unavailable when they dubbed for the Pioneer release in early 1998.DB_Fan wrote:Oolong also had a new voice.
